We didn’t want to get back at 2:30 AM since we had plans the next day . If everything went as planned we would have returned at 11:30 PM . We paid extra for the ferry , lunch and camel ride 303 euros . But our driver had a flat tire . The tour company wanted us to find a taxi to get to a car rental place to get on the ferry we didn’t have tickets on to meet our guide saying everything would have just been delayed. We just wanted to cancel since it was there issue not ours . We didn’t like returning at 2:30 am ish instead of 11:30 . Traveladvisor had no issue refunding our tour but not just a tourist is refusing refunding the 303 Euros we paid because they say they offered us a later time . I feel like since we didn’t require them to pay for a rental car or another ferry ticket they would not be out any extra money or was the plan all along to make us pay the additional amount .

I am very sorry Jennie that I cannot be more of help with this. You decided to cancel the tour at the tour start because there was a delay due to the flat tire. If you check the tour's description it says clearly that the tour time is flexible since there is a land transfer and a ferry and you are traveling to another country and another continent. I am sure as a traveller you know that same day cancelations are not possible. No tour company or airlines makes a refund or cancel a flight or a tour because there is a bit of delay. I also explained on the phone that a refund will not be possible so you can take the right decision and there is transparency. A refund was not possible as your driver was there, the car was there, the ferry was booked and you had already the tickets, the guide was there, the lunch was booked, the tickets were purchased... I think it would be very unfair to expect a refund and not pay all the suppliers and staff who were involved in your tour. For your future travels please take into consideration that a tour has a lot of logistics and. expenses involved and it is not possible to cancel a tour on the tour date. That would help all of us to work with more ease and as a traveller you would enjoy your trip much more too. I am sorry if you decided to give a miss on this beautiful tour. I am sure you would have loved it and hopefully you can make it back and we would be happy to accommodate you as best as we can.

We had such an amazing tour with Bacheer! He took us to the Cave of Hercules, we rode camels on the beach, walked through the Medina, and had a lovely Moroccan lunch. It was the highlight of our 2 week trip! I highly recommend this tour if you have the time.

If you are looking for an introduction to Morocco, this trip is for you! Our trip to the ferry was a bit hectic as we got there with very little time to spare, but the instructions from Not Just a Tourist were very clear so we made it onto the ferry with ease. Once we arrived in Morocco, our local travel guide, Muhammad, was excellent. His enthusiasm to help and knowledge for the area was second to none. I cannot recommend this trip more to people who do not have time to do an in depth trip to Tangiers but want to get a taste for another country while in Spain.

This was a very long day (8am to 2am) door to door, beautifully executed and wonderfully experienced excursion. Driver Juan Luis picked us up at the hotel (Seville) and drove us to the ferry 2.5 hours away in Tarifa, and he was also waiting when we returned on a delayed ferry at 11:30 pm. The ferry experience , going through customs, etc was busy but clear enough. In Tangier we were greeted by our guide for our private day long tour for two. Morad is a scholar- historian, an elder (79 years old and quite sprite) with an abundance of relevant historical, architectural and cultural knowledge made the day a unique experience. As we asked more questions, he added additional relevant sites to see ( e.g. a synagogue with ancient Torah, a public oven). After seeing so many cathedrals, Catholic relics etc. in Spain, it was a very interesting contrast to see Muslim and Jewish culture, monuments etc. in Tangier. Many highlights but one not to miss is the camel rides on the beach! Great trip!

Wow, what an experience.

We made our first trip to Morocco -- and to Africa! -- yesterday, courtesy of Not Just a Tourist. We're in the midst of a two-week trip around Spain, but we really, really, really wanted to make a side trip to Tangier while we were in this region. Lucky for us, this tour was available as a full-day trip all the way from Seville where we were staying.

Traveling there involved getting picked up by a driver in Seville (complicated by the fact that our hotel was located in the beautiful Barrio Santa Cruz and can't be reached by car), a 2+ hour drive to Tarifa, Spanish customs, a frenetic ferry boarding, Moroccan customs on the ferry, an hour-long ferry ride, and a series of security checkpoints. Waiting for us outside the Morocco ferry terminal with our name printed out was our delightful guide, Mohamed. More on our guide in a minute.

But first, kudos to the gang at Not Just a Tourist who worked really hard to make sure that everything was lined up for us and paid for ahead of time, and that we had all the information we needed at every step of the way. We referred back to the trip notes they sent us many times throughout the day, particularly the bits about navigating the ferry terminal and customs requirements. Also, a shout out to our driver in Spain, Jose, for graciously and smoothly getting us all the way there and back with a smile, despite the fact that the return ferry was very late getting us back to Tarifa.

Our guide in Morocco, Mohamed, was among the best we've ever had. He didn't just show us the historical sights, he made an effort to connect us to the place culturally. He shared insights into the various peoples of the region, to their own cultural roots, to their ways of life and to their ways of looking at the world. My wife and I were deeply moved by the care and thoughtfulness with which he approached his work. We ended the day feeling like we had truly experienced this new place instead of just seeing it.

