Due to COVID-19, my travel plans were cancelled for this year. I had planned for my trip and tours for over a year. Your staff responded to every email to discuss the travel arrangements and ideas for the best tours. When the COVID-19 crisis started to affect travel plans on a global scale, your staff continue to respond to my questions and concerns. At the end, I had to cancel my reservations. Your organization provided me with a full refund without any discussion or pressure to accept a future voucher. I have not had this type of experience with any of my other travel plans for flights and hotels. These organizations should learn about wonderful customer service from you. I know that when I am able to travel again, I will most definitely reach out to you to book my tours as your tours sound amazing. I wish your staff and their families good health in these very uncertain times. Until we meet...

Best tour we've ever experienced and we are very experienced travelers. Our guide, was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, organized and fun! Our guest house room was clean and very comfy and the owners went out of their way to ensure our comfort. We will continue to tell everyone we know about our fantastic experience with International friends!!!

The lovely Katie looked after us on our 3 Day Tour, very knowledgeable, helpful and organised. First Tour I have been on since a Contiki 20 years ago and it was a nice change to not have to worry about anything.

My friend and I decided to book a girls weekend trip to Edinburgh, with the added day trip to Loch Ness and the Highlands. What an amazing weekend! Oz was our fantastic tour guide. Once on the train, he made sure that everyone had his phone number and the 3-day itinerary. Once on the tour bus in Edinburgh, Oz gave a wonderful history of all of the buildings, monuments, and points of interest. He is so knowledgeable that we were not at all surprised to find out that his college degree is in history! After a 2-hour bus tour of Edinburgh highlights, we checked into our guest house and had several hours free to roam Edinburgh on our own.
The Loch Ness and Highlands day trip was wonderful! Fred, our Scottish bus driver, kept us entertained and laughing as he told us about all of the sites we passed and the places we would stop.
On the 3rd day, we had the entire morning to tour more on our own or meet up with the group. Oz took us up to Calton Hill and told us some very interesting history, then we were able to photograph breathtaking views of the city and the North Sea. We also opted to tour Edinburgh Castle, which I highly recommend.
For anyone wanting a special family crest (for any last name, not just Scottish), the Tartan Weaving Mill is located right next to the entrance to Edinburgh Castle.
The temperatures in Edinburgh get rather chilly, so be sure to check the weather forecast before you pack.
We very much enjoyed our weekend trip with International Friends. I highly recommend this tour!

