I us it on a daly bases travel to work. All good but during a winter some boats do not have a heating. And this is not very pleasant journey especially when you need to spend an hour and 20 minutes on freezing boat. That how uber treat they employees (they have to be there much longer) and customers.

Best transport for sightseeing

Went on the Uber boat from Greenwich to the London Eye which cost £8.20 using an Oyster card.
Whilst not the cheapest or quickest mode of transport for this journey it's definitely the best if you want to sightsee.
The boat is huge 12 seats wide with a small cafe which you can buy drinks and snacks.
Very enjoyable trip.

I always enjoy a trip on the Thames Clipper

I've done the trip from Embankment to Greenwich a number of times and always enjoy it. I love it when they let the throttle out a bit and speed up. It's a comuter boat so no embarrassing commentary. Its so nice to just sit and look out for the famous pubs, the expensive flats converted from warehouses, Canary Warf skyscrapers, the gardens right on the waterfront, the seaweedy stairs down to the shoreline and try to imagine it 100 years ago.
We had lunch in Greenwich market at the Chinese food stall, a bit slow but all cooked fresh and worth the wait.

Great way to enjoy the River Thames

We live in London and have cycled all along the river on both sides. But the Thames Clipper return journey from Bankside to Woolwich Arsenal was a revelation! It wasn't busy - but the staff were very attentive and professional. And the experience was fantastic. It wasn't cheap but we got a discount with TfL card and it was worth every penny. We are determined to do this regularly - it's such a brilliant way to travel!

Lovely service
We came a across a wonderful lady who went up and beyond to help us. She was very helpful her customer service was second to none please pass on our best wishes to Anita from north greenwich Pier. She served us today 2/11/21 at 12.26. I wish all your staff was as friendly and as helpful.

Irredeemably bad

Dreadful "service"

I was recently in London for two days, needing to travel to multiple different locations and with something of a schedule to manage that also meant travelling through lunchtime. None of my fares were covered for me, so I also needed to balance costs. Feeling a need to make the lunchtime trips a bit more relaxing than bus, tube, or cab, I decided to try the river boat service. It was a mistake. Worse, I repeated the mistake the following day assuming that the first time the system had just been having a bad day. I'm beginning to think that bad days are the norm for this sorry bunch of people and the non-service they run.

Costs-wise, black cabs are easily the best way to get around for a small group, not so much for solo travellers. Should have used a cab anyway, the fares would have been pretty close even for a solo trip.

The first day, I actually got to travel. I went on the Uber Boats service (it's just badged from Thames Clippers, I think), and while we were on the river, which I thought would make a nice change, it didn't quite measure up. The weather wasn't great, and many passengers decided against the semi-open seating areas and huddled in the cabins, standing if necessary, the boarding at the stages was somewhat shambolic, with the staff seemingly reluctant to answer any queries and nobody at the ferry stages apart from in the ticket booth at the landside end, desling with a long line of long-suffering customers pretty much alone. I was just using my credit card to "tap in" and "tap out" again at the far end, as I've done before, so that part worked as advertised, but I saw one group of people basically all refused admission because one of them for some reason couldn't use some kind of travel pass on the trip. Any sentient being would admit the group and take the fare in-transit from one of the other passengers if needs be using their card. You'd think this would be obvious, any public service should surely have a contingency for things that must surely be regular occurences, but now. They were not even civil with these poor passengers, a couple of whom were elderly. Frankly, it was a disgrace.

Foolishly optimistic, I planned to travel the system in the opposite direction the following day, in the same lunchtime slot. On this occasion I was a little later than planned but needed the break. Should have used a cab anyway.

I waited with a group of people for the scheduled arrival, which began running late. Although I'd hoped for a leisurely transfer I still had a schedule to meet and considered a cab, but then the boat came into sight. As it arrived, I was told to tap in and immediately refused boarding after some yelling from another member of the staff to the person who'd told us to start paying, and the boat simply left. An elderly person I'd talked to as we came for the ramp to the jetty was treated in an extremely offhand way, and athough he reacted quite strongly the crew had already decided that the passengers were not their concern and simply fled along the river.

