We booked this tour for 8 adults travelling through Europe by car in September. Amy emailed me offering a private tour.

We really enjoyed this tour and can highly recommend it to all who are interested in this topic! Tom is a friendly and very, very knowledgeable guide. Speaks clear English. He gave us a clear and detailed description of the various sites we went to, the time schedule was well build up, we skipped all lines and we went to the ground were the Berghof used to be. He picked us up on time at the hotel and drove us around the sites. It was not cheap but we thought it was worth it to get private tour in which you can ask a lot of questions (and he could answer them all) instead of being in a very large group. For people who want more inside info than a basic group tour provides.

Tom was superb. He has great knowledge of the history and the area. He included several photos of the period and took us to important areas that the masses of busload tourists didn’t see. I found those areas amazingly important in the history and the story of that time.
I highly recommend Tom as you personal tour guide.

You know your tour guide is knowledgeable and passionate about what he does if he lives in the areas he is touring and taking you through areas not open for everybody is awesome! It gives me goosebumps knowing where I was standing was the place where the decisions were made that turned the world upside down!

Very interesting tour. Moved along at the right pace and we were able to learn plenty of background information on all the spots we hit as well as the Berchtesgaden area. Lots of relevant key pictures from the past shown on Tom’s IPad helped with imagining how buildings and people used to look. As a guided tour he was able to show us a few things that are otherwise not accessible to the public. Tom Lewis is a certified Historical Tour Guide. He has great communicative skills. His ability to narrate the information in an understandable way was excellent. He always made sure we understood the information and inquired about additional questions. The sourcing of his information has lined him up as the „go-to“ expert on this historical area and WW2 era.

Outstanding private tour of the eagles nest and the third reich locations surrounding the area. Tom, our guide, www very knowledgeable and allowed the tour to flow as though we were private VIPs. His knowledge is second to none!

We have been on lots of guided tours around the world. Tom is, without a doubt, the best guide we have ever experienced. His clarity, friendliness,and deep knowledge and passion for the topic really stand out. 100% recommended.

We did the private half day tour and it was the best money spent so far on any tours. If you're wanting to get away from crowds, find out more about the real history of the Hitler's home and have the ability to ask any questions, then book this tour with Tom. He even shared his pictures with us for which we are really grateful. If you are considering a tour with Tom then book early as he is highly sort after.

I can honestly say that this was, far and away, the best tour we’ve ever completed! Tom is a treasure trove of information, and took us at our leisure to all of the places we wanted to go - and a lot that we didn’t even know about. We went in the late winter and didn’t realize that the Eagle’s nest is closed until sometime in May. We almost canceled and then thought maybe we will go see the actual ‘nest’ another time.
However, what I learned from Tom is that the Eagles nest site is actually a minor ‘player’ in the decisions that were made by Hitler during his reign. Instead, we went to Hitler’s home site (now largely destroyed) where all of the major decisions were made. There were only a few other tourists there at the time and we had Tom all to ourselves for nearly an hour. We visited the bunkers, other high ranking Nazi Officers’ houses, and numerous other relevant WWII sites. Tom’s narration was perfect for us to learn about this important time in world history.
At the end of the day, we decided that we absolutely got the best of all worlds, and don’t need to visit the actual ‘nest’. By all means, don’t let the winter closure of the site deter you - Tom more than makes up for the closure of the site. Fantastic tour, you won’t be disappointed!!!!
