The boat and the crew were great! Not one fish was caught. Wish there could be something in place for a discount for a future trip when you catch zero fish. Again, great crew, great boat and great company!

The positives.
Capt. and Mate were very nice and respectful! Boat was clean. Departure or port 5 minutes from my hotel.
Negatives. The Capt. and Mate smoke and all you can smell is the smoke if you sit in the upper level. If you sit in the lower level then you have a strong odor of engine smoke.
The cost with fees and taxes was more like $1200.00 not $945.00 because Puerto Rico has a sales tax of over 11.5 percent.
This charter is not for kids or the wife. We took motion sickness pills and still threw up. The boat was rocking like the show deadliest catch. Water was getting in the boat as we rocked side to side. We had 6 lines in the water for Marlin fishing. No bites in 2 hours. I asked the mate if they caught any Marlin in the last several weeks and he said its been very slow so I suggested we fish for tuna , mahi mahi or use some type of live bait, the mate said mahi mahi season was over in February. If I would've known this prior to me paying all this money , I would've never booked it. I loved the photos I seen on line of families catching Mahi Mahi or tuna so I wanted that same experience. I tried calling Castillo Tours phone number on the website prior to me booking this trip so I can ask questions but no one ever retuned my call.
So , anyway I told the caption to take me back to shore but don't pull the lines out of the water until we get to shallow water as we return so he did. Castillo Tours needs to properly advertise what fish you are fishing for during the time of your booking. I feel like I was duped for my money.

We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations for your deep sea fishing charter. The Captain and crew take their job and comments received seriously and of course were very disappointed with yours. The Crew always try their best to catch, but there are no guarantees. We are fishing in the Atlantic and it can get a little choppy at times. Captain Pitain always keeps up with the ocean condition and if he expect a lot of wind he calls the Client before the charter and check with them if it is fine or if they want to cancel or reschedule. Since he did not call, that means that you went out in normal conditions for these waters in Puerto Rico.

We had an excellent experience. Boat, Captain and First Mate were friendly and willing to help us in any way. Captain was very informative on water temperature and fish in season.
We caught 2 Maui about 15 pounds each.
Would book with this Captain again!!

On January 7, 2023, our 12 year old boy and 15 year old cousin went on a four (4) Hr deep sea fishing tour and they had an unbelievable time. The captain and fishing expert were very professional and did everything on their power for our two kids to have an amazing fishing experience. The two boys and adults in the fishing tour had a spectacular time filled with the excitement and rush of fishing big fishes. This is a must do trip while in Puerto Rico and you have the option of choosing from 4, 6 or 8 hours of fishing.

Worst deep sea fishing experience. The boat was unkept and dirty. We paid $1000 to go in circles for 5 hours. Made everyone sea sick. Waste of money! Would not recommend.

I am very sorry that you got seasick. But that is not the Crews fault. We fish in the Atlantic ocean with a 6000 feet drop. That's why we recommend to take motion sickness prevention. I don't think that you went on our boat, because our Legend is very clean and under a vigorous maintenance schedule. We receive 5 star reviews on how clean and comfortable the boat is. Fishing is done by trolling, which means that the Captain sails the boat at a certain speed back and forth to attract the fish. Maybe a small game fishing would have been better for you, since it is in the Lagoon were there are no waves

Captain Martinez and First Mate Kevin were top notch. Kevin worked hard to keep the lines free of seaweed, and because of his and the Captain's efforts, we caught a ~60lb white marlin and two Mahi Mahi. We also saw some dolphins swim by as the marlin was jumping out of the water.
My wife got a little sea sick but she felt much better staying inside the air conditioned cabin. The boat was spacious, clean, and very comfortable for our family (10 and 8 year old).
It was an amazing experience, and it was the highlight of our Puerto Rico trip! I highly recommend this tour.

I am so sorry that the Office did not inform you earlier that the Captain had cancelled the charter due to rough conditions. I sincerely apologize on behave of Castillo Tours. This should not have happen and I immediately made a change in procedure, so this does not happen ever again .

We booked aa afternoon deep sea fishing tour through our reputable big name hotel. The boat was great but beware if the captain calls you before hand and says its going to be a little “choppy”. We were not given the option to reschedule, we took dramamine but when we got out to sea it was WAY more than choppy. It was 5’-6’ waves. It was rough seas. 1hr in we had to turn back because we were all draped over the side getting sick. The captain told my husband this was normal, blah blah blah to preempt any refund. The concierge was surprised we went out on such a day!
No refund given. What was supposed to be our marquee activity on this trip, left us curled up in our rooms the rest of the day.
To note: make sure you understand that regardless of what the cancellation policy says, if weather conditions are not good, you CAN reschedule. We were scammed on that part! We didn’t know and no one offerred even though we expressed concerns.

Thank you for writing a review. We are always looking for reviews to provide insight into our guest experience. Our Captain usually doesn't call Clients before the charter, unless he has concerns. The waves that day were 3" to 5" feet, and we had a lot of wind . That was the reason he called you to advise, that it was choppy and to take motion sickness prevention. He told you it was fine to go fishing, but due to choppiness it's advisable to take something for seasickness. You said that was fine.If you had concerns and would have preferred to reschedule to a calmer day, that was the time to request it, but not after already been out and return after 2 hours. There were 5 other boats out that day fishing, even a small one at 20 feet. Our boat is a 48 foot Hatteras . We are very sorry that you got seasick, but that can happen on a deep sea fishing charter in the Atlantic. If you and your Family is prone to seasickness, I would suggest to charter a light tackle trip in the Lagoon where you don't have to worry about seasickness. Again we apologize for your experience getting sick and wish you the best for your vacation in Puerto Rico
