My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful tour! Dr Alison Duncan was our guide and she was fabulous! So delightful, knowledgeable, interesting, charming and just lots of fun!! The pace was perfect too. I learned so much from Alison

Allison was a phenomenal guide. Our three hours with her imparted hundreds of years of knowledge - she was both historically accurate and humorous-she guided one of the best tours we have ever been on. As a travel agent, I will definitely recommend this tour to my clients.

Fiona gave us such a great experience, taking us up and around and throughout Edinburgh to corners and reaches not easily found by out-of-towners without much research. She has a wealth of knowledge regarding Scotland and its complicated and long-lasting history. But beware! at the end of the tour she took us to the mausoleum of a very nasty man and taunted him to come after us! He made no efforts at the moment, but she said unless the (five) stars align, he could come at any moment, haunting us for the rest of our lives! It's a good thing she deserved 5 stars to begin with...

We had a wonderful time walking around Haystreet Market and parts of the Royal Mile with Steuart. He was so accomplished and shared his beautiful singing talents with us as well as historical knowledge. I made notes on some of my photos. There is all kinds of Harry Potter sites along the way as well.

The Royal Mike Walking Tour was a great experience. Douglas was a terrific guide, raconteur and we learned so much about this beautiful city. I highly recommend this tour!!!

The younger of the Steuart's was a good tour guide, seemed a bit ready to hit the pub, but who can blame him?! Gave us many neat facts about the history of Edinburgh with a bit of a cock-eyed sense of humor. While he walked us through many of the highlights of the Royal Mile, he also had a great number of hidden places to escape the crowd which was much appreciated! He dropped us off at a good central spot to go and explore from there. Overall, very good tour and it was a great way to get our lay of the land on our first day in the city!

Really enjoyed our tour with the guide Douglas. Douglas had a very pleasant manner. He provided lots of history and interesting tidbits in a manner that we could easily understand. You will need good walking shoes to cope with the cobblestones and steps. Appreciated that we were in a small group of 8. Also found Douglas very respectful of other groups we encountered… giving them their space. Well worth doing. You’ll learn heaps.

Thank you so much for your stellar Review! We are delighted that you enjoyed it so much with our equally stellar Guide, Douglas Graham. Small groups up to a maximum of 12 has always been the policy of Edinburgh Guided Tour. Obviously this makes for a better all round experience for the Tourist and Guide alike. You are right about having good walking shoes for the Old Town of Edinburgh ....... high heeled shoes for the ladies on Tour would very likely end up with a sprained ankle, Ouch!

How fortunate were we to have chosen this tour and had Stewart Usher as our guide. He lives and breathes the history and majesty of Edinburgh. This traveler was very appreciative that Mr. Usher kept the group to a small number so that we could all hear clearly and ask questions. I thoroughly enjoyed the few hours we spent with him.

Many, many thanks indeed for your wonderful Review of your Tour with myself! You are so right about the importance of keeping small in number. Unfortunately there are many Tours in Edinburgh with 20 to 40 Tourists. Many of these tourists cannot hear what the guide is saying and therefore soon lose interest. I am delighted that you enjoyed the Tour with me so much and would be delighted to see you in Edinbrgh again someday?!

The entrance ticket to the Royal Yacht Britannia,Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse is included in ONE of the Hop on Hop off bus tours,all three are included in your bus ticket, just look it up and choose the right option for you !

Hi, no this tour doesn't include entry to the castle but takes you around various locations near and on The Royal Mile. Richard was our guide and he was full of amazing and interesting information and history. He engaged with each of us (our group ranged in age from 18 through to 82) and even included his personal recommendations (which we took him up on) and a break for a cup of tea (his shout). We would thoroughly recommend this tour. Have fun :)
