Great food, good hosting, nice boat

Best boat tour on Abel Tasman.

If you want to see Abel Tasman in all its glory, this is the place. Magical memories thanks to Tim from Abel Tasman Charters. We met at Stephen’s Bay, easy to find, and Tim was there on beach with Zodiac tender to take us to the Taranui. Boat was ideal for our 4 private charter. Comfortable, well appointed and great catering. The trip was utterly fantastic. We kayaked, snorkelled, took tender into hidden caves and lagoons and paused at Adele Island to listen to the enchanting song of many Bellbirds, chiming in harmony. So many great memories- well worth every penny and a testament to Abel Tasman Charters. One of the best boat trips ever.

More Than Able Tasman Charters💪

Our guide arranged for us to have a private day charter in Abel Tasman National Park. This was our 1st excursion after arriving with our family from GA, USA. We wanted to bring all our kids (3 plus gf) as a special graduation gift as they are all graduating in 2024. We couldn't have asked for a better start to an amazing holiday! Captain Tim ferried us from the shore to the catamaran safely and thoughtfully. Right away I appreciated his wry humor and gallant manner. All day he showed great concern for our comfort asking us if we needed anything, from being mindful when we were on the bow, providing motion sickness meds, to letting us know when rough waters were ahead and so many other thoughtful things. Our excursion included lunch and Capt Tim showed he had chef skills on top of his amazing boating. The lunch was super tasty and after hours of boating and hiking and swimming and kayaking we were HUNGRY. There were even delicious homemade brownies at the end. We all left having had the most amazing day, seeing so many beautiful sights and full bellies. I watch a lot of Below Deck and Capt Tim wore all the hats and did everything amazingly. I am so grateful to Capt Tim for making our day so special.

You cannot miss Tasman National Park when visiting NZ and you cannot go wrong with Abel Tasman Charters.

Delightful day on the water

Skipper Rod and Mate Kim gave our group a fantastic experience on turquoise water and brown sandy beaches. The transfers from power dinghy to the boat were smooth. Once on board, we saw dolphins up close and visited beautiful bays. We had a delicious on-board lunch with local produce, local wine and beer. We were treated to knowledge of local flora, fauna, and local history. We offloaded to a golden sandy beach, which allowed us the chance to swim and kayak. The boat accommodated our group of 15 very well. Rod and Kim were friendly, informative, and skilled.
It was a flawless day we all will long remember.

Incredible Day!!

We had an amazing day with our caption, Rod. We were able to be right up next to baby seals in an estuary and we had a pod of dolphins following right along with us at one point. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting to explore Abel Tasmin National Park. We stopped on several beaches and did some short hikes. Amazing!!

Perfect way to visit Able Tasman National Park

A wonderful day out. Gorgeous boat and Rod and Emma took amazing care of us - pointing out all the sights and wildlife. Lovely lunch as well. We did kayaking, swimming, trail walk around a beach and saw seals and various birds. Highly recommended for a luxury personalised experience.

Fantastic day on the water

The Abel Tasman charter day trip is a lot of fun, plain and simple. You spend the day boating, sight seeing the coast of the Abel Tasman National Park. Lots to see. The first couple of hours are spent cruising and learning ( Rod the Captain and Emma the first mate are very informative ) about the park and ongoing efforts to eradicate invasive pests while sight seeing for seals, birds and other sea life.

After cruising for a couple of hours, you end up at a beach where you have the opportunity to go take a beach walk, swim or kayak. While out taking a look around or swimming the crew prepares a scrumptious lunch upon your return. It was delicious, the highlight for me being the smoked fish they get locally. Delicious, with a cold beer all that more so.

The next stop after the boat gets under way is another area in the park with a loop trail that leads to the top of a small mountain overlooking one of the bays. This is a great little hike and worth doing as well. After the hike it’s basically cruising back to where the trip started.

The scenery throughout is in credible, the guides are very competent, the boat is clean and comfortable, the lunch substantial, just a perfect combination to make for a great day on the water.

A highlight semi-private cruise experience

The catamaran cruise boat was very comfortable with two excellent women crew knowledgeable about the area and its history. The itinerary included on-board kayaks in a bay, a 45 minute hike circuit, iconic Abel Tasman island stops, and an exquisite on-board lunch with local juices, wine and beers of choice

Our Best Day In New Zealand Yet

What a great day. We were picked up on the beach by dingy and were taken to our boat by Captain Tim and from there had a wonderful adventure exploring the Abel Tasman National Park. It was the end of March and cool when we started so we wore layers and took them off as the day warmed up. The boat was well stocked and very comfortable. We spent the day cruising and exploring. We saw birds, fish, including rays, seals and the most amazing sites. We walked on unspoiled beaches and went on a few short hikes. It was a little to cold to swim but in the warmer months it would be something nice to do.
Tim was a great guide and made sure that we had everything we wanted and needed.
He prepared a very nice spread for lunch that has a lot for us vegetarians onboard to eat.
I would highly recommend using this company and when you do, ask for Tim!

Fun Day on the Water - Abel Tasman

We had a great day out on the water in the Abel Tasman National Park and Marine Reserve. Our Captain, Tim, was friendly and fun, is a terrific communicator and is very knowledgeable. We felt extremely safe and well-looked after the entire day.

The boat we were on was very comfortable. You can sit on the stern, bow or inside for shade. The stern also provides some shade depending on how the boat is positioned. We didn’t feel a lack of shade. There’s also extra sunscreen on the boat if needed. We applied sunscreen before departing at the start of the day and once or twice while on the boat (SPF clothing is good too) and we didn’t get burnt at all.

Apparently, the day we were booked for, the company had a large group booked and that group got the main vessel while we got what looked like a smaller, older one. It was disconcerting at first but as it turns out, it was fine. The boat is super clean and well-maintained, it has handle bars all along the outside of the cabin to the bow to hold on as you move forward, has a clean head and plenty of room for everyone.

Tim shared good info along the way. We stopped for the sounds of birds, seals with pups, some kayaking, beach walking and hiking. The kayaks are 2-person ones and we paddled over to a little cove with a nice beach and enjoyed the great weather.

After that, Tim put out a really good lunch spread with freshly baked ciabatta rolls and we made awesome sammies. There were also other nice veggie snacks and a really good pesto spread. There were plenty of drink choices.

When we were ready to start back, we saw a large pod of dolphins that decided to say hi and run along with the boat. What a thrill! They ran with us for a good long while and I think everyone felt the joy!

At the end of the day, we rode back on the bow sitting in bean bag chairs (genius for a boat) and drank a glass of rose. It was a beautiful day and one of best boat trips we’ve been on. We highly recommend!
