This was really good tour of the island that gave you an appreciation for the history of the place. It also included a beach break at a beach with pristine water and plenty of food options and shops.

Jane was our guide as she was knowledgeable about the island's history. The walking tour also included delicious local foods from the island. Jane was sensitive to our needs, and the walking tour was easy and short. I highly recommend this tour and Jane as the guide.

Shampoo lived up to his reputation/reviews!
From greeting us at the port dock and all the way through our tour he was helpful, knowledgeable, fun/entertaining and a passion and love of his country. We had read up on him prior to booking
and went into this confident and excited.
We recommend Shampoo and this excursion.

Really enjoyed our tour with Historical and Beach Tour of Tortola BVI. Our driver, Vincent, was wonderful and knowledgeable about the island and its history. It was Boxing Day, (Dec. 26) and the Botanical Garden was closed, which was supposed to be a part of the trip, but we were able to spend more time at Cane Bay Beach instead. The Callwood Distillery tour was neat and very quick (it is quite small), since it is still done in the original method. The guide spoke so fast it was hard to understand him, but the samples of rum were diverse and enjoyable. Wonderful local people throughout this beautiful island. For a tour of actual island life, I would recommend this tour!

We loved it, everything is close to the cruise port and there are not many attractions: the old government house facing the sea (very nice and well kept), two small churches and the H.M. prison, it dates back to 1775 and is falling down (they are supposed to renovate it as Attraction), but it is worth visiting to know what prisons were like in those times, the lady who welcomes you is super friendly and says: "Welcome to the Queen's Prison," is so weird but super funny. Nice town.

We had a great time with "Shampoo" as our driver and guide. Being a native he was very knowledgeable of his island and was especially knowledgeable about the flora and plants we encountered in the Botanical Garden. We were able to indulge in the road side cafe experience and enjoyed their local cuisine "Chicken with Rice and Peas". Enjoyed the "Rum Distillery" and a piece of history. Wife enjoyed the taste of the "Panty Dropper" sample, so I quickly bought a bottle. Was glad our tour included an "Air Conditioned" vehicle and free bottles of water, as it was a hot day. Overall a great time and would recommend to anyone looking for a "Taste of Paradise in the BVI"

The excursion was one of the highlights of our cruise! Our guide, Shampoo, was fantastic and really knew his way around and the history of the Island. Looking at other tour groups, I felt we simply had the best guide. He handled drive those crazy narrow switch back roads so well. Great experience!

Yes I agree the roads are very narrow but Shampoo always takes his time driving and explains many highlights of Tortola. Happy you had a fantastic day in Tortola.

This was a very good excursion. Enjoyed the botanical garden, the scenic drive and the time at the beach. I recommend this excursion. It’s safe and a good experience.

I got to meet the legendary Shampoo!!! After reading all of the reviews I knew I had to take this tour and Shampoo didn't disappoint Ms Lydia was also great and highly responsive with a short notice booking which made my day!! Trip had lots of great stops but I'll be dreaming of the BBC from Loose Mongoose and the grilled lobster from the beach until my next visit. Don't hesitate book this tour today!

Even though my husband and I ended up being the only ones who signed up for the four hour tour, Paynes honored our reservation and no cancellation, which has happened with other companies. Shampoo wasn’t just our guide- he shared his home, Tortola, with us. We learned so much, saw so much and had an amazing lunch of jerk chicken, because we’re all about local food. Shampoo knew every answer to every question and customized our tour to meet what we wanted to see- something that can be done with just two people . We will remember this tour forever . We’ve traveled the world since 1974. We know great companies when we see one. Paynes is one of the best !!!

Our party of six will be on a Disney cruise that arrives on 28 June and I have several questions.
