This was a fabulous food tour. First and foremost, the tour guide was phenomenal. Chris was a local, however he was partly raised in Denver, Colorado. Therefore, his English was impeccable and his knowledge of the history of the city was highly informative. And then there was the food! We went to 8 or 9 terrific family-owned locations. Each you could tell took great pride in their establishment. All offerings were well seasoned and quite tasty. The two dessert places at the end were a great way to end the afternoon. Warning...we did our tour in October and it was HOT! Chris had plenty of water for our 12-person tour, though I went through 4 bottles personally. And be sure to pace yourself or else you will fill your belly too quickly and want have the opportunity to enjoy the last few places!

Miel did an excellent job taking us on a morning food tour in downtown Puerto Vallarta. She had an amazing knowledge of the culture behind the dishes and was quick to note any food preferences. She also provided us with a map of where we visited and a couple other recommendations, this list helped us pick local, safe places to eat with delicious food that wasn't overly priced for the rest of our trip. Definitely advise to do this tour on one of the first days of your trip.

Looking for something different than the usual cruise ship offerings? I booked this tour with minimal expectations and was pleasantly surprised! If your a foodie or just want to try different tastings that PV has to offer, this is a NO BRAINER.!
We were 10 minutes late to the venue because we were follow the ships time (which was an hour behind), but we called ahead and spoke to our tour guide Bernardo who was able to accommodate us. Very easy to contact the company.We caught a taxi from the cruise terminal which was a 15 minute ride.
We were greeted with a bottle of water by our tour guide, Bernardo. We walked through the old part of town and ended at the Malecon downtown.
The food was amazing! Chilaquiles, birria tacos,ceviche tostados, pork taco, Fresca drinks,mole and flan. We stopped at various restaurants and tour spots.
Bernardo was the best tour guide. He was personable and very knowledgeable. He was passionate about his job and took pride in “my country”. We loved that he shared tidbits of PV and his honest opinions to our questions.
It was about 2 1/2 hours of moderate walking.
Tip: it was hot ..so bring an extra bottle of water, hat and wear good walking shoes. Skip breakfast or ear a light breakfast. If your on a cruise, plan accordingly to PV time vs ship time (ours ship time was an hour behind!)

Food tour was amazing! All the stops were delicious! Our tour guide Bernardo was great! Very friendly and personable. He was very informative about the food, but also about the city. Wear comfortable shoes and eat a light breakfast or skip breakfast all together if you’re going during lunch. Here’s a few pics of the some of the stops.

Our tour guide had a great ability to share both the history of Vallarta, and that of Mexico. This was my first time here and it was wonderful that she was able to do that. The places that she took us were all more than excellent. I would do this again. I would hope to get the same tour guide, but would go with someone else because the company has impressed me and I believe they would have the same standard with all their guides.

I took a lot of tours on my recent trip, and this one was my favorite. The food was amazing and the tour was perfectly paced. Do NOT eat breakfast ahead of time! You will be getting ample portions of filling, delicious, authentic local food, drink, and salsas. Our tour guide Joana was a gem, and really make the tour the amazing experience it was.

This was my first food tour ever and I must say it was amazing. Our tour guide Miel greeted us and prepared us for our experience. She told us the history behind not just the food but also the area we walked through. The food was great! We were given plenty of liquids to keep us hydrated and cleanse our palate in between tastings. If you are in Puerta Vallarta and want something fun and tasty to do. This tour is it.

Al was amazing. He took us to the best places. I wanted "authentic" Mexican food and he delivered. It is best to start your trip with the food tour. This way you can enjoy the best local food in the area. We went to several of the places we ate at on our tour. Birria Robles was excellent. We were happy to visit them again along with Mariscos Cisneros for chili relleno tacos. You can't beat them. Thanks guys for a great dining experience.

I’ve been on a few food tours elsewhere and this one was the best. First of all, when you need to contact them, someone answers the phone or email - Very responsive. Secondly, our guide, Chris, was fun, professional, knowledgeable and considerate. He described the food, the history of the restaurants and the people behind it all.
The FOOD was so good!!! Favorites were the chiliquiles at La Chilaqueria and the mahi-mahi ceviche tostada and the hibiscus tea (add a little lime, it’s amazing) at Mariscos El Guero. Excelente!!!

Great tour, Silvia was our tour guide and took a lot of time to explain to us the history and composition of each delicious taco and bite we had. Try to go hungry , but it's way too much food and a shame not to try it all . Highly recommend!:)

Looks like the tours are currently at 10:30am. See their web site.
If you have a special timing in mind, you might be able to contact them and arrange something custom, at 888 360 9847 (US/Canada) or 322-222-6117 (MX).
I'd also recommend Cookin' Vallarta's "Taco Hopping Tour" which is about 3 hours and starts at 5pm. (Enrique's cooking classes are great too!) You can find them via a Google search.

This is a wonderful tour. We enjoyed it very much. I would not take a child on this tour. There is a lot of walking and listening to interesting facts and history of the area, the restaurants and the food. I cannot imagine a child enjoying this tour.

What is the total walking distance (approximate)? We booked and one of my companions has minor mobility issues (leg braces).

I would say depending on the mobility. My husband has a back issue at the moment, so throughout the walk he was able to sit down on a bench. Also, at two of the places we got food from. Saying this, however, there are lots of cobblestone streets. We ate at eight different places. We crossed many streets with high sidewalk curbs. Ate standing up at three places. It was at a pretty leisurely pace. Hope you can make it. Where we met was at a plaza and it gazebo type structure that had about 7 steps to go up to meet the group. You can sit inside there.
Our group has 8 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 13. Do kids go on this tour? Cost for kids?

We took two teens on the tour, and they enjoyed it a lot. The tour was suitable for them and the adults enjoyed the adult beverages. Food was great for all and our guide was amazing.
