Great tour! Very informative and interesting. I learned so much and enjoyed every second of it. This place should definitely become an official museum! So much history... Highly recommended!

I went on the walking tour of St nicholas market and air raid shelter today.
The tour guide was really informative and also really witty. He knew a lot of facts about Bristol, the Corn Exchange, the Blitz and Edward Colston.
I was fascinated to see the air raid shelter under St nicholas market, especially the 1940s graffiti and I do hope this is preserved and kept on site. I think the air raid shelter could be a great museum, so many people would be interested.
I was also very interested to see the view over the roof of All Saints church and all the ornate columns which the public now can't see as they're obscured by the roof covering St Nicholas market.

This was a walking tour of exceptional quality. I have lived in or near Bristol for my entire life, and often visited St Nicholas Market, and I had no idea that such interesting underground rooms were so close. Duncan is extremely well informed on the historical aspects, but the learning is lightly conveyed so that it is.... well, simply thoroughly enjoyable. Our particular tour concentrated on the air raid shelter, where small, but intense, connections with the past come at you--- for example, a child's drawing on a wall. But our tour hinted at others that either do exist (D-Day) or should exist (a rock and roll history of the Corn Exchange, for one). I would do this again happily and recommend to others. A gritty gem of Bristol's history that should be preserved at all cost.

A very good tour done by a very good tour guide :) Would highly recommend for something to do all year round. It was a chilly day but lovely and dry. The interesting facts and original items from during the blitz are super interesting to see. The information on the surrounding buildings was fascinating also. The council really do need to do something to utilise the space and encourage museums to be created here given such a historic location by castle park.

We really enjoyed this tour and got to see parts of the Corn Exchange that you never normally get to see. Duncan was great - he was entertaining and knowledgeable and we learnt a lot. The tour started in Corn Street, outside the Corn Exchange, with some history about the buildings and the area before the Bristol Blitz. We then went into the exchange and down into an old air raid shelter where there is a plethora of WWII memorabilia - the beginnings of a proper museum collection - if only Duncan had some proper display cases….
The last part of the tour took us upstairs, above the existing roof, to see the fantastic architecture and stone carvings on the building which would have been visible before the original roof was destroyed. All fascinating.
The price of the tour is well worth it for two hours of entertainment and the opportunity to see bits of an historic building you wouldn’t otherwise see. A must-do activity right in the centre of Bristol. Thanks Duncan.

I have to say one of the best tours I've ever been on. Inside the shelter you really felt as if you were in the blitz. You could really see how the people must have felt during this time. Ducane is one of the best guides charming and a picture like gentelmen how really loves to give tours.

We had the most wonderful time on this fascinating tour of Bristol’s St Nicholas Market & Air Raid Shelter. Duncan, our tour guide, was SO good! He really knows his subject & his passion shone throughout the whole tour on a cold but sunny day. We were shown the stunning architecture at roof level, not visible from the street, & down deep under the streets of the old city to immerse ourselves in Wartime Bristol. So many interesting items & artefacts which could go to make up a whole museum of its own.
Thank you Duncan for this glimpse behind the scenes of a small area of Bristol l’ve never seen in the 50 years I’ve lived here! I will highly recommend the tour to all my friends.

Absolutely brilliant - Duncan was an amazing tour guide -he really knew his stuff. I am a Bristolian in my 70’s and he told me a load of facts about the war/Bristol and life in those times. This is a ‘must’ to do not only for visitors to Bristol but everyone In Bristol. Also having worked for Bristol City Council for several years was totally unaware of the air raid shelter it is incredible. Duncan has done so much to get this up and running and it deserves to be preserved as a museum for everyone to enjoy. Make this happen please Bristol City Council.

A fabulous and interesting tour with a guide who was clearly passionate about this bit of local history and managed to convey that effectively to us. The expanding WW2 museum that Duncan is setting up is a real gem beneath our feet in the heart of Bristol.

I did the tour yesterday with family and we found Duncans passion for this project contagious. We saw parts of Bristol we didn't know existed. It was a wonderfully nostalgic trip into the past, he kept us engaged and time whizzed by, we were sad when it came to an end. It would be fantastic to see this attraction reach museum status. Would highly recommend this tour.
