Exceptional - an absolute highlight

This tour was my favourite part of my trip to Paris. Even in the rain it was amazing. The guides had fantastic rain coats that kept us completely dry, and blankets for our picnic lunch.

Riding a bicycle was a great way of seeing Versailles. The markets had a huge array of fresh food to sample and the lunch location by the canal was beautiful.

The gardens and the palace are just unbelievable. The beauty, precision and maintenance requirements are immense. This complex was created at a very different time in Paris’ history, which we got to learn more about on the tour.

Highly recommended for everyone. I hope to come back with my family.

Highlight of our Paris Trip!

What a fun and fantastic way to experience the Palace and grounds, the outstanding markets and the lovely town of Versailles! From meeting us at the train station in the morning, to our return that afternoon, our expert guide, Nicolas, took good care of us. He was friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and really made this tour extra-special. The day was definitely a highlight of our Paris trip.

Loved everything about this tour - great mix of biking, walking, history and sights! But by far the best part was our guide, Clara - smart, funny, caring, and a brlliant historian/actress! Loved every part of this day!

Best way to see Versailles!

I've been to Versailles several times before, but this was a much better way to experience it. Our guide Marijke was wonderful! She was personable, knowledgeable, and concerned with everyone's safety along the way. Arriving at the palace early and having an early entrance time was a big advantage, helping to get through that part of the tour before the crowds built to their maximum. Riding through the town, experiencing the food market, and picking out and purchasing our lunch was fun. The opportunity to then ride back to Versailles and have a picnic lunch in the park at the foot of the lake looking back toward the palace on a beautiful fall day was magical. Visiting the Queen's Hamlet was a bonus experience. This is the way to see Versailles!

Favorite day on my Paris Trip!
Wow ! From beginning to end this trip was fantastic! Claudio our guide made this trip memorable. Making sure we were comfortable on our bikes, making sure we had the best secrets of the food market and he hit all the beautiful spots we would have missed if we tried to do this trip on foot! The best part of this trip was this magical bike ride as the fall leaves were gently coating the ground through the open parks of Versailles. I can’t tell you how magical it was. In a grand finale Claudio told the tragic history of the fate of the royal family and our group got goosebumps and teary eyed and Applauded his story with claps! It’s will be an adventure I will always cherish!

Best way to see Versailles, bar none!
Boutique Bike Tours was a perfect experience from start to finish. I booked a few weeks in advance for our honeymoon in Paris, and they were very prompt and helpful over email, with great directions to their meeting spot.

Overall: fantastic tour, fabulously fun day, great history and tons of fun! Don’t stress if you aren’t athletic, my wife was 4 months pregnant and had no problem! Our guide, Eleanor, was professional, smart, and hilarious, she made for an awesome day. ***Book on the weekend!!! The farmers market is open, and the fountains are all running!!!***

Meeting at Gare du Montparnasse is easy, they even had pictures in the email to help guide us around the station. We took the fast train to Versailles with our guide and picked up our bikes, cruiser style, some with baskets and panniers. Easy ride to the amazing farmers market for cheese tasting and some time to buy lunch, we spent about 50€ and had plenty of food and drink **Bring cash, easier than card** we then toured the gardens, with ~10 minute east rides on the bike broken up by short walks to see beautiful sights and hear the stories of Versailles. We had lunch on the grand canal, picnic blankets and cutlery all supplied by our fantastic host, Eleanor!
Then we headed to the palace for a quick espresso and then skipped the line for a tour of the palace. Even if you have been before, having a guide and combining it with the tour of the grounds really made it a unique experience. We finished up about 5, rode our bikes back to the train station to bid au revoir to Versailles… amazing experience, 6/5 stars!!!

Tips:
Bring cash for tips and the market
If you can ride a bike at all, you’ll do great on the tour
We were pretty tired out at the end of the day, so don’t plan a anything big that evening
By far the best way to see Versailles!!!

Versailles in a day!

This tour was the highlight of our trip! It is very long, from 8am-6pm, but really a good deal for the price. We explored the entire grounds via bike and our guide was so knowledgeable about every stop. The inside of the palace was beautiful and I appreciated it a lot more since we learned so much from our guide, Claudio. 10/10!

Value and more for money

First up, Eleanor (tour guide) was most pleasant and very knowledgeable. She made the tour an entire success. Everything ran to time and was entirely smooth. All instructions were clear and easy to understand. We chose the biking tour for an alternative and fun experience. This tour went above and beyond our expectations and was the highlight of our trip. Lots of fun things to do and experiences (don't want to spoil surprises). We were also able to garner prespective and historical knowledge about many of the sites.... Also makes a wonderful tour to propose to that special loved one ;)

One of the Best Ways to Tour Versailles!

What a fantastic tour. My group was only 7, so it was practically private, and we had the wonderful Dina as our guide. She showed a true passion for the history of Versailles and even though I consider myself very well-real on history, I still learned quite a lot!

Exploring by bike allowed us to see so much more of the palace and grounds as opposed to simply walking around. It is truly the best way to get around.

We began our day meeting with Dina and getting our bikes, and then we were off to the palace to tour the inside. The palace cannot be described in words, such opulence, such beauty! I truly wish we could have spent more time exploring the less-traveled rooms of the palace. It may have added time to the journey, but I would have had no problem with that!

From the palace we explored some of the inner gardens down to the Latona fountain. The fountains were running since it was a weekend so it was quite a treat to see them in their full splendor. Again, I wish we had time to delve deeper into the groves and hidden nooks and crannies of the inner gardens, but alas, we had to forge on to make it to the market in time.

After a pitstop at the gift shop, we rode through picturesque Versailles town to the market, which was like my weekend farmer's market back home times 1000. I was simply overwhelmed at all the options, but managed to put together a diverse array of delicacies to try at our picnic lunch.

After this, we rode back through the park of Versailles down beautiful tree-lined lanes by verdant fields, the palace shimmering in the distance. We arrived for our picnic along the Grand Canal, and had a wonderful time chatting and enjoying our lunches.

From there, we went on to the Grand and Petit Trianon's (exterior only- the interiors have nothing left of the decorations of the ancien regime, they were all overhauled by Napoleon and his successors, so not too much to see in there). Following this, we strolled through the English Garden and onto the Queen's Hamlet. What a treasure! You can truly feel Marie Antoinette's passion for the natural world, and her desire to escape the gilded cage of the palace. It is like a fairy-tale village you would find in Disney World's Fantasyland. Unfortunately, the interiors are closed to the public as a result of some people not being respectful in the past, but again, the interiors here are all from Napoleon's time and the following decades, so not much of Marie left in there anyway.

We rode back through town to the train station from there and made our way back to Paris!

This was an incredible experience. My ONLY disappointment was that it wasn't longer! I would have happily stayed into the night if it meant exploring every inch of the treasure trove that is Versailles... But alas, does that not give me an excuse to return once again? :)

Versailles and Claudio were exceptional!
Such a wonderful day full day. Biking and picnicking in Versailles with an excellent and knowledgeable guide, Claudio. The palace was opulent and the gardens beautiful. Must do tour and awesome experience!
