Abseiling on Table Mountain was an adrenaline rush with amazing views.
Though some people choose to hike the mountain, we opted to take the cable car to the summit, which afforded amazing views and an expedited trip (we had also climbed Lion's Head that morning and were in no shape to climb mountain #2).
We lucked out and did not face any lines for the cable car experience, but we showed up an hour before our reservation time just in case. When we were on the way down the mountain the line was massive, so I think we made the right decision.
the scariest part of abseiling was the walk from the top of the mountain to clip yourself into the abseiling equipment. It is quite intimidating given the incredible height, sheer cliffs, and the fact that you've not yet gotten comfortable with the safety harnesses yet.
Once you're all strapped in, they give an in-depth safety overview and review next steps. The entire team was professional and supportive. As someone afraid of heights, I greatly appreciated this.
Once you get going down the mountain, the experience is really quite fun! We also bungee jumped on this trip and I found abseiling to be far more enjoyable.
I've seen reviews that note the hike back up to the top of the mountain is pleasant; for those who are hiking/climbing novices note that there are a few scrambles and it takes some time to get back up to the top. It's a short hike but of moderate difficulty.
