Hicimos un pequeño tour de avistamiento de ballenas con el capitán Gael (goose) y estuvo increíble, fue muy respetuoso con el espacio de las ballenas y tuvimos su atención en tooooodo momento, nos explico muchas cosas y fue muuuuy amable!

We had an incredible time with our family on the private boat rental. Captain Adan was absolutely wonderful—super friendly, attentive, and provided exceptional service throughout the trip. The boat was clean, well-maintained, and perfect for a fun and relaxing outing.
Captain Adan made sure we were comfortable and even shared some interesting local insights, which added to the overall experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend quality time together. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable day on the water!

It seems you interact with Papillon three different ways. One is with the reservation folks who are very amenable and do a bit of overselling what the experience actually will be (4/5). Another is with the folks at the actual location which are mostly disinterested and do not explain much of anything (2/5). And the third is with the captain and boat, which was an excellent experience (5/5) and the reason why this review is 4 stars overall.
To address the boat and captain first, I can say the navigation, sights, and cleanliness of the vessel were tip top. Smooth movement across light chop and around sites and other vessels which demonstrated a deftness for managing the waves even for a smaller vessel like a 28 footer. Proper time spent at each activity stop. Found whales where nobody else could see them. I could not write enough as to how highly I and my family were pleased with him (Adan, I believe). The journey is worth it just from this perspective alone.
As to the ladies managing the office, well, the interaction went something like this: "hello, the boat has water and beer, if you want more items there's a minimart in the hallway, bathrooms to the right of the hallway, and let's settle the remaining amount due". It should be noted their office is one of a dozen tour operators located in a public marina where the restrooms are public and there are people everywhere peddling other boat rides as you walk about 200m to the docks.
What soured the event for us was the addition of another Papillon employee who boarded the boat with us. There was no explanation as to the function of this person, who at first we thought was a tour guide - we had done two other private boat trips in La Paz and Cabo Pulmo in BCS that week and both had a skipper and a tour guide. Indeed, this additional person began our journey by pointing out landmarks for the first 20 minutes or so of the trip, and then began taking pictures of us. It dawned on us about three quarters of the way through that this was a photographer that had been sent along with us without any notification. At that point we regretted not having taken any pictures of ourselves, particularly since I had my professional camera on board for taking pictures of the arch and the marine life we could see along the way. Our expectation was "hey the tour guide it getting pictures of us, how nice, we'll focus on the waterscape". Again, this was done in our other two private boat rides by an actual guide, so we didn't think much about it. When we realized the guide was not a guide we resigned ourselves to paying for some pictures at the end, and that's when we got the sticker shock of being asked $250 USD for them, or $60 USD for any one picture. Note we paid $520 for 4 hours on the boat. We really thought about getting at least the one photo, but in the end we felt bamboozled by it and chose not to buy any. BTW, we traveled back through the office to get back to our car in the parking lot and not a single employee asked how the tour had been, not even acknowledging our return. Had we been advised there was a photographer available, we would have declined and taken our own photos along the way, plus had a little more space on the boat.
In the end, a great captain, a great vessel, a nice ride to see the arch, whale close-ups, some snorkeling - marine life is minimal and the water is a bit hazy, do La Paz or Cabo Pulmo instead, 100x better - reduced in value by aloof staff and the addition of an unrequested, unexplained additional crew member which left us without any picture memories of ourselves during the ride.

Captain Aiden was fantastic. He was very accommodating, informative, and polite! He took us to amazing sightseeing spots where we saw 3 whales and many sea lions. The experience was incredible and I would highly recommend.
