History lesson was good, but guide at last minute told us we had to pay extra for the tram and access to Heidelberg Castle, he even had us pay for his ticket as well which I thought was very unprofessional. Will not use this service again in the future.

Firstly thanks for your message & I’m obviously very disheartened to hear of your disappointment with your experience. I would like to respond to all your points & hope that we can find a satisfactory solution to this situation.
To my understanding you booked my two hour Heidelberg Old Town tour for 4 people on Friday 11th of August. I believe there were 2 other people on the tour booked in the name of Darren Pearce, who your group had some kind of connection with(?).
I currently offer 3 tours of Heidelberg - 1,2 & 2.5 hrs long. The 1 hr tour offers a general overview of Heidelberg & the 2 hr tour strives to go more in depth in the Heidelberg history & incorporate more sites. However neither of these tours includes going up to the Castle & touring the inside of it, because i don’t feel 2 hrs is sufficient time to do this. Since i understand this cd be confusing for the customer it does state on the description of the 2 hr tour that it does not include going inside the Castle itself.
I am assuming that this is possibly where a misunderstanding might have arisen that you thought you had already bought a ticket to the Castle itself with your TripAdvisor booking.
After consultation with Ecki your guide it seems that you might have purchased the Castle tickets for the other people in your group because you had some form of previous connection. Please let me know if this was not the case?
For now perhaps you might be willing to check the tour description as on my TripAdvisor page & to double check that your ticket did not say that entry to the Castle was included.
After that i would be happy to discuss this matter further with you & see how best i can resolve it your satisfaction.
I am happy to hear that this was your first trip to Europe & i very much hope that you enjoyed your experience here. I still have very good memories of my first trip to your country & the warmth & friendliness of the people.
It is important to me that i endeavor to resolve this situation positively for you.

Henry is a knowledgeable and charming person and wonderful guide. He has a deep knowledge of Heidelberg living here for 15 years but his birth language is English which made discussions easy and flowing. Plus, hee is a very good driver

Our experience was terrific. Henry was knowledgeable and funny, and had lots of insights into the history and life of Heidleberg. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and could have done several more hours.

Anreise ab Mannheim mit der S-Bahn.
Weiter mit der Straßenbahn zur Altstadt. Die Hauptstr. ist eine endlos lange Fußgängerzone mit sehr vielen Touris. Sehr schöne Umgebung mit interessanten Geschäften. Weiter mit der Bergbahn zum Schloß. Wartezeit eine knappe 1/2 Stunde. Nachmitttags wird es noch voller. Rückweg in glühender Hitze, kaum Schatten. Besuch der alten Neckarbrücke und dann ein schattiges Eiscafe gefunden Aber die vielen Touris !
Rückfahrt nach Mannheim mit der Tram. Viel gesehen.

Philipp was very informative. We enjoyed our tour of Heidelberg. In hindsight we probably should have booked a longer tour to allow for more things to be included but obviously that was our mistake. Nonetheless if you are short on time I highly recommend the 1 hr tour.

Such a lovely experience. Henry was so pleasant, knowledgeable and well prepared to be our guide. He even took a short detour through the pharmacy museum after I expressed interest.

What is the difference in the 2 and 3 hour tour? Does the tour include entry to Schloss Heidelberg? Thank you!

Hello Cyndy,
Thanks for your enquiry. Usually the tours do not include entry into the Castle itself, although we learn all about it from the outside & visit the amazing Castle garden. However entry into the Castle can easily be arranged if you ask for it in advance.
During the pandemic the Castle was closed and it‘s opening remains very changeable so it‘s not 100% certain that I can guarantee entry.
It would be a pleasure to show you around beautiful Heidelberg any time.

Yes, of course. I try to adapt all my tours to the interests/ ages & wishes of the group on each particular tour.
Ps; The lollipop shop tends to be a hit with my younger generation guests.

My wife and I are thinking of booking the tour. She is about 8 months pregnant so would there be any issues with the tour? I read about the 333 steps, so this might be something a bit too much but would rely on your expertise.

Yes, of course i can accommodate your pregnant wife - no problem at all. Indeed there’s a funicular railway up to the Castle which avoids the need for any steps at all.

Admission to the Castle( & student prison) is not included, however access to all other attractions on the tour are included.

Thanks for your enquiry. Yes,I'd be very happy to give you a Heidelberg Old Town & Castle tour on that day. Generally the tours start every hour from 09.00 to 15.00. However on that particular day it would suit me better to start at 09.00 or 10.00, if that works for you(?)
We usually spend about 1 hr in the Castle, but longer, or shorter, is also possible if you prefer. And, yes, the tours run whatever the weather.