This is a good weekend tour for international visitors to London to have a good feel of Scotland. I am on a regular day business trip to London from Brussels and was looking for a chance to see Scotland on the weekend.Googled to find the GTI International Friends Package thru London Toolkit. I didnt seem too many reviews on this particular one. I found it was well organised and friendly and helpful and knowledegable guide Oliver Harris (Oz) with a History major made this trip very nice . We met at Information Desk at Euston at 6 am in a group of about 30 + people diverse from EU, USA and Far East /Asia. Day 1: We went by a very comfortable Virgin train to Edinburgh to reach at lunch time. We then left for a two hour city tour by walk ( a bit of a climb to the Observatory, a Nelson Monument which has 143 steps to climb (with encouraging remarks painted enroute -"Half Way'"almost There' !) but a great view of the city ) down into the city Centre to the Balmoral , the North Bridge, the Royal Mile , the Grassmarket and thru town . Sometimes this was too quick and I wondered if we could halt by and shop a thing or two but Sunday is almost free and can allow this. We then had free time to discover the Castle a very interesting military place of historical interest with much of history on ( not a ruin but not fancy either like a palace) where you can see the crown jewels. Down the Royal Mile are a lot of interesting places, shops and the music of a Bagpiper . Worth looking around stores where scarves, capes, tweeds , souvenirs and jumpers with typical scottish colours are worth checking out but in a broad price band. There are good options for food but it is best on this tour to plan your food which barring breakfast (excluding the train) you need to buy and can cost . Had time in the evening past 8 pm to stroll around - try Haggis - a scottish dish - even for vegetarians like me (with potato , cereal, oats , turnip) a lively and well serviced place at Makar (on the North Bank Street off Royal Mile ) Day 2: we went to Loch Ness and the Highlands on a coach tour - a pleasant journey thru very nice landscape dotted with sheep and farms and small houses . A couple of 'food and souvenir stops' on the way - and it is good to use the toilets at these halts although there is one on the coach. Michael /Lewis our guide/driver with typical Scottish accent and good humour in between were knowledgeable although there was a hardsell on the cruise .The commentary on return ,which was otherwise a calm lovely and relaxing on a nice autoroute, became a biting tiring towards the end. The Urquhart Castle is wonderful and in a lovely setting preceded by a good 8 minute video and a gift shop. The cruise on the Loch is relaxing on a well organised boat but takes quite sometime with nothing particular to see. I managed to satisfy myself but a little more visits around Princess Street and the central area before grabbing a value for moneyGBP 6 Felafeel Sandwich at a Turkish restaurant on Leith Walk on what seemed like a very busy and lively Saturday night Day 3: Took a day ticket on the local bus (GBP 4 ) and went on a must see trip starting 930 am ( somedays 10 am) to the HM Britannia Yacht ( not part of the package) . Very interesting and with excellent audio guide and a great gift shop . I took the bus back to Holyrood Palace which Oz had the group visit . A nice look at the Queens residence in Edinbugh with lovely state rooms ( no pictures allowed, sadly) and an old very nice semi ruin of an Abbey next door. By then it was time enough to rush back to the station to return to London. I tried to buy a thistle (the flower of Scotland) pod but sadly couldnt find one even at 3 florists . It would be good if one is able to reach London in time to catch the evening Eurostar but a 30 min gap necessitated a day extra . I sometimes feel these tours are good and would like a longer trip to cover the whole of Scotland with an option to connect and disconnect to the places that interest you in particular vs those that do not - like a hop on hop off tour actually .

I absolutely loved my trip to Scotland. It had ups and downs, but overall, I really enjoyed the experience.
The "bed and breakfast" that we stayed in (five people to a room) was definitely the worst part of the trip. I'm used to roughing it, but this can't be called a B&B. The owner was an absolute atrocity, and was unpleasant to every person in my group. I suspect she would have been kinder had we been in a smaller group or older (we are young adults), but that's no excuse. For more on the accommodation, please see my review of the Elas Bed and Breakfast in Edinburgh.
The bus tour when we first got to Edinburgh was a little rushed. The guide, Robin, was very authentically Scottish, but any enjoyment I could have gotten from him was dampened by the anti-American jokes he kept making. There's a difference between poking fun and then telling jokes that aren't actually jokes at all. That really saddened me.
The trip to the Highlands was absolutely breathtaking. I strongly advise that you pay extra for this upgrade, because seeing the Nevis mountains and Loch Ness is unparalleled. I've been to Alaska, including Denali National Park, and I was still very impressed by the many lochs and mountain ranges that we toured on here. But, WARNING!! If you get motion sickness, or get hungry often, BRING SNACKS AND MEDICINE! I mean it - the road to the Highlands is winding, fast, and bumpy. I don't think I talked to anyone who wasn't at least a little nauseous. There are bathroom breaks every 2-3 hours, and a bathroom for "emergencies" on the bus. Our driver, Peter, was absolutely phenomenal. Knowledgable, genuine, and so very Scottish. I plan on giving him a review of his own on Scotline Tours, the company of the bus. Our International Friends tour, Liam, was fun, young, and I really liked him! Very authentic young man.
The amount of free time that we got in this tour was great! It was a perfect balance between doing "guided" tours and exploring on our own! Friday afternoon, we explored Edinburgh on our own. Saturday, we spent the day and early evening traveling to and from the Highlands. Sunday, we spent another halfday in Edinburgh. For recommendations on what to do, please see my other reviews of Edinburgh!
DON'T MISS OUT! BOOK THIS TOUR!
