There were 4 of us on the tour with Alexander (2 couples), and we are all pretty well read. That said, we learned a lot about the authors highlighted on the tour. It was fun to do readings and even acting out scenes from plays along the way. Alexander is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his subject.
The one suggestion I would have is to possibly be more open to discussing some more current Irish authors as well. For example, I brought up Frank McCourt and we had a very good discussion about him. It would have been nice to discuss other authors whose work might be a little more accessible than someone like Joyce or Yeats. I'm not disappointed - we got what we signed up for. Just a suggestion.

Alexander is passionate about Irish literature & Joyce in particular. However, he's not a professional guide & it shows. He assumed I knew more than I did about Irish writers (I'm fairly well read,but not enough Irish writers for this tour) & I didn't really feel like I could ask questions without feeling inadequate.
He included readings at various spots,which was interesting, but didn't airways explain the significance of the sites.
The visit to Sweny's Chemist was charming (the elderly proprietor is a sweet man).
This tour is really more for a true aficionado of Irish authors (Joyce in particular)
