I’m not sure how to pronounce her name but it sounded like Sylvia. She was outstanding! Very knowledgeable, informative, and never rushed. Highly recommend!

There's always the option to go solo and use the audio guide to learn more. I did that with the Louvre so I could go at my own pace. But when visiting a place like Versailles it's really nice to have someone who's well versed in the stories and excited to bring them to life for you as you explore.
Our guide Cecilia was fantastic!! She had a mix of people and managed to engage with us all. You could tell she truly enjoyed the history of Louis XIV, XV & XVI - or as she says the Sun King, Fun King & Done King. She could answer all our questions and had wonderful anecdotes all throughout the palace.
You finish in the gardens and after a brief intro are free to explore on your own.
I highly recommend taking the Petite Train around the grounds and using the audio guide you can scan on the side of the ticket booth.

So many thanks for this great and highly detailed review! We do agree that visiting a place so packed with history as Versailles needs a tour guide and one who knows their stuff. It delights us to know that you took advantage of our line skipping abilities to just take in the gardens on your own afterward, as you say, at your own pace. On easy and time efficient way to see the Palace. Our transportation guide, Barrett (an American from CO), met us near the train station and accompanied us to the Palace. He walked around the train while offering advice on things to do in Paris, transportation options, etc.
He left us at the palace (10 minute walk from train station on flat ground with only one turn) in the hands of another guide who was with us for 2+ hours and did an excellent job. We had headsets and as such could hear the guide even if we wandered off to take pictures. We had ample time but could not really linger long.
The Palace is quite crowded but if you are quick you can get some pictures without any or too many people in the shot.
As it was winter, the garden fountains were not on, most statues in the gardens were covered and nothing was in bloom. Accordingly, when our guide left us we did not spend much more time on the grounds.
The benefit of going by train (vs coach) is that you could stay on the grounds longer or in town if you liked - a better option in warmer weather. The train also had other stops in Paris closer to other attractions like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, so don't necessarily get off where you boarded the train in Paris. Trains run every 15 minutes or so and are easy to find and catch.

Thank you so much for this detailed review of the services we offer. We do make a point of escorting our guests to the palace to make sure no one gets lost or confused along the way; And we love it when people take advantage of our line skipping possibilities to spend more time there, at least if the Northern French weather agrees. If only we had the possibility of placing flowers in the winter gardens as the did in the time of the Sun King! Thank you again for this fantastic review and all the close attention to detail that other visitors could benefit from. The Memories family so appreciates it!

Our guided tour of Versailles was a seamless experience. Our first guide Edmond was punctual and helpful, providing clear instructions about train logistics and return journey details.
At Versailles, Marian took over as our guide, delivering an informative tour of the palace's rooms in excellent English. She was engaging and responsive to visitor questions, though the group's microphone system experienced some technical difficulties. Despite the extremely cold weather, which limited our exploration of the gardens, we thoroughly enjoyed our palace visit. The tour's professional organisation and knowledgeable guides made the experience memorable.

A must see. Worth every penny to book a tour. Even in October the grounds were beautiful. The palace is gorgeous. Enjoyed the tour because it provided such history and insight.

In our view, October is a lovely time to come see Versailles gardens, arraying themselves in autumnal tones. And then we adore showing you around the palace itself no matter the season. There is so much history, as you say and getting a perspective on that while enjoying the storytelling and the sightseeing can't be beat. Thanks so much for this stellar review- it makes our day!

Johnny is a great guide. There is so much information and he explains it well. It was like being in a history/art history course. I’m very glad we were able to have him as our guide.
The meet up location and guide who met us for the train ride to. Versailles was excellent. He was very accommodating and friendly; always smiling and friendly. It was a great start to a really good day!

Absolutely adored our guide Claire. From the first few minutes, it was clear she had a deep understanding of the history of Versailles, not just facts memorized from á textbook. While the basics were covered fully, she also customized the tour to the audience (in our case, an all-American group). Due to the weather and time of year, we couldn’t spend a great deal of time outdoors , but she made up for that and then some on the inside tour. I would definitely recommend Memories tour company and Claire to anybody else who’s looking for a meaningful tour

Right from the start everything worked like clockwork. The meeting at the cafe was a very logical spot, along with many others on the tour we enjoyed breakfast. Having arrived early enough to enjoy the well appointed cafe. From there on everything flowed with our initial guide greeting and informing us about the adventure ahead. Sadly, only people from the USA needed to be told more than twice. The train journey led us to the grand forecourt of Versailles. Here we meet our Palace tour guides, being broken up into smaller groups , and equipped with bluetooth ear pieces ,we proceeded into the Palace. (Skip the que Sir) Our Guide “Humberto” was fantastic. Informative, personable, and always in view.
It gets very busy inside the palace , there are dozens of tour groups doing exactly what you are doing. No matter, Humberto was always on the ball. Very experienced and informative knowing how to manage these situations, we missed nothing. He really knew his stuff and deserved his tip. (As Australians we generally do not tip, unless the service is well above average or better. Well done Humberto! ) I can only recommend this tour based on our experience with the guide we had. However, the luck of the draw should still deliver a great day out. The guided tour finishes in the gardens where you are issued your all lines train ticket to return home. You can then stay as long as you please to enjoy the whole experience over again . As usual you exit via the souvenir shop, There are some tempting items.
We are very pleased we booked this tour via TripAdvisor . It was one of four we pre -booked for our short stay in Paris . Highly recommend.

We are just over the moon about this glowing and detailed review, which we will absolutely be passing on to Humberto! He'll be just as thrilled as we are. We so appreciate knowing that we hit just the bull's eye we're aiming for in terms of both the tour itself, as well as its organization, making sure our guests get right where they need to be and when and finally navigating the crowds that are part and parcel of Versailles. you are able to pick any time to get back to Paris. but make yourself aware of the last train to leave, because it does take a little bit of a walk to get back to the train station from the palace.

We used Skip the line so we were finished with our tour and a bit of gardens by noon. We met our guide in the city at 8 am and he escorted the group onto the train and from the train up the entrance gate (a short walk- maybe .3 mile) by 9.
So yes 3 hours is enough but we wanted to explore the gardens more and have lunch at one of the little places in the garden, so we hung out longer, then took the train back by 3

There is a restaurant in the Gardens, and two snack shops where you can buy crepes etc.. The restaurant is offers Italian cuisine The seating at the snack shops is limited. In addition, the Palace and gardens are close to town where there are many other dining options.
