A Great Tour

2023年5月

My husband and I really enjoyed our tour with Salvador (Sal)! Even though the Tulum ruins were closed for construction, the Coba ruins were a great alternative (although a longer drive from our resort). Sal was incredibly knowledgable about the ruins and we sincerely enjoyed chatting and getting to know him on the drive. After the ruins, Sal took us to a wonderful Mayan restaurant, and while it was definitely a hole-in-the-wall, it was delicious. Lastly, the cenote was so refreshing, especially after walking around the ruins. We highly recommend this tour! Private is definitely the way to go.

Easy, knowledgeable, overall good!

The tour guide Jose was amazing and very knowledgeable! I would say as it advertised the Gran Cenote as a stop, it wasn’t on the itinerary… it was a different Cenote. I had booked with this understanding and although we were able to switch the cenote, we did have to pay the difference.

Amazing tour and tour guide (Tako ROCKS!)

We loved Takeo! (aka Tako) He was our private tour guide for my husband and I on a tour of both the Tulum Archaeological Site and snorkeling in Gran Cenote. Not only was Tako super friendly and communicative, but he was also very knowledgeable about Tulum's people, history, and a range of other topics. We really enjoyed talking to him! As an extra bonus, Tako used to be a photographer, so he took a bunch of great photos of us at the ruins and while we were snorkeling. We couldn't recommend this tour and Tako more!

Great day-long tour with Taco!

We had a private group of 6 with our tour guide Taco. Taco was great - very personable, smart and spoke good English! He walked around the Tulum ruins with us and explained the history and took photos of our group. Then we went to the grand cenote and snorkeled - the cenote was a bit crowded but beautiful. The last stop was the national park with sea turtles. We had a separate guide for the snorkeling there - saw a few turtles and sting rays. Finally, we had lunch at a local restaurant near the sea turtles and the food and service was great. Overall, we had a very good experience and would definitely recommend Taco as a tour guide.

Efficient way to tour Tulum, but terrible cenote experience

Quite simply, the overall tour was just average. The breakdown is below:

1. Tour guide (Polo). He was pretty good. Nice and knowledgeable, but did very little to make it an interesting experience for the teens.

2. Tulum Tour. Standard. It was just what I thought it would be - not more or less

3. Cenote swim (Dos Palmas). TERRIBLE. It was less of a Cenote and more of a jump in dingy water. And very little explanation around what cenotes are. We only had one excursion day so I was trying to cover as many bases as I could. This part of the tour was beyond disappointing.

4. Visit with a Mayan family. This was less a visit with a Mayan family and more of a tour of a Mayan village. That being said it was our favorite part of the tour. We got to make tortillas, eat fruit, look inside a sacred sweat lodge and eat a delicious lunch at a cute restaurant right outside the village.

In summary, it was all just OK. If you are however wanting a true cenote experience, do not book this tour because you will be disappointed.

Amazingly good

Our guide Juan was very knowledgeable and spoke very good english, the driver Juan 2 as we affectionately called him since they were both named Juan was awesome as well. They made us feel very comfortable and explained everything to us. They were on time for our pick up and got us in ahead of the crowd at the ruins in Tulum. Juan 1’s knowledge was indispensable here and at the Cenote. Our snorkelling guide to swim with the turtles was also amazing. We were able to see 7 turtles and a few that were breaching the water surface. We did the private tour and I am sure that added to the experience as we were not waiting on strangers and could move at our own pace. One of the best parts of the day was the authentic taco stand we stopped at for lunch. The best food we have had in Mexico.

Amazing day

We booked this tour for 11 girls for a bachelorette party weekend. We had an amazing time with our guide Taco and our driver Rogelio. Taco was so nice and knowledgable giving us great information about the ruins and the cenote. He was so sweet and took a bunch of pictures for the group too. Rogelio was a fantastic driver. It was an amazing day and a highlight of the trip.

SO. MUCH. FUN!!!

What an amazing experience! We booked this tour as one of our daytrip excursions for our 17-person bachelor/ette party, and they did not disappoint. We were picked up on time in a huge party shuttle that accommodated our entire group. Our guide, Quetzal (AKA CAPTAIN SNAKE), shared his wealth of knowledge with us during our tour of the Tulum Ruins. He brought us to all the best photo opps, gave us free time to roam the ruins and shop, and used his connections to allow us free access to the restrooms and tequila shots from the shop manager. Next, he brought us to the cenotes, which were mindblowingly beautiful and a nice escape from the heat. Throughout the excursion, Quetzal listened to our ideas and accommodated accordingly. And let me just add- His English was PERFECT, leaving no lapses in communication. My friends could not stop raving about how much fun they had. On behalf of all 17 of us, we HIGHLY recommend Karma Trails for your Tulum daytrip activities! You will not be disappointed.

Private tour

Caption Snake was our guide. He did a great job was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Would highly recommend this tour. It’s nice to take private tours in my option to avoid people as well as crowds. We had a whole CENOTE to ourselves for an extended period of time which was also nice.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Such a fun trip! Our tour guide was Captain Snake. If you are able to choose your guide definitely ask for him. By the end of the day it felt like I was hanging out with a friend. He is a wealth of knowledge about the history and culture. It is a private tour so you are not in a huge touristy group. I learned a lot of very interesting things about the ruins. He goes into depth and its not just a guide reading off a script. You can tell he cares about the place and its history. After the ruins we got the privilege of visiting a Mayan Village where you see how they live, and if there are the sweet Village ladies there, you get a chance to handmake a tortilla. Way harder than it looks, but an honor to sit next to them and have them invite you in and show you a piece of their heritage. We finished with a cenote in the Village which was breath taking!! It was not one of the tourist trap ones, so it was very private. We had the whole thing to ourselves for the first bit. I saw a few turtles and there are the cutest bats everywhere on the ceilings of the cave. The water is crystal clear and beautiful! I enjoyed every moment of this tour!
