We had a wonderful evening with Kalika visiting lots of different stalls, shops and restaurants trying many different types of traditional Indonesian and Jogja food. She is very knowledgeable about the area and the different foods we were going to try and kept us laughing and having a great time. We got to ride on a becak to help us get between places and then play a funny game at the end outside the palace. What a great way to see and explore the main street in Yogyakarta :) thank you!

Great foodtour with our guide Kalika! Would highlg recommend to do this the 1st day you arrive in Yogya. Tried out many different things and loved the enthusiasm of our guide

The tour was really fun. The food was interesting, but I wish there were more food options. Our tour guide Anisa was great! She was extremely friendly, informative and super helpful. The one thing I wish was included was pickup and drop off. As a tourist, in a busy city, it can be a bit intimidating looking for a taxi and getting a grab can be quite difficult if you don’t have a SIM card or Wi-Fi. But Anisa was extremely helpful with getting us a ride back to our hotel. A fun and interesting tour for sure 🌟

I strongly recommend the tour to everyone. The experience was really wonderful and Kalika is an extraordinary guide. She was always attentive and kind, providing a lot of information about the food and the Indonesian culture. Was really a lovely evening.

Really lovely trip and great experience! We tried many dishes and what’s great is that Ratna explained to us in detail a lot about the culture behind the food and monument.

I stabbled over this tour and spontaneously booked it…and i couldn’t be happier about it. Kalika showed us her favourite food stands and restaurants and explained us everything. Always made sure that we are feeling comfortable and everything was super hygienic. Plus it was way more than just a food tour. She explained us about local sights on the way and played a local game with us which was super fun! Long distances where covered with becaks that she organised. Everything was perfectly organised. Thank you for the lovely evening!

This review is a “supplement” to one that was posted a few days ago as the opinion is similar. Adding to it is that I felt the tour went by relatively quick, a sign of a great guide (which Kalika is!) and the tasty food selection. The bakpia, which Kalika told us, is a Jogja speciality and a must souvenir to take back (stays fresh for a week).
As to be expected with highly rated food tours one definitely would not find many of the places or order the speciality dishes regardless of the time spent researching online, perusing the guide books.
Most of all, it is super cool that Kalika along with her partner/guide are the owners and giving the tours! Thank you Kalika / Vertikal Trip!

Highly recommend this tour! Anisa was an excellent guide, and took great care of us. It goes without saying that the food was delicious but wasn’t expecting to try so many wonderful drinks! It rained and even that couldn’t get us down. Thanks again for a fantastic night :)

Our family of 4, along with 2 others took the small group walking tour with Kalika.
She is an enthusiastic guide who spoke very good English.
We met at 6.30, and our tour finished around 10pm, having visited 5 food places.
We tried a variety of Indonesian and Javanese food and drink, including the ‘charcoal coffee’, skewers, ‘Yogyakarta spring roll’, bakpia (similar to small moo cakes), Gudeg (jackfruit), jamu (teas) and a chicken and noodle broth.
We also experienced a mix of both walking and also the ‘tuk tuk’- as some of the restaurants were quite a walk.
Great tour and Kalika was a great guide- explaining and also giving a bit of history.
The only negative/suggestion that we have would be to finish with an Indonesian dessert.

How much walking is involved in this tour?
As per our experience, it's completely up to you. If you get tired, the guide will use Becak transport to more places, if not, you can walk. I am not sure if there is any limit on the becak, we walked for about half the tour and used becak for second half, as the diode recognised that we were getting tired. The places are not far from each other, and our conversations with the guide really made the distance disappear, she is great:)

Unfortunaly there is no pick up and drop off services. Our meeting point is Tugu Jogja Monumen (Golong Gilig) and the tour start at 6.30pm. We recomend you to take taxy directly to the meeting point. And the last point is Alun-alun Kidul arround 22.00pm. After the tour finished, we will help you to order a taxi to drive back to the hotel
