Interesting Bloody Sunday & Bogside Tour

A very moving an informative tour of the Bogside and Murals. Gleann was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable of the area and events that took place in the Bogside and particularly on Bloody Sunday.
The tour and stories of the murals were very interesting and have a great insight into life on the outskirts of Derry. We were able to understand how Catholics would have been treated in the area. Although it’s a very powerful and moving tour, Gleann provided moments of humour that demonstrated life had to keep going through The Troubles. Really enjoyable tour!

Great Tour
Really enjoyed our tour with Gleann. Learnt so much about the Civil Rights movement and history of the Bogside and surrounding areas. This tour would be of interest to anyone spending time in the area who would like an insight into Derry’s recent history. Gleann is an engaging guide with a vast knowledge of his home town.

DERRY had interesting murals.
Derry (pronounced dairy) was interesting murals. The rest of the town was not that interesting. We did a drive by, looking for the murals. It was the first town we saw in No. Ireland. It felt very different than the Republic of Ireland. The air ft heavy.

Hi Laura, I'm afraid you left a review of a tour you didn't do with us. Saying that you drove around Derry looking for murals would indicate that. We do walking tours that show you the murals in the Bogside, so there wouldn't be a need for you to drive around looking for them.

Learning so much from Peter who was so very obviously a proud Derry man - he was LegendDerry!! Such an experience to gain a much better experience of Derry in a historical and political sense

Living history

Gleann took us around his community and explained the history around Derry from the plantation right up to current times.

His explanation of the events leading to Bloody Sunday and its aftermath was very detailed with first hand knowledge of the tragedy and loss endured.

He was very generous with his time and knowledge and it was a excellent to walk through the citys living history with him.

If you want to gain some understanding of Bloody Sunday and Derry in general, give Gleann a shout.

fascinating tour with an emphasis on political history

Gleann Doherty offers an outstanding tour of Derry - he is warm, affable, and given his personal connection to Derry's history and to the events of Bloody Sunday, in particular, well positioned to give a really informative and comprehensive look at Derry's political history. We'd absolutely recommend Gleann's tour for anyone with an interest in learning about the development of Derry and its great importance to the conflict. We'd recommend a visit to the Tower Museum in Derry before doing the walk with Gleann, just because it gives an idea of Derry's early history, and then after the Bogside tour, a visit to the Museum of Free Derry.

Very thought provoking and interesting!
Gleann was an excellent guide, both friendly and very knowledgeable. There were 6 of us and we all felt that we had a better understanding of Bloody Sunday after listening to Gleann.

In summary a very thought provoking and interesting experience.

Touching and informative

Gleann was an amazing tour guide of the Bogside Murals. He was so knowledgeable and told us about the events leading up to and of Bloody Sunday in an engaging way, and encouraged us to ask him questions that we had as we went along. It was so touching how he spoke of his late father and his own experiences of growing up in Derry. I really felt that we learnt so much and it set the scene perfectly for us to spend some time in the Free Derry Museum. Thank goodness for people like Gleann who so candidly talk about the history of Northern Ireland and give an insight of how we can move forward.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your tour and the history of Derry. Doing the tour and then the Museum of Free Derry is a good way to experience the hisrory. I always encourage questions on the tour as the questions open different angles of the history and discussion.
