Honestly, aside from the last portion of the drive, this was a great trip. You start off with a talk from Theo where he gives you all of this information on the hummingbirds, and the history of our ancestors. All the while, these little jewels are buzzing around. You then walk around their lovely garden seeing the various Hummies and beautiful flowers, followed by some light refreshments and a movie on the birds.

A truly amazing experience, one that I will never forget. The entire trip from start to finish was just fantastic. We were picked up by our driver Mr Nic who provided us with excellent titbits of information on our journey to the little sanctuary in the hills. We were then greeted by Gloria and provided with light refreshments and the opportunity to stroll through the beautiful garden to see and photograph the numerous stunning hummingbirds. Then we met Theo whose knowledge, expertise and passion for the hummingbirds was intoxicating. I felt honoured to be in his company as he shared his information and experiences. Words cannot describe the beauty of these enchanting hummingbirds. Absolutely breathtaking. This was followed by a delightful lunch prepared by Gloria which was mouthwatering. So so good !! Another stroll in the garden for more photos and videos followed by an information video with stunning photography taken by Theo. Some of these are available to purchase in the gift shop. Mr Nic then brought us back to our hotel and on the way guided us around some of the sights of Port of Spain and helped us to purchase some fresh local produce. A thoroughly excellent experience from start to finish. Don’t hesitate to book you won’t regret it.

Stunning experience watching and listening to hundreds of hummingbirds in the company of Theo who was passionate and knowledgeable about them. Seeing the hummingbirds at close quarters was mesmerising. Nick from Sensational Tours was a great guide telling us about the history of the island. Would highly recommend this tour.

One of the best experiences I've ever had! Theo Fergurson is a very wise man, he knows about hummingbirds, but not only... he has a great deal of experience in a lot of subjects.
Theo takes you on a magical ride through out-of-this-world storytelling. Words are insufficient to express how fantastic this experience is.
If you are in Trinidad and have a morning or afternoon to invest in something different and enriching I would recommend anyone to visit Theo and be amazed by this incredible journey.

This was the highlight of my trip to Trinidad, Theo and Gloria were amazing hosts, and listening to Theo telling us about the history of the country, the Arawak people and the hummingbirds, in surrounding like paradise, with countless hummingbirds flying around us all the time was magical. If I return to Trinidad I will definitely return here, I didn't want to leave. I learnt so much, and now understand why these amazing creatures seem so magical. Don't miss this visit if you're in Trinidad.

An absolutely beautiful experience! Theo & Gloria are gracious hosts. The wealth of information shared with us about hummingbirds and the indigenous people, I doubt I could find elsewhere. My 11 year old son was also entertained. As parents, we know how difficult it is sometimes to incorporate both an educational and enjoyable experience for the kids. A calm, relaxing, educational experience.

Theo and Gloria are great hosts and fantastic ambassadors, not only of the hummingbird, but of the traditional Arawak people and their presence throughout the Americas (the omission and exclusion of who are hidden from the white history books!).
If you visit Yerettê (meaning hummingbird) you will definitely see many different species of bird very close up. Theo will in-still an education in you to ensure you leave as both hummingbird and Arawak ambassadors.
This is a must see activity if you are visiting Trinidad. And be sure to give yourself 3.5hrs to take in all the philosophical discussion that Theo has to offer.

Thank you for this amazing local home and backyard visit, we could have stayed all day, peaceful and educational. Appointment is needed as this is a home to a professor and photographer and lecturer. if you love nature do not miss this!
