I'm not sure what I expected, but we enjoyed this unique, non-touristy sightseeing and food tasting walk through Bridgetown. Nicola is chatty and fun, and she can answer questions about anything! The "hole-in-the-wall" first stop was interesting, although I'm not sure I'm crazy about souse. The second stop was tasty, but in a generic air-conditioned restaurant. We all enjoyed the final stop with chicken necks, mavi and more that was new to us, at the oldest bar in the city. We enjoyed viewing the architecture, old synagogue and cemetery, Parliament buildings and more.

Nicola was our guide and she was fantastic. Met us as scheduled and then we spent about four hours walking through Bridgetown, Barbados, stopping at four places to eat. Nicola discussed history, architecture and most importantly the food we were going to eat. There was a good variety of places we stopped as well as the types of foods we sampled. One of the best tours we have taken in the Caribbean. If you are in Barbados, definitely try them!

Nicola, our tour guide, was excellent!! I would highly recommend this food tour when you are in Barbados.

Nicola was our guide and gave us some some history of Bridgetown, Barbados and most importantly the food we were going to eat and then ate. Good variety of venues visited (4 in all) including everything from a rum shop (for food) to a nice restaurant on the water. Good variety of food also including some of the best Bajan dishes.
Highly recommended.

Had a great tour with Nicola, the Hunters bar was amazing where we had all manner of traditional food. Got to say glad I did not know what it was before trying. However it was good fun, Nicola was very relaxed and easy to talk to and very knowledgable on the local history. We are going to have a try at making "Conkies". Would recommend this tour to anyone you will see places you would not find on your own.

On our food tour we had 4 stops. These stops were all local establishments. We even went to the oldest bar in Bridgetown. We walked down Swan Street were the locals shop. Our first stop was Hunters Bar where we sampled cutters. We had the choice of ham or fish. Cutters is a local dish. Our second stop was Square restaurant we sat at the table. We sampled black pudding and souse. Black pudding is made of sweet pudding, cloves, spice and scotch bonett pepper. Souse is pork with shredded cucumber, bell pepper, onion, parsley, lemon and salt to taste. The third stop was at the oldest bar. The choice at this bar was beer or homemade mauby.. Banks is the traditional beer. Mauby has a bitter after taste. To make mauby you boil bark, stick spice then add water and sugar. The last stop was Bridge house we had Mauby made from syrup, fish cakes, plantain, salad and bake(pancake) The service at the Bridge House was very slow we waited a long time for our food. Nicola was my tour guide she talked about history, cooking and rum. She was informative. We walked to the old library.

My sister and I enjoyed the Bridgetown Food & Heritage Tour, and met up with our tour guide in Jubilee Gardens and found that the tour was in essence a private tour, as it was just us and our guide. Our time in Barbados was very much enjoyed, made that way by our tour guide's high energy that drew us into learning the history of Barbados, as well as sampling food and drink. If we ever find ourselves in Barbados again we'll be sure and sign up for another tour through Lick De Bowl Food Tours.
