Horses are not machines! Every carriage you ride is an exploited, exhausted, and sometimes broken horse under the weight of tourism.
Under the scorching sun, in the freezing cold, these animals suffer relentlessly for selfish photos and recreation.
Say NO to this archaic and cruel practice. Refuse to ride in a carriage. Refuse to be complicit in their suffering.
Tourism should never come at the cost of animal dignity!!!!

I find it hard to understand why anyone would go on a horse drawn carriage ride in a hot populated major city. These poor horses suffer in the extreme heat in the summer trotting through heavy traffic and along main roads causing major respiratory problems. They are exhausted, thin and with no quality of life and a future of death when their bodies give up. Please don't take a carriage ride as this will only encourage more horses in these cities.

I watched how ONE horse pulled a carriage of 5 people including coachman. The horse was nearly on its knees; the horses must work a 12 hour shift ; without food or water. Its barbaric !
The streets are cobbled; the shoes on the horses completely worn down.
I WOULD NOT ride in one
Spain really needs to up their laws on the way they treat their animals or face losing tourism ; it spoilt my trip to Seville and I would never go back

So so sad to see how the horses are treated. So many look like they are about to collapse from standing in blistering heat for hours on end with no water. When you speak to the owners to ask for water they are aggressive. Do not know how this is legal. Disgusting and there are so many around the city, ruined my time in Seville

A very pleasant time to discover Seville and its architectural gems. Only regret: Too bad the driver of the carriage doesn't speak French

Completely Heartbreaking!
I witnessed a lame horse being whipped to pull a carriage of 4 around Seville in blistering heat.
These poor horses go up and down hour after hour, day after day, probably year after year.
Often times they look malnourished and exhausted. Just last year a horse collapsed and dropped dead in the middle of the street.
How can people continue to support this?

The sight of all the carriage horses all around the city is a sad sight and we wouldn't dream of going for a ride. We saw the drives take good care of the carriage, but never did we see any offering their horse water, food or a friendly touch. The horses seem apathetic and without any spirit. I hope someone is smart enough to find a modern way of letting tourists meet these amazing animals with their welfare in focus. I would pay for that.

Warning: scam!!! The ride was supposed to last 45 minutes to an hour (45 euros). It only lasted barely 25 minutes. An uninteresting journey (fortunately we had visited Seville on foot the two previous days. This carriage ride was planned before leaving to take the plane phew, did a last tour of the city). A rather unpleasant driver. It was the only disappointment of this magical city. I hope my opinion will dissuade some people from wasting their money unnecessarily!

I don't understand how they have the horses running around all day without drinking at 45 degrees pulling a cart with so much weight, the city council must stop this, there are other means such as trains or strollers to ride tourists and not mistreat an animal that cannot be defended
