On dear I’m sorry you thought you were going in a minivan. The Cawdor tour is nearly always in a bus. It did indicate the different options on your confirmation email. However you were on the bus on 16 May which was not a successful tour due the numbers and it won’t happen again. If you’re ever back in the Highlands get in touch and we will give you s complimentary tour. I thank you for the 3 stars.

I’m very upset that things went wrong on this one tour. Some were out with my control and others were totally unexpected as well. Yes it was a mistake to mix two ships leaving at different times - it meant booking a larger bus. I was unaware when I booked a 70 seater that it would be cramped up that way. From now on I will cap the bus at 40 and only use the 57 seaters. I’d expected a tri-axle bus which is longer than the seats would have been normal size. When I saw it in the morning I was shocked but it was too late to do anything about it. Also the bus company just gave me what I requested so it wasn’t their fault. I’m sorry but the Princess ship was slow allowing its last passengers off. They kept in touch so we couldn’t leave them behind. This resulted in us leaving 25 minutes later than planned. There were too many people in the tour and that’s why it failed. We’ve never done this before, but people kept booking and we didn’t want to refuse or disappoint them. In the end we failed as we disappointed some of them dearly. We had another small bus out and minivans and they went well that day. We’ve done many buses before, but never one that side and never again. We’ve had hundreds of successful tours in the short time we’ve been operating and I wouldn’t want this to be seen as something we offer. This will NOT happen again and we thank your criticism for guiding us in what not to do ever again. The tours normally fit everything in with regard to locations, but with leaving late, people taking so long to get off and on due to the numbers and the early return due to the smaller ship leaving an hour before the bigger ship the itinerary turned out to be unmanageable. We’ve learned by this mistake and it won’t happen again. The guides and driver were impeccable. We only work with well trained guides. One thing we got right! As a company and personally I sincerely apologise. It won’t happen again - ever. Please do not let this colour your view of Thistle Excursions. 99% of our tours are amazing. Look at our 5* We offered our disappointed passengers a complimentary tour any time in the future and we also reimbursed them immediately. No quibbles. We thank them for their understanding. Please accept our apology, this knowing that we have no intention of repeating these errors. Kindest regards Maxine
