I can't say enough good things about this trip and Brenda, who was patient with my pre-trip questions as well as my anxiety about snorkeling. I hadn't snorkeled in a few years, and she was a great and calming teacher. She's also knowledgeable about Bonaire and I was happy to get context and information over the course of the afternoon.
I had initially hoped to join a group tour, but I was in Bonaire on the off season, and ended up signing up for a private tour. I am glad I did, as Brenda took the time to tell me all about Bonaire as well as pointing out her favorite spots in town. The price was reasonable and Brenda brought all the snorkel gear I needed. Highly recommend.

Personal tour with my boys and I. Guide tools to see flamingo, salt flats, Slave hut, lighthouse and snorkeled! Vast variety of sea life. Brenda (guide) watched my on the shore catch crabs while I snorkeled a while longer.

This tour was absolutely worth the price. We, along with many others, were cruise passengers over spring break. We booked this tour and filled out some forms about our skill level, which the guides took into great consideration. We lucked out and received a private tour, and because we are all strong swimmers, we got the chance to do our own snorkeling segment at a more private location with great sights and beautiful water. Our guide had plentiful knowledge of the island and its history and made sure at all times that we were safe and satisfied in the water and out.

Meeting our tour guide was super easy. He stood right outside the pier holding a sign with our name. We got into a van and drove around the south side of Bonaire - saw flamingos, wild donkeys, salt mounds, and slave huts. Then we snorkeled off a rocky area and saw many fish.

Our tour guide, Eddy, is a diver/snorkeler as well as a lifelong resident of Bonaire. He obviously enjoyed sharing his knowledge about the history of the island with us. By the end of the tour we felt like we had made a new friend in Bonaire. He was everything a tour guide should be.
As we headed through town Eddy provided information about Bonaire and it's history. We stopped at the salt works, saw the slave huts, and watched bulldozers scrape up the dried salt crystals before heading to the snorkeling site On the drive we spotted donkeys, a hawk, and a flock of at least a couple of hundred flamingos, though from a distance, through Eddy's binoculars. The flamingos were in their nesting site, so whether you'll see as many is probably up to timing and luck.
We ended up snorkeling at a reef near the salt works. Eddy assessed our skill level (somewhat experienced) and gave us plenty of time to test our equipment and get comfortable in the water. The fish were visible when still knee deep in the water, starting with a big school of sardines darting around us in unison while we snorkeled through them. We then followed the shoreline in crystal clear water as Eddy pointed out different kinds of coral and fish. Among the hundreds of fish we saw were several types of parrot fish, a scorpion fish, and a pair of green turtles. Eddy also pointed out some interesting coral. Our pace along the shore was relaxed. After about 90 minutes of snorkeling, we headed back to the cruise terminal. Eddy dropped us aff a a local dive shop near the cruise pier, so we could purchase a picture fish guide to help us identify the the fish we saw. We had a great day.

Our tour was confirmed at 4 pm the day before our tour & we were waiting for about an hour where the morning pickup location was, other tour guides trying to help us find this tour.. and I turned my service on to realize they cancelled the tour an hour before pick up. We were then left with no excursion for our one day on the island. Very rude and no explanation. Just beware this can happen to you.

Brenda was a fantastic guide from start to end. We enjoyed the sights and learning about the history, lifestyle salt industry in Bonaire. More than that we were excited to see the flamingos from a distance and in flight a few times. And even more than that, we loved our snorkeling experience. We have snorkeled before on vacations but this was the best! Brenda was very well equipped with whatever equipment was needed for our group and ensured everyone was well fitted before beginning. We saw an amazing variety of fish and coral. Brenda guided us along and stopped to explain now and then so we knew what we were seeing. We were 2 couples 60ish and were very comfortable in Brenda's van and with the pace of the tour.

Had a wonderful experience. Eddy was our guide and was wonderful. Thoughtful, knowledgeable and a great guide. We got to see the highlights of the island, including some flamingos! The snorkeling was amazing.
