Our cooking class with Chef Victor was amazing, one of the highlights of our trip! First because it felt very authentic. Victor seems like he has genuine relationships with people at the market. He is a proud Oaxacan who learned some of his best recipes from his grandma and who talks about local food and ingredients with knowledge and passion. He speaks English very well but is easy to understand in Spanish as well. He's a very chill and friendly guy, who'll happily talk about life in Mexico or give local recommendations. The food was delicious, with a great variety of dishes and lovely complimentary drinks. No advanced cooking skills required. Just one tip; come with an empty stomach, it's a lot of food. Muchas gracias Victor y el equipo de Etnofood!

Amazing experience! We had so much fun! Our chef Armando explained everything about the ingredients and we actually made lots of different things - salsas, the main dish, salad, tortillas, dessert. We had a great time!

AMAZING class! The two women who taught it were so sweet and gave so much interesting information! The whole experience was wonderful! Place was lovely and clean and big and bright, fantastic ingredients, amazing instruction!

Victor was a fantastic host and chef for our cooking course in Oaxaca! We had the best experience going to the market, making molé from scratch, talking about Mexican food culture and eating delicious food. It felt very good value for money as we had a coffee to start and loads of food to eat at the end as well as some snacks throughout. There were 8 people and we all pitched in making different elements of the dishes but swapped around so we all knew what was being made and how. The menu is always different and Victor was happy to take suggestions and adapt it on the day but we made: black molé with rice and courgette, pumpkin flower quesadillas, tortillas, mango and radish ceviche, a jalapeño salsa and a massive fruit salad!
Incredible day out and a great way to learn more about and enjoy Oaxacan food as a veggie!

Our whole family enjoyed this experience. We learned about new fruits, vegetables, and other produce to try. We learned that there are different types of quesillo! Try the ahumado! Our recipes were customized for our family too (our youngest does not like spice). It was a wonderful afternoon and evening and we would recommend the class to anyone.

I had an excellent experience in Ethnofood taking the traditional vegetarian cooking class. We cooked traditional food, and before class we went to the market to buy the necessary ingredients, which added an authentic touch to the experience. The class was well organized, and I learned a lot about local cuisine. Highly recommended for food and culture lovers.

The cooking class was soo great! First we were at the market and learned a lot about the local cuisine. We also tasted fruit and quesillo. Also the cooking was super fun! The boss has a lot of knowledge about the food.

This cooking class can definitely be recommended. We first took a trip past a market to hear a bit about fruit and local cheeses. In the kitchen, we both helped make mole, quesedillas and memelas. The chefs were good at explaining both about cooking and Mexican culture. 😊

The people conducting the class were good. The amount of cleanup was excessive and unfair; the staff should have done far more of the cleanup instead of sitting and watching class participants clean. The amount of food cooked was too much. Too little involvement in the cooking; some of the meal was cooked by staff without our involvement.
