Mike did a great job during the 1,5 hour tour. Very interesting and fun! (But cold, dress warmly in November!) I recommend you to visit Shrewbury Prison!

It was fantastic! Donna was a knowledgeable & engaging guide who taught us so much about the prison. What a brutal history it has.
No ghosts were seen, but that did not dampen our enjoyment of this unusual thing to do on a cold Wednesday night.
Would highly recommend.

Very informative and interesting tour, very atmospheric ghost tour. Wrap up warm and be prepared to stay on your feet for 1hr 30 mins .

Absolutely fantastic, every member of staff was lovely, all very helpful and a wealth of knowledge. The whole tour was fascinating, the historical side and the fact that it was a working prison so recently. You can't wear too many layers in winter tho, it really is freezing especially on your toes but that is stated on all the booking info. I'd highly recommend to all. Extremely different to the standard national trust style building.

Absolutely amazing, Graham our tour guide made it so interesting, his knowledge and expertise was second to none. Gave a real insight to prison life, from the Victorian era to the modern day. I would recommend he write a book about his experience as an ex-prison guard, because I would definitely read it. My hubby and I will definitely be doing another tour next year, I'm sure there's stuff we missed when walking round on our own.

We (husband and I) visited on a cold day, but emails received beforehand were very helpful - full of advice, what to wear and what to expect - written with humour and a sense that we visitors would be cheeished!
And we were! We would rate our visit up there in our top handful - our guide, Graham, spoke clearly and gave us all a fascinating glimpse of prisoners and warders lives during the life of the prison.
The prison shop has a good variety of items for sale, and every single member of staff we encountered in the prison was friendly and helpful.
We ate lunch in the cafeteria before our tour, and afterwards for a coffee and cake! Very good it was too, served by pleasant staff, and no porridge.
All in all, we had a great visit and can thoroughly recommend. Thank you all. There are some festive activities coming up, and we will be buying a yearly pass, which is well worth it.

My two grown up children treated me to a birthday treat tour of Shrewsbury prison and we loved it. The guide, Andy, was excellent. He was extremely informative and delivered the content in an engaging and professional manner. We learned so much about prison life over the centuries and the 90 minute tour absolutely flew by. I've since recommended it to many of my friends and family. Well worth the visit, thank you Andy.

I was a little disappointed with our guided tour, if I'm honest. After reading previous reviews, myself and my family were looking forward to the tour, but the guide that we had was a bit wooden, lacking compassion and feeling about what she was saying. Previous reviews had stated that the guides were passionate and funny, but our guide just seemed like she was reading a script. She kept us standing around outside in the freezing cold while she rambled on, often repeating herself. While some of her information was interesting , on the whole, it ended up being quite boring. A shame, as we had come here on my husband's birthday.
