We ended up with a private tour since no one else had signed up for the 1:45pm time slot. Luckily, our ultra-intelligent tour guide Pablo was still willing and able to take us around. Coffee and the ham croissant at Cuantos Sombras was incredible. I’ll be dreaming of the cortado and just hoping the coffee I purchased there will taste as good when I make it!
We made our own mofungo and learned so much about the city and island from Pablo. He was a wealth of knowledge and so enthusiastic about sharing the history & love for the food.

If you’re looking for a true taste of Puerto Rico, Authentic Flavors of San Juan is an absolute must! From start to finish, this culinary adventure was packed with flavor, culture, and warmth.
Our tour guide, Alberto—a school teacher turned food enthusiast—was nothing short of amazing. His passion for local cuisine and storytelling brought each stop to life. He shared so much history and local insight that it felt like we were exploring the heart of San Juan with a good friend.
And the food? Absolutely scrumptious! The standout for me was the breakfast croissant paired with rich, bold Puerto Rican coffee—flaky, buttery, and perfectly satisfying. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, we ended on a sweet note with a warm, melt-in-your-mouth quesito for dessert. Pure heaven.
From savory bites to sweet treats, every flavor was spot-on. This experience is a true gem for anyone who wants to taste the soul of Puerto Rico.

There was an Iron Man race that caused horrendous traffic in Old San Juan (streets were closed off unbeknownst to us & the Uber driver). I attempted to contact the tour operator BEFORE the tour started both via email and phone call saying we’d be late to Carli’s (the meeting spot). We wanted to catch up with the tour. No response, thus, we missed the tour completely. Now being denied a refund. $300 + down the drain. Don’t book if communication is important to you. There should have been someone there to provide customer service and help us catch up with our group‼️

Old San Juan is an active city with many cultural, athletic and historical events being celebrated over the course of the year and traffic is a sad reality of life in Old San Juan during these festivities. We feel very sorry that you had this experience, and communication is a key part of our company culture and strategy for excellence as stated by the many positive reviews on this and other platforms. We tried to reach out to you directly but unfortunately are having some trouble as your contact number seems to be international which we believe played some role in the miscommunication on the date of the event. All of this said, we have approved the refund and hope that next time you are in Puerto Rico you can give us another chance to showcase our island's beautiful history and delicious cuisine.

Excellent food tour. Danny, the guide, was enthusiastic, well-spoken, and very knowledgeable!! The food was authentic and delicious. We have been on numerous food tours around the world and this may have been the best.

Tour was definitely worthwhile. It was only Diego’s second time as a guide but he truly is passionate about the history of San Juan but he handled it like a pro!

My wife and I had a great time on this tour! There were numerous couples and solo travelers in our group. We went to five different restaurants located in old San Juan. They were all so fantastic and our tour guide, Leslie was great! She was very knowledgeable and friendly.

This was such a rich and delicious experience! Our tour guide Leslie was AWESOME !! She was so much fun, super insightful, knowledgeable, helpful and had wonderful recommendations. The food was all yummy and I loved learning about how the food came to the island, where it's from, how it's made, etc,. I also enjoyed learning about monuments and parts of the island. I'd definitely recommend this tour if your visiting old San Juan!

What sites do you see on this tour? My wife and I are doing the 4:30 tour. We have time to walk around Old San Juan before this tour so want to explore places we won't see on the tour. Thanks.

Probably not. Old San Juan is not handicapped accessible. But suggestion to you is call them to double check. I know some of the places had ramps, not not all. And it’s a lot of up hill, cobble stones, tiny sidewalks.

Curious about the salty vs sweet options. My husband is diabetic and can’t have added sugar or alcohol. Would the tour still be worth it? Could they swap out something for him rather than sweets?

You will be visiting four to five restaurants. There are different things to eat; they are not all sweets. Our tour guide asked what food or beverage we didn't want, and could they swap it for something else. The guides also talk about the history of the food, within the Puerto Rican culture. I think the tour would be worth it. I loved it! Make sure to wear comfortable sneakers or walking shoes. Take an umbrella or rain jacket, just in case it rains.

I believe the tour group could accommodate 12 people. They like to keep the groups small. I would suggest calling the tour group, to make sure that you would all be together.
I, also, suggest to check the weather for the day you're going. If there's any possibility for rain, take an umbrella or hooded jacket. Since Puerto Rico is tropical, it will rain, then stop, and so on, and so on. Be prepared. Enjoy!

I was there in March, we wore them to enter the restaurants and removed them at the table. That might have changed by now. Not outdoors at all though.

Is 30 minutes between when the Celebrity Cruise arrives until when the Food Tour begins enough time? We arrive at 4:00 pm and the Food Tour is scheduled for 4:30. Thank you!

Should be, but I would send the tour company an email as a heads up. The meeting point is just around the harbor from the cruise ship dock, but if your ship is late, you may have to arrange to meet the tour at the first stop.
