I had a mixed experience on this tour. While it was enjoyable overall, there were several aspects that left me wanting more. The tour is advertised as a half-day experience, but be prepared for about 7 hours from pick-up to drop-off.
The company contacted me the day before the tour to confirm the pick-up time, which was appreciated. On the day of the tour, we were picked up promptly from our hotel, but as the first family, we spent about 1.5 hours stopping at various hotels to collect other participants.
Once we arrived at the main station for the buggies, there was a very brief safety briefing. However, I noticed a lack of thoroughness—no one checked for driver's licenses, helmets were not provided, and there was no enforcement of safety gear like closed-toe shoes. Additionally, the steering was quite stiff, and the seat positioning was uncomfortable.
The weather had been rainy, resulting in muddy conditions, which added a fun element to the ride, but be sure to dress appropriately as you will get muddy from head to toe. I recommend bringing only the essentials for the tour.
Our first stop was a coffee market that felt like a tourist trap, with overpriced items such as coffee, chocolate, honey, and body lotions—definitely avoid getting caught up in that!
Next, we visited Macao Beach, which was absolutely stunning with its beautiful waters and soft sand. There’s a restaurant available if you're feeling hungry.
The final stop was a cenote, which was unfortunately very crowded. There was no clear organization for entry and exit, but we managed to jump in for a quick swim. The water was muddy, likely due to everyone trying to wash off the dirt from the buggy ride.
On the plus side, the tour allowed us to reach interesting points and interact with locals along the way, which was a highlight. Overall, while there were some drawbacks, the experience had its enjoyable moments.
