Wonderful tour and nice guide!
我们在里昂只有半天时间,但导游Julie为我们安排了非常好的行程.她从火车站接上我们,带我们去了当地的主要景点,Fourvière, traboules, fresques... 她人非常好,讲解非常生动有趣,她还帮我们定了一家非常好的当地特色午餐餐厅.我们很喜欢这次旅行!

On my way to Marseille for a meeting, I decided to spend 2 days in Lyon. I had never visited the area, but am enthusiastic about the wines. The tour of the northern Rhone was introductory. We met at the Tourist Office in the main square of Lyon (Place Bellecour). It is close to a subway stop with the same name (I bought a 2 day pass for subway and trolleys that worked well). We drove south from Lyon in a 9 passenger van with our guide as driver. We visited Cote Rotie, Hermitage, Cross-Hermitage and several other areas. We visited two wineries, had a nice lunch at a restaurant owned by a winery and finished the day at the local wine cooperative (Cave de Tain) in Tain-Hermitage where we tasted some excellent wines and I purchased a couple bottles of the 2017 Hermitage. Our guide, Mathilda (sp?) was broadly knowledgeable about the region and the wines, but did not have the in depth knowledge that a guide on a subsequent tour of the Southern Rhone (Gigondas and Chateauneuf de Pape) possessed. The tour was a quality entry level tour of the region. I am in my mid-70s and do not hear as well as I would like. If you have any hearing issues, request a seat near the front of the van as there is no public address system in the bus. What I found remarkable is how small the wine producing areas of the northern Rhone are. It is no wonder that Cote Rotie and Hermitage are pricey wines.

Our trip to the Northern Rhône Valley with Julia was wonderful. We learned a lot about the region, the various wines, and the process of decanting! In the afternoon, between wineries, we had lunch at a charming local restaurant. We had such a good time. The wine was glorious, the coach was comfortable, and the hospitality was superb. Highly recommended.

Our tour guide was Martin and he also brought his wife along who was also amazing as both had a lot of tidbits to share about Lyon and the wineries along the Rhône Valley. I loved the intimate tour as it felt like just the right amount of people and it was really great getting to know everyone during the tour and at lunch. Martin graciously stopped and allowed us to get some chocolates near the last winery and we ended the tour with great views! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lyon!!

Our wine tour was informative, with some interesting smell tests on the way. We first made a stop at a small winery in Cote-Rotie. There we learned that cellars really have vineyards in more than one region in the northern Rhone, so we tasted wines from other portions of the northern Rhone region beyond just Cote-Rotie (such as St Joseph). We had lunch at a nice restaurant in Tain L’Hermitage (lunch not included in tour price). After that, we walked to another cellar where we tasted a few other northern Rhone regions, such as Hermitage and Cornas. Each of these wine stops included about 4 tastings. We also had a scenic stop with beautiful views of the Rhone Valley.

This full day
wine tasting tour was outstanding. We went to 2 different wineries with different appellations, and tasted several wines at each. There were 7 of us in the group which was a good number. The pacing for the day was perfect and our guide Mathilde was outstanding. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch was also outstanding. We had options to order a la carte, or 2 or 3 course prix fixe menus. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. My husband and I both ordered a salad with ravioli frites (mini raviolis that had been deep fried) and it was more than enough. I had ordered a cheese plate for dessert but the salad was such that I didn’t have room for the cheese, and so I took it home with me (made a great picnic dinner that night along with some meats, cheeses and olives we bought elsewhere). The weather was beautiful and on the way back to Lyon we had a surprise stop with a beautiful view and yes, more wine. I would highly recommend this tour.

This was a wonderful wine tasting experience, we had a great time with our host Mathilde very knowledgeable and super friendly, we tasted several great wines, incredible views as well. The van was also super clean, had fun on all places we visited. Highly recommended!

This was a wonderful day with Henry our guide. This area has spectacular scenery along the banks of the Rhone river.
What made the day special was the enthusiasm, wine and history knowledge of Henry. His interaction with us and all the wine places we visited made it a fun learning day.....the wine was really good too!
Henry looked after us really well and it was a day of fun and surprises.

This full day Northern Rhone Valley Day Tour out of Lyon was really fantastic. Mathilde our guide was truly amazing. She is very personable and she has a great personality and she is very knowledgeable in regards to the wines and vineyards in this Region. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and we were so lucky to have Mathilde as our guide for the day.

We got back a little after 18.00. However the traffic in the Presque Ile district of Lyon where you get dropped off is terrible, so the exact time you get back is going to vary somewhat depending on traffic I think.
