This was a wonderful guide, with just the right amount of info. It was also a very pleasant listening experience, well-paced, with a little mood music at times, and with a wonderful narrator. As others had suggested, we listened ahead of time on the drive to Chichen Itza then listened again during the tour, to soak up more information. (And a bonus of doing an audio tour at all was less hassling from the many vendors at the site!)
There were just a couple glitches that could have made the listening experience completely perfect. It was often hard to figure out where we were supposed to be on the tour, because only some of the time was there clear instruction on where to walk next. The numbers on the map view weren't in an order that was very intuitive to follow in the list of tour stops. I think some improvement could be made here, maybe drawing the map so that it's clear what order to walk around in? My app also kept stopping and starting, which made me lose my place, and the bright sun made it hard to read the screen and find it again.
All that said, though, this was a wonderful tour. I would do it again, and I highly recommend it!

Interesting audio information which allows you to do the site without a tour guide. After reading other reviews I was worried it wouldn't work but it works perfectly. The negative reviews are obviously from people who didn't read what they are buying. It's not tickets for the site, it's an audio guide which you download and then you can walk around by yourself. It worked perfectly. It's especially good that you can listen to it before you go and afterwards as well just to make sure you get all the information.

The audio tour worked really well! I was able to use in with the GPS on, so each clip started playing as we got to the right spot. It was super informative and covered more info than a lot of the tour guides we could overhear. We went at our own pace and took breaks in the shade, since the sun was intense.

My husband downloaded the narration on his phone and we shared headphones. It was super easy to follow, the voice was clear and quite emotive making the content interesting to hear. There was background music and also loads of additional information to paint a picture of what it must have been like there.
Very happy with our decision to not go with a tour guide. This option gave us the freedom to walk around at our own pace and also re-listen to certain facts if we needed.
I'd suggest launching the app and looking at the map right at the gate (after tickets etc.) to orient yourself and get acclimated to the map/app. As mentioned in the description, the app does automatically start talking depending on where you are on the grounds/as you approach a site.

We enjoyed the content of our self-guided tour. The voice was easy to understand and lively- not boring. The tour was a little hard to get used to as the narrator began speaking as we walked closer to the sites, but we missed the first several points because we didn’t know the tour had started. A little confusing for us.

Audioguide hat wunderbar geklappt. Es war sehr ausführlich und das Englisch super. Es fehlten nur hinter dem Palast der Krieger einzelne kleine Gebäude.
Für den Preis im Vergleich, was man sonst so zahlt auf jeden Fall zu 100% weiterempfehlbar.

Worked as promised without internet (in flight mode) as long as you download everything beforehand. Excellent audio guide and much cheaper than the tours offered on-site. Really enjoyed it!

The guide was clear and informative, and went beyond what one would learn by reading the plaques at each monument. The map and GPS feature was also a great addition, so that the recording began as you approached the individual sites.

Can I change my travel date once I book the tour?
Yes, though you don’t need to worry about changing the Travel Date if your plans change because the tour is valid forever. You get access to the tour from the moment you book, regardless of when you actually plan to travel.

How much time it will take for a walking tour and do I need to make 1 reservation for 2 people?
This would take 1-2 hours, based on how long you choose to linger in one spot or the other. You can even break it into multiple days or take the same tour more than once.
It all depends on who is willing to share! (And who has good hearing). Since this is a walking tour, the safest option is to book one for each person that way everyone can listen at their preferred volume and walk at their own pace.

If I take this self-guided tour of Chichen Itza, I have to buy tickets into the site separately right? Can I buy both at once?
Yes, you have to buy the entrance ticket separately. This is just the tour through Chichen Itza. Unfortunately we don’t sell a combo tour + entrance ticket!
