Had Richard O'Brien as a driver and he was exceptional. We'd taken a Paddywagon tour before so knew what to expect as far as timing and driver quality. Richard was super knowledgable and friendly. Quality driver. What I like is how exactly they explain everything to make sure you know what to expect. Also, where they take you for lunch during the tour is always good food.
The trip itself was gorgeous. Highly highly recommend to anyone wanting to see the beauty of Ireland and learn about it too along the way.

We had originally booked to go on the tour the day before we actually went. We were badly caught up in traffic and we missed our tour. This was no problem, the staff in the booking office simply changed our date to the following day. We were so glad they did.
Our tour was driven by Richard O'brien. He was amazing and full of 'craic'. He made the whole tour. He was full of knowledge about the history and the area that added so much more to where we were actually going. His soundtrack for the tour was on point and he had us laughing the whole way.
We will he back in Ireland on holiday again next year and we will definitely be booking another tour.

My mom and I took the two-day Northern Ireland and Belfast tour with Paddy Wagon tours.
The bad:
We started out badly, as the pickup spot is the same one for multiple tours, and it’s not clearly indicated on the ticket where you’re being picked up. We went to the Paddy Wagon office as indicated by the address on the ticket, but we’re redirected to the Paddy’s Palace location a six-minute walk away. Paddy’s Palace was just a random building with no sign anywhere letting you know you’re in the right place until the big green busses show up.
The good:
Once he arrived, our driver had a white board with the names of the three tours that all were to board this bus (none of the other drivers had this). Once we got going, our driver was great, we kept pretty much on schedule and we were very happy with the tour.
Day one consisted of driving from Dublin to Belfast, spending two hours in Belfast where you had the option to take a Black Cab tour (DON’T MISS!! It was amazing!) and then a visit to the Titanic Museum before being dropped at the hotel.
Day two was when we broke off from the rest of the three-day and six-day tour participants. We were dropped off at a gas station outside Belfast where we waited for twenty minutes for another Paddy Wagon to come pick us up. This sounds sketchy but it was totally fine. Our second driver was also great, and sang for us which was fun as well. We drove to the dark hedges where we stopped and got out for a walk through the trees and a bathroom break. Then on to the Giant’s Causeway where we had plenty of time to explore the causeway and interpretive centre if we chose to. Then we stopped for lunch in a small town which wasn’t the usual stop because it was a bank holiday. Next it was back to Belfast.
Here was the biggest difference to me as someone who was on the tour the day before — because of the holiday there was nothing open. And no time for a black cab tour because we were only in the city for half an hour or so. Even if shops had been open, you would not have had nearly the experience we had with the black cab tour that explained all about the troubles.
The unsettling:

Richard O'Brien was our guide and I must say, if you get a tour, ask for him! We went to soany places and his knowledge of(as well as experience in) history was amazing. We learned so much and had many laughs along the way. Have the craic on these tours and Richard!

Very informative day out. Driver Jackie was the best bit about this day which sadly fell short on a few things. Jackie is very entertaining and shared his knowledge of Irish history.l and it was great to see the Dark Hedges and have an hour in Belfast but it is all a rush and an hours black cab tour at €20 each ended up being about 45 mins and not quite what we expected. Also sadly the rope bridge is closed which we were not forewarned about (it has been closed for some time) and no discount was offered-very disappointed about this. It’s a little overpriced as there is no entrance fee to the causeway but the fee paid to Paddywagon tours does not include the visitor centre at the causeway-that’s another €19.99 so really you are just paying for the journey meaning you can’t use the toilets in the visitor centre and have to hot foot it into the local hotel to their toilets. The bus doesn’t even park in the car park but in a lane across the road. That said Jackie did stop at lots of places to take photos. The main problem with this tour was the stop for lunch- the Giants Barn. Horrible overpriced cafe at best with tasteless food served canteen style. All sitting there in hot trays but it’s not self service. At €30 for 2 lunches and a bottle of water - €6 for 2 slices of bread!!!! I had a tasteless sausage and carrot casserole (disgusting) served with more carrots….! They refused to serve me tap water insisting I pay for bottled water at around €3 for a small bottle! It was dreadful I recommend you take your own lunch. We were expecting to stop at a Pub not this awful place. Giants causeway is beautiful but I’d recommend researching other ways to get there if you are in Dublin.

Our tour guide, Jackie, skillfully intertwined historical knowledge and personal anecdotes throughout the tour. His comical, insightful, and candid approach made for a very positive experience. Expectations on timeliness were clearly set and followed.
The main stops on the tour, Giant’s Causeway and Belfast City Center (The Black Cab Tour), were incredible. My only criticism is that our time felt short, especially at the Causeway. I’d sacrifice the less significant stops on the tour for more time here.
Jackie’s personal recommendations were successful l both on and off the tour. Good guy.

Similar to Mamrosa2 - we will be carrying our luggage with us as this will be in between hotel bookings. Is there room to store the carry-on luggage for two people or is it just intended to be backpack friendly?

In the morning you will store your luggage in the bus. At the end of the day the bus driver will retrieve your luggage for you and send you on your way to the accomodations for the evening. The next day you will store your luggage again in the bus.

Hey Yvonne,
To answer your questions:
Typically there can be up to 30/40 people on the bus but I assume it can also depend on the time of year and how busy it is. Some of the tours have optional additional costs for example with Northern Ireland you can also take a black taxi tour which is 15 Euro a person and you have to buy your own lunch and dinner. The buses are comfortable coach buses. Great for travel!

Hi Yvonne!
To answer your questions, I believe there can be about 30 - 40 people on the tour, depending what time of the year and how many sign up for that particular tour. As to added fees there are optional experiences that you can do alongside a tour. For example, on the Northern Ireland one you can do a black Taxi tour and that an extra 15 euro but it’s your choice to go or not (I’d recommend it) and then you have to pay for lunch and dinner. The buses are very comfortable coach style - large and spacious.
