Rock Climbing Experience
I loved my rock climbing session with Jacob. He is an amazing instructor, he showed me the techniques I needed to get better at rock climbing. I climbed 6 walls (5:4, 5:5 5:6, 5:7, 5:8, and 5:9 of difficulty in the Sunshine Rock
I highly recommend Jacob to anyone who wants to learn how to rock climb quickly, he is an expert. He went above and beyond with his climbing techniques.

We did the Introduction to Rock Climbing on July 2 and could not have been happier. Our guide was Jacob and he really went above and beyond to give us a great climbing day. He was very informative and taught us a lot. We got lots of climbs in. He really had a great way of pushing you, but in a kind and safe way. The final climb I did for the day he really gave me the mental push I needed part was up and it felt so amazing when I finished it. I was there with my teenage nephew who did many more climbs than I did and I loved watching him learn from Jacob. We both really trusted him. I want to emphasize the safety aspect of the day and how much was done at all times to ensure the safety of our group. We both very much loved the day and would definitely do it again.

My boyfriend had told me his dream was to climb the face of Mount Yamnuska. Technically it was well above our ability. While we might be able to handle the actual climbing, route finding and placing trad gear was another thing.
I contacted Jeff in May to ask if it was possible (thinking it would be an incredible birthday gift). I gave Jeff a rundown of our climbing abilities and objectives. He let me know it would definitely be doable, and gave me three routes to research and decide between.
A week before our adventure (now September) Jeff contacted us to confirm the details. He also mentioned that the weather wasn't looking great, and gave three extra route options further west out of the weather window. The day before Jeff got in touch again to confirm the route we would do (the weather had shifted - we could do Yam). I appreciated that even if Yamnuska hadn't worked out, Jeff had thought of a few great alternatives.
We met up with our guide Christian early on Saturday morning. He reviewed our gear in the parking lot, and helped us make final decisions about what to bring. Christian was a fantastic guide. Calm and patient, we always felt safe. My boyfriend and I are both interested in learning more about climbing, so Christian would take the time to explain certain knots, belay techniques and trad gear. Plus, Christian was fun!
We had an incredible day. The route picked for us (Western Union, 5 pitches, 200m, 5.8) was perfect for our ability level. It pushed me, without being so difficult as to be frustrating. I am so excited to drive past Mount Yamnuska on a regular basis an be able to say I climbed it. We will be booking again with Alpine Air Adventures.

We are very happy and exhausted this evening after a fantastic day out on the rocks with Christian today. We are a group of four friends who booked on a private rock climbing course (1 day) with Alpine Air Adventures as we wanted to get a taster of climbing on real rock. The booking process was smooth and Jeff was quick to respond to emails and provide us with the information we needed in advance of the day.
What a day! The venue was Sunshine - an easy 15 minute drive from Banff with a
staggering variety of climbs (and virtually no approach). Christian was knowledgeable, safe, patient, enthusiastic and tailored the day to our climbing abilities. It was exactly what we wanted - not to mention he is also lots of fun! We will not forget our pretty "Figure 8" knots and that perfect belay technique! He clearly loves what he does and rightly so as he is excellent at it. It was in fact the perfect day out - and left us wanting for more. We will be back!

Christian took me and my three kids (ages 11, 12, 14) climbing for the day. We all had an amazing time! He provided excellent instruction, particularly with respect to safety and kept the kids busy helping and involved throughout the day. He ensured everyone had as much time to climb as possible and gave us the skills and confidence we needed to thoroughly enjoy experience. He was patient and encouraging and clearly loves what he does. He was great with the kids and they loved hearing all about avalanche control in the mountains! Would highly recommend! Thanks for an amazing day!

Our family of four, including our 11year old son and 8 year old daughter were searching for adventures in Banff and were stymied by most activities requiring our kids to be older. We were very lucky to find this company.
Great communication before our day. We met our guide, Christian, at 8:15 and off we went on our climbing adventure. He was a fantastic guide, feeling out our family’s experience level and was able to give us all challenging but doable climbs appropriate for our kids. Super friendly, very safety conscious, and allowed us to climb well into the afternoon until my kids were beat.
Great start to our trip to Banff, and will likely be the highlight of the vacation for the kids!

Jeff from Alpine Air guides was good at being in contact, providing information and discussing options before we arrived. We spent a couple of days multipitch climbing around Banff. Our guides were happy to discuss options and adjust plans based on our preference and previous experience. Once we headed up to the ice fields we spent an interesting day learning about correct movement and safety on glaciers. Our guide up Mount Athabasca was patient, encouraging and went above and beyond to make sure everyone reached the summit. He was also good at explaining decisions and what types of terrain and features were safe ot dangerous which was interesting and informative. There was also the constant litany of random interesting information about the peaks around and the landscapes and geography, other good climbs in the area etc.
All round a great time, with all the benefits of a small, dedicated, and passionate company focused on its customers.
