We had an amazing tour with Star. It was just my husband, son and me on the tour, but Star still took the time to show us everything Pitillal has to offer. We toured a tortilla factory and kitchen stores, in addition to eating some amazing food. I can’t wait to go back to Puerto Vallarta and do another tour with Vallarta Local.

From the minute we met Star she was so warm and welcoming. She brought us to many great places and was very informative about the local culture. We saw the tortilla factory and got to sample a nice warm tortilla. We would recommend doing this tour if you’re looking to get out of the tourist area and sample some local gems. Finished it off with some corn ice cream for dessert.

Star was a perfect guide. She shared her very local neiborhood with me in depth, from delicious typical local food to visiting typical shops: hardware, spices, tortilla. It truly gave me an inside look at life in PV.

Highly recommend the Breakfast in Pitillal tour! Made 5 stops with 5 great dishes and along the way visited local housewares store, went behind the scenes at a local tortilleria, and fruit/vegetable and dry goods markets. Star offers so much more than just a food tour, she explained the food history, the local and regional food traditions and economy, plus tips on other activities and places to visit. She offered insights well beyond the food we ate. It was a fantastic 3 hours and we didn’t need to eat again until evening! You will be well taken care of, with attention to all the little details like always walking on the shady side of the street.

This was our second tour with Vallarta Local and once again they surpassed our expectations! Star led our tour and it was clear how passionate she was about sharing Mexican cuisine and Mexican culture with others. Vallarta Locals commitment to the community and the environment is clear throughout the tour. If you want to experience something away from the crowds and the "tourist traps" book this tour (or any tour with Vallarta Local! Highly Recommended!

I would highly recommend Vallarta Local Food Tours! Star was our guide for the Vallarta Local "Off the Beaten Path" Breakfast Tour in Pitillal. The meeting place was easy to find and our tour of 6 easily walked the route Star lead us on. She provided interesting stories about her life, growing up and living in Mexico, as well as information about the food we were enjoying. She was mindful of food allergies and likes/dislikes and went out of her way to make sure everyone had enough to eat at each stop - we were stuffed in the best way! Each place we visited was unique and the food was delicious! When the tour was over Star was kind enough to ensure that everyone on the tour had a ride back to their home base; she even helped us to find a pharmacy so we could purchase some aloe vera before helping us get a cab back to our hotel. If you're looking for a small, personal glimpse of the life and food of Mexico Vallarta Local is where you will find it.
Star was informative, kind and a genuinely lovely person who you can tell truly cares about people and sharing her love for her culture. This is a don't miss opportunity while you are in the Puerto Vallarta area!

Our favorite experience of the trip. ChaCha was a fabulous guide! So knowledgeable and passionate about the culture. We had some absolutely fantastic food and small tour allows for good conversation and questions. Absolutely recommend Off the beaten path food tour!!

This tour was awesome!!
We usually like to do food tours to get to know a city a bit more and what better way than through food.
We had the awesome luck of being the only ones for our tour so had a private tour with Star.
The Food:
- Muy rico! aka very delicious!! We are from Los Angeles and have been to Mexico often, so we get access to some great Mexican food. But the tour Star provided was excellent. The neighborhood is truly off the beaten path which adds authenticity and an opportunity to eat like a local.
- We tried lots of different types of food and all were delicious. I won’t spoil the tour but you won’t walk away hungry and you’ll get to try some common and unique foods.
The Guide:
- Star was amazing!
- Knowledgeable, funny, insightful, and overall someone we enjoyed getting to know and spend time with.
- She definitely knew the places we were going and the owners of each place and was genuinely interested in sharing her culture, stories, and information.
We’ve done food tours but this one is certainly one of the top!

We highly recommend this awesome tour. Chacha loves sharing her love of Mexico and the people and it shows. The food is great, but even more we loved the conversation and learning about Mexico.

This tour was awesome. We were with a group of 6 people, two other couples. Our tour guide was Yareli (not sure of the spelling), she was awesome.
We meet Star and Yareli a the meeting point. We all introduced ourselves and we were off. We tried many different foods and beverages. We ate at places that most tourists wouldn't probably go. We learned about the Mexican culture and the area. I loved that this is a Woman owned and local owned and operated business. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves tacos (who doesn't love tacos???).
We tried many different types, there were even some interesting types of meat, if you were willing to try them.