There seemed to be promise after promise of a trip, none of them turning out to be real. After TWO HOURS there was quite a group on the landing stage and boats admitting few if any people, and the passengers getting restive also brought out a quite unsettling feeling of some kind of mob violance even from that end. On one occasion a female staff member refused to field any queries and instead randomly scrolled around a map of central London as if looking for the river, refusing to engage with any passengers at all. It's obviously the modern equivalent of shop assistants being over-engrossed with something behind the till.

The deciding factor should have been the staff, but they were several times worse than useless in dealing with the hapless passengers at the ferry stage and in fact just fomented a sense of frustration in the growing crowd on the pier. Their utter absence of concern was something I've seen a lot in the 30-something generation (of which I was one until recently), and their treatment of the elderly person we'd talked with echoed the sad performance the previous day. I would not hesitate to say that the staff showed contempt for the passengers, and the older these people were, the worse it seemed to be. There really seemed to be some simmering resentment of the elderly, demonstrated by enough employees to make it look more like the company policy of Uber Boats. Several people who'd paid were then refused admission, and queries about how to cancel the payments were just batted away with nothing short of contempt, because "it's not my problem". Really? As a customer-facing employee every, customer problem is yours whether you like it or not. My business survives on the way I treat my customers. Yelling "call TFL" at an old Korean lady is not winning you any fans among the onlookers either. There's an old movie called "The Ship That Died of Shame", and I can only assume that many of the Uber Boats are considering scuttling themselves.

If I ran an events company that organised boisterous alcohol-fueled parties in breweries (I'me sure Brits would get the reference to p-ups) then I'd still not hire the sad bunch of misanthropes now running the Thames boats. Time was, in the past (obviously), that it might be a pleasant day out, but now it just seems to be a coda to Milgram's experiments. Maybe on these two days the system was under a bit more pressure (although there didn't seem to be any obvious pressurizing factors in play), but for me to consider a Thames clipper in the future, it would have to be an act of desperation.

On Day 2 I walked back off the pier knowing that I would never choose to travel on the Thames on this dreadful outfit ever again. It's a non-service, which renders it worse than useless. And it's an abysmal advertisement for London. My advice? To end on a high note! Take a black cab. They're wonderful and they do seem to care about your business unlike - it seems - anything with the Uber name on the side.

Unreliable expensive

Thieves! Delays! Expensive! Unreliable!Bought an adult ticket and a child, very expensive. Needed to travel from bank to battersea per station. 15 minutes journey.
Encountered Severe delays of 45 minutes. Was assured I could get a refund. Asked for the refund online and was told I couldn't be refunded!
Here is uber boats reply to my refund request:
"I’m sorry that you were unable to board your preferred sailing due to some delays in the services.  We were exceptionally busy on the day of your intended travels and we are unable to guarantee that each vessel will have sufficient space to board each passenger on their preferred sailing, which may require a wait for a suitable vessel.  This information is relayed for our customers in our conditions of carriage.  Unused tickets do not form part of our refund policy".

Speedy short trip on Thames

I hopped on at O2 dome and off at embankment. Sat outside at the back. Some speed in this stretch of the river. Good views. Staff worked their socks off tying/untying boat. Good you can tap on and off.

River Cruising in Style !!`

This was more than a transport journey up and down the Thames. It was a cruising experience of a high quality. The boats are extremely comfortable and the views up and down the river are spectacular. Make sure you pay with an Oyster card rather than use the ticket machines - it is much better value. You must tap in and tap out !

The Uber Boat is a great way to travel in London. Perfect for getting the the most popular destinations, but also a nice way to do a bit of sightseeing around London. The boats are very comfortable, clean and there's a great choice of refreshments on board. It's super handy that you can use Contactless in the same way you can on TFL, it just makes the boats a lot more accessible
