We had a very enjoyable travel experience with James as our English speaking tour guide who helped with taking many photos of us in the key scenic locations, food recommendations (xiaolongbao, stuffed chicken wing, oolong tea, sausage with garlic) and explained the detailed history of the small towns.
We started our tour with a hotel pick up, then headed to Jiufen early to beat the many bus tour crowds. As it was the May long weekend, the popular sites were very busy, which made having a private guide a lot easier to navigate the small laneways, visit the tea-house and didn't have to wait for others. Having a private car, allowed more flexibility with drop off/pick up, and James made it very convenient for us to be collected in his car when the rain started to pour down.
We then travelled to Shifen waterfall, walked the path and lit a sky lantern before taking the scenic train. Overall enjoyed the full day experience and would recommend it to other travellers who want to have a richer personalised travel experience.

Lawrence (our tour guide) was very personable (with a great playlist) and a fully outfitted vehicle (with multiple umbrellas, bottles of water, and charging cords, power banks, and outlets). It was overcast and sprinkling the day we went, but still a great day for me and my friends (seven other college students)! I would however almost recommend spending a full day in Jiufen (less for sightseeing and more to relax in the environment there at one of their many hideaway tea houses with fantastic mountain-valley views).

My family booked this Taiwan trip. Steve Wang was our tour guide; he contacted me a few hours before the scheduled pick-up. Steve showed up early and was very accommodating during the entire trip. Steve was extremely knowledgeable. We did everything on our itinerary (as outlined in the Tripadvisor itinerary). Steve took us to a local favorite lunch spot and the food was absolutely delicious! We couldn't be happier with this trip -- thanks to Steve! I booked another tour in Japan but this tour was much better with the help of Steve who made it one of the most memorable trip for our family. Some of our family destination spots were Pingxi, Jiufen, and Shifen. Steve also stopped at additional places so that we can take pictures of the beautiful Japan Sea and at the coastline. Thank you a thousand times to Steve for being so accommodating and hospitable during this trip! We truly enjoyed every minute of this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable trip to Taiwan. A+++++++++

I explored the unique culture in Jiufen and Pingxi. Different from the urban view in Taipei, Jiufen features a Japanese nostalgic atmosphere. The scenery is really good on the top of the hill!
