Our tour guide Jim was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of info with a fair and unbiased perspective. He gave us a great and very extensive backstory to the context of the troubles. The headsets were a fantastic addition to the tour, worked perfectly and let us hear him over the traffic and from anywhere while we were standing and walking around. The route was very manageable, quite a few seating spots on the way, timing of the tour was accurate. Overall the tour was an absolute must for anyone looking to know more about the history of the troubles and the events before and the progress afterwards.

We went with Marc on the History of Terror Walking Tour. He was an incredible storyteller. The tour was great abcs I would highly recommend.

Paul was a great guide and was very amenable to answering any questions our group had. He had a wealth of knowledge and was clearly very passionate about the topic, a difficult subject to cover whilst on a walking tour but he was able to provide historic context and brought it all together very well at each stopping point. We also did a more general Belfast walking tour which gave a high level overview of some of the history but we felt this tour was a worthwhile addition despite some of the crossover. Very poignant and thought provoking, a tour we will not forget.

James took us deeply into the times when the troubles were at their peak. He understood so well to give the historical background together with deep emotions about the shock and terror which took place then. We are hoping these times are gone forever and all people here will be living in peace.

For anyone wanting to understand the effects of the Troubles better, this is an absolute must. Our guide Chris was absolutely outstanding. From the expertly summarised 20 minute background to start(not easy to condense 800 years of history for a group who know a mixture of nothing to more) to the very moving stories of victims, he guided us round the city centre using 7 or so buildings to explain a period of a few years in the early 1970s. He was impressively balanced and carefully explained the views of how both sides viewed events. He patiently answered questions very knowledgeably and clearly loved his job. He managed to include one or two lighter moments, not easy given the subject, as well as ending positively with a brief summary of the peace process. We were delighted with his tour and recommend it highly.

Hi, we will be in Belfast on Tuesday April, 5th. Can we pay for the tour on the day of the tour, either with the tour guide or at a Irish tour ticket office?

Hi there. Yes you can pay cash on the day of the tour. However you need to ring in advance t give details of the number in your party and what date you wish to take the tour. You can then arrange to meet the Tour guide in Belfast and pay him/her just before the tour begins. Hope that helps.

Yes we were on a cruise and we paid through the website to book the black city tour cab he met us of the cruise port. The cruise port is miles away not walking distance then he dropped us of the titanic. Had a few hours there any more questions let me know

Hi all, I plan to visit Belfast in July and I want to join a historical tour to learn more about the Troubles. I read some really good reviews about Dead Centre but for some reason I can't access their website to read about the details of the tour. I presume Dead Centre is still in business as there are reviews as recent as a few days ago? If so, can the staff check if the website is functional? Many thanks.

Hi, the tour lasts around 2 hours but you actually don’t walk that far. It’s a slow amble, with lots of stops at important sites (with places to sit). Have a look at the ‘What to expect’ section on here. It’s not a taxing walk at all. In our experience the two hours just flew!
