We had such an amazing experience! We were picked up right at our hotel and visited 4 restaurants. Each restaurant represented a different region of Mexico. The cooks and owners welcomed us and proudly told us about the recipes and different ingredients. We were accompanied by Ivan and Lise from Cancun Food Safari who translated everything for us in English and some French (we are French Canadians). Lise is the “behind the scene” organizer and pulled the strings so we didn’t have to worry about anything. She even took care of tips and pictures. Ivan ate with us, translated and drove. Passionate about food, he is well-knowledged about food chemistry and helped us understand such things as why lime is used in almost every Mexican dish.
For $200 (Canadian) for 2 people, we enjoyed a ride through Cancun’s downtown with Lise and Ivan (real sweethearts), met with many proud Mexican restaurateurs eager to inform us and ate like a king and queen. We strongly recommend this outing to everyone as it is safe, friendly and yummy. The price includes food and non-alcoholic dinks, tip for the waiters and the ride.
We returned to our hotel transformed. The Mexican section of our hotel’s buffet took a whole other meaning for us: salsa verde and all the other sauces, the various seafood and how to eat it, etc. This is a taste of Mexico like no other that I will share with friends and family at home by reproducing some of the recipes as best I can.

Attention Foodies!! My wife and I were on the inaugural trip of Cancun Food Safari and it was by far the greatest experience of our trip. Evan was very knowledgeable about the different food and geographic areas featured in our tour. We tasted AUTHENTIC Mexican quisine from four distinct geographic locations of Mexico. The Cevichi tostada and Chil Pachole for example exploded in our mouths with rich and uniquely fresh taste. We can not recommend this experience enough. It took us about three hours which was great as some excursions you take in Cancun can take an entire day. We did the lunch trip but I think they also offer dinner trips as well. As I stated this was the best experience of our vacation to Cancun.
