My husband and I were thoroughly impressed by Jane’s thorough knowledge of Mexican history and the various influences to this unique country’s cuisine.
The individual attention we received was an additional gift and we learned how to make perhaps five or six dishes I. The one evening.
We were grateful for what was the highlight of our week in Huatulco and would be happy to offer more stars for the experience!
We look forward to returning and bringing friends next time!
Thank you for the recipe book and for the handy bag and The Eye Magazines as well.
We hope the Frida Kahlo cooking class will return to the website as an option for future food enthusiasts to enjoy!

We were brought out by van to Zimitlan, a small community about 1/2 hour out of Huatulco, where Jane lives and has her cooking school. It is a beautiful area, with the river running through it. We learned a lot about Mexico, its history, food, culture and Frida Kahlo's life. The food we made was different than your typical Mexican food... Chicken in Pipian sauce (a type of mole), corn pudding, and introduced us to huauzontles, an edible green, native to Mexico. It was interesting to learn about the importance of corn to the nutrition of Mexican people. Jane was a gold mine of information! Thank you so much!

We thoroughly enjoyed this class with Jane. She is a great source of information about Mexico’s history, food & culture. We enjoyed learning about Frida, her hardships and her relationship with Diego Rivera. She taught us about the various foods available in the Oaxaca region & we prepared them together. She is an asset to her local community in Zamatin, because she provides employment for women (and one man) from the community.
This was more than a Cooking class. It was also a history lesson!

Knowing my love of cooking and the fact we were visiting Huatulco, my ever-resourceful friends researched and gave me this cooking class!! Jane is a wonderful teacher and as evidenced by her thriving restaurant in the marina, Juanita's Cafe, a fabulous cook! Her classes are held in a small village close to Huatulco. The venue is perfectly charming, sitting atop a bluff overlooking a river. The menu for this class is divine and so very delicious. I can't believe I actually made it all once I sat down to taste the results! This is a wonderful way to learn about Oaxacan food and culture. Muchas Gracias for giving me a special memory of Oaxaca!
