We really enjoyed the wide variety of food and drinks we tried. Delicious. Definitely did not leave feeling hungry. Yappy our guide was friendly and informative, he gave us lots of tips on dining in Japan. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Tokyo.

We were fortunate to have Norma and Endo-San and a small group of just myself, my husband, and one other person. Our guides were friendly, outgoing, and super welcoming. We had a blast getting to know them and the food of Tokyo. The conversation and information was amazing. We had a fantastic time and would definitely do it again!

I've done three Arigato Japan food tours, one in 2019, and two this year (2023). Not only were all of them fun and delicious, but they were all standout memories of my time in Japan.
Here's the thing. When you get back from Japan, everyone will ask you, "What was the coolest thing that you saw?" Unless you spent your entire trip in your hotel, you'll have no shortage of touristy sightseeing answers you can provide. But none of them will really convey how magical and awesome and otherworldly it is to spend time in Japan (especially Tokyo).
These food tours not only unlock food and sightseeing options that would otherwise be inaccessible to tourists, but they deliver the closest feeling I've come to a food travel show type or experience. The kind of show where the locals help you identify the tourist traps and pull back the curtain to reveal the genuine, delicious food they wish more people knew about.
More often than not, those standout food experiences have been in places I would have never thought to go to, or featured menus and signage I couldn't decipher on my own. Or, in a few cases, gorgeous restaurants tucked inside of office buildings whose existence is only indicated by a nondescript Japanese sign out. Unless a local shows these spots to you, there's simply no way you'll even know they exist, much less know what to order once you get there.
Needless to say, I highly recommend these tours. And when you get back home and someone asks you what the best part of your trip was, instead of reeling of the list of Instagram hotspots, you can tell them about that night you spent with a local guide eating and laughing your way through meals and drinks and desserts that all stand out as distinct memories you'll still remember years later.
The only warnings I'll give are that:
1. You may break a sweat when you're walking to all these places. I found it to be a great way to prepare my gut for each new destination, but if walking is not your thing then maybe skip this (and probably Tokyo too, since it's hard to avoid walking here).
2. You will probably get uncomfortably full. I don't think they want anyone walking away from these tours feeling like they didn't get enough to eat. I unlocked new stomachs I didn't know I had. It was worth it, but it helps to pace yourself early on.
p.s. Shout out to our Tokyo guides Yappy & Kumie, and Miyuke (Micky) in Kyoto.

In 2018, I had a whirlwind trip to Japan solo for 4 days for a Pokemon event. On short notice, I took a leap of faith, and traveled by myself to Narita, Yokosuka, and Tokyo. After leaving the familiarity of Yokosuka, being a US military base, I quickly grew overwhelmed in Tokyo due to my lack of preparation. However, one thing I was cognizant enough to do in advance was to purchase the Arigato Travel All Star Tour for my last night in Japan. Despite being almost crippled with anxiety to even leave my hotel room, I ventured out. Your tour guide and the accompanying guests in my group all spoke English, we're incredibly thoughtful and funny, and made me feel like I belonged. It instantly became my favorite and most memorable part of that short adventure to Japan.
Now, 4+ years later, I finally have been able to organize a return trip of 9 days with my husband (whom I told all about my tour with gusto) during the cherry blossom festival. I instantly knew that Arigato Travel would be a core function of that trip. As a result, we booked 11 tours (including one virtual) with Arigato Travel over the course of our time there, often two per day, across Tokyo, Fuji, Kyoto, and Osaka. I can't tell you how much reassurance and excitement swelled in me as I saw the booking confirmations roll in.
Thank you for everything you guys do!

Not quite what I expected unfortunately. American guide (living in Japan & speaking Japanese) with too much focus on other stuff than food. Pretty basic information about the dishes and customs surrounding eating in Japan. The dishes were far from spectaculair and we ended getting an icecream in a shopping mall.. Would not recommend.

With the recent reopening some of the things we are working hard to make the food tours the best they can be. We will talk with our guide about the balance of information. The Hokkadio Soft cream is quite famous but maybe the information was not shared to explain that choice. We will review all your comments and do our best. Took the Food Tour with Norma, and it was fantastic! It was a small group of people - 5 altogether. We visited a number of restaurants and had a really good culinary experience tasting various special Japanese dishes. It was a real treat!

We stayed at the Park Hotel Shiodome -it was a short taxi ride to the meeting point in the Ginza. At the end of the tour we walked a few blocks back to the hotel.
If you are comfortable with the train system that would be a good option but we were not, so we took a taxi. You are staying quite a ways from the Ginza so a taxi will be fairly expensive
in what languages is it available? I'm Spain.
It was in English but the tours are run by expats and one of them might be speaking Spanish. I highly recommend sending them. A message on their website requesting a Spanish language tour. Good luck
