Wonderful trip with detailed trip to explore Windermere tour guide took all pain to show best of Windermere,cruise on Ulls water,Keswick town,Honister mines & grassmere ginger bread

The drive through the passes and the views from the top of the mountains were spectacular. The information and history from the guide was extremely good and definately made the tour more enjoyable.

English Lakes Tours was a great way to get an introduction to the Lakes District. Our guide Tim was very professional, friendly and gave us great information. Tim took us to some unexpected but very beautiful spots to get great photos from and a stop at one of the best ice cream shops around! I would definitely take another tour with them.

We were staying just outside the Lake District and decided that rather than drive ourselves, we would book some tours and get picked up from our hotel. We took 3 tours with this company and enjoyed them all. Everything was nice and relaxed and although there was so much to see on this tour, we didn't feel rushed and Steve was so accommodating when we wanted to stay a bit longer or stop for a quick photo. Very pretty scenery in an area we will be visiting again. Thanks for a lovely day out.

We took this tour round the Lakes to see the scenery and what the place was like. It was so beautiful, especially with all of the Autumn colours. We were really lucky with the weather as it was windy but sunny and everything seemed highlighted with colour and movement.
Tim was fantastic and it felt like we were being shown around by a friend. He met us at our hotel and from then on it was like we had known each other for ages. We took some surprisingly good photos (thanks Tim for the help) and saw some awesome places. From beginning to end this was the best of days and we are planning a return trip to the area to do some more tours with English Lakes Tours. Really nice people!

We went on a private full day scenic tour of the Lake District with Tim, who was an incredibly friendly, knowledgeable tour guide - his depth of knowledge was truly impressive. We saw some wonderful views of Derwentwater, Ullswater and other parts of the district. The weather was not pleasant at times, which was unfortunate but of course out completely out of Tim's hands and we still saw some magnificent views where we did stop. Disappointly however, Tim did miss a number of stops along the way (Grasmere, Whinlatter, Kirkstone, Friars Crag) that were on the itinerary without offering us an alternative way to spend our time, and instead we were left early at the Ullswater ferry terminal waiting for 1.5 hours for our ferry to depart and also arrived back at our hotel earlier than the advised time.
We exchanged emails with Phil, the tour company manager about our experience, who was kind enough to provide a detailed response and acknowledge poor communication being at fault, but also kindly able to share his perspectives. Unfortunately had Tim been a bit more transparent upfront about the parts of the itinerary that he was planning to skip or the amount of excess time we would have requested to stop off at some of other parts of the itinerary they normally just drive through but unfortunately we weren't made aware of this opportunity.
Reading all the other fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor it's likely this was just a "one off" average experience and oversight on Tim's part. Overall it was certainly an enjoyable road trip and we saw some great sights in the Lake District - but from our personal experience, only average value for a full day private tour.

The 10 Lakes Tour does exactly what is says on the tin – and more. Yes, we visited 10 lakes, but we also visited a number of other places of interest on the way. The tour lasted over eight hours, but the time passed very quickly as we packed so much in. We certainly saw things and learned information that we would have missed had we travelled around the area independently.
Our guide, Tim, was excellent – knowledgeable, informative and polite with a good sense of humour. He was able to pitch his commentary just right to suit his audience, keeping us entertained without overloading us with information.
If you want an introduction to the Lake District, I thoroughly recommend Tim and the 10 Lakes Tour.

Not to be missed. Its a brilliant way to get an overall view of all the best places to go back to later. We got to see places we would never have found on our own. My favourite was Buttermere and Crummock water. Wished we could have stayed longer but then we wouldnt have seen everything else.
I highly reccommend them. The van was partitioned so our driver Tim, was in his own little bubble with his own air con. He was extremely knowledgeable and happily engaged in conversation when we asked him questions.
The views of the valleys and lakes were spectacular.

Tim was not just knowledgeable seeming to answer all my endless questions, but a joy to spend a day with in the beautiful Lake District. We visited so many interesting places, I can't name them all, but we especially loved Castle-Rigg stone circle, Grasmere, Ullswater, Surprise View, Buttermere, Honister Mine and many more.
His knowledge knew no bounds, from shepherding to geological formations, stone walls and so much more.