Oh, and thanks also to our driver in Tangier who was also very helpful and gracious, and somehow got us safely through the tangled chaos of traffic that we encountered at every turn.

I recommend this trip! Just know that the ferry crossing involves being very patient and navigating some potentially frustrating hiccups with clunky check-in and customs processes.

I think Not Just a Tourist will agree that my experience was not a typical one. I will do my best to parse out what was due to circumstances and how the company responded to those circumstances in a factual way.

To start off with, somehow our reservation didn't make it into their system. I reached out about some customizations, and that was fixed quickly. We knew about the add-on charges for ferry tickets, camel rides, and lunch, and paid those via an invoice before the start of our tour.

Then came some surprise fees. The first one was to make our trip private: this seemed odd to me, since the tour was listed as max of 8 people, and we had 8 passengers. According to the messages from the coordinator, the real max size is 10. I didn't argue, and paid the €100, since we were doing some customization to the tour. Those customizations included dropping off two couples in Tangier to continue their travels in Morocco: one at a hotel and one at the train station. Each of those drop offs were €35. This seemed a little steep, but it's a convenience charge, so I paid it for both without complaint.

Next, I got the email with the recommended amounts of gratuities, all to be paid in cash. We were mostly operating with cards on our trip, so getting cash became a task we needed to complete before the tour. The recommendation was €40-50 for each the Spain driver and the Morocco guide, and €20 for the Morocco driver. We pulled enough cash to do that. There was mention in the email about a waiting fee, to be paid directly to the driver if the ferry was late on return, at €20 per hour. Again, seemed reasonable. We had enough cash to cover an hour or two, figuring we wouldn't be that late.

Due to weather conditions, the departing ferry was delayed by quite a bit of time (1.5+ hours). The tour guide waited for us, and the coordinator reached out to ask if we wanted to take a later ferry back, so that we could get the full tour experience. We would need to pay the waiting fee for those 2 hours difference (€40). Those of use who were returning agreed that it would be worth it, and our return tickets were adjusted from the 6 pm to the 8 pm ferry.

The time in Morocco itself was magical! The camel ride was a delightful new experience. The walk through the Casbah was informative, and our guide was really wonderful. The lunch was superb, and accounted for some dietary restrictions without complaint (gluten intolerance and vegan). Seeing the loom at the Berber fabric shop was fascinating - a few of us in our group are also crafters so the loom was really fun to see.

Seemed like everything was going swimmingly, and those of us who were returning to Seville were back to the ferry terminal in time for the 8 PM ferry. Then the return ferry was late. Very late. We didn't board the departing ferry until well after 9 pm, closer to 10 pm. This put us 4 hours behind schedule, and we didn't have enough cash to account for this.

I was disappointed to not get a response when I requested that we pay this fee via an invoice instead of in cash - I wanted a receipt in order to submit to my travel insurance due to the delays to offset some of this unexpected cost. I didn't get a response to that request, one way or another, but I expect that it was because it wasn't something they could do.

It was 3 AM in Seville by the time we were dropped off by our driver. I was supposed to take another tour the following day with Not Just a Tourist, and to their credit, they did make adjustments to the start time to account for the very late night. By the time we reached our hotel room, neither my partner or I was excited about another long day, so we opted not to take that tour at all, which was disappointing, but the right call for us.

Thanks a lot Laura for sharing your experience. I am really sorry your ferry was so delayed both ways and appreciate a lot the way you handled it. It was certainly a quite tiring day for all of us involved in this. This is the second time this happened in 6 years we have been running this tour and I am very sorry it affected your trip. I believe when we travel we have a beautiful time but we also face challenges. It seems in that sense your trip exceeded in both. As you know and although it was a weekend I and our entire team supported and communicated with you throughout the day trying to adapt your trip as much as possible to make up for the ferry delay. Regarding the charges, I am sorry if they seem a bit steep to you. If you consider you had an almost private 24/7 concierge service with a lot of last-minute changes, charges such as 35 euros for a private transfer or 100 euros to make an entire trip for 8 people private seems very little to me. I hope this makes sense. Also, the email you mentioned talking about gratuities, is meant as a guide for our clients to know what to expect and how to prepare themselves for their transcontinental trip. Mostly, they appreciate the valuable tips included in the email explaining the dress code and the local customs or the importance of having travel insurance before leaving home. If you need an invoice for what you paid please send us an email. I cannot guarantee to respond to WhatsApps sent in the middle of the night at the weekend. Again, I am very sorry this was not the most perfect day we all would have imagined. I wish you many great and delay-free trips! I hope you can come back to Morrocco and enjoy this wonderful country stress-free.

While it is a long day, this trip was amazing. The drive to Tarifa was smooth and the driver was great at pointing out the sights. The ferry ride was easy and the guide/driver in Tangier were also awesome. Lots of sightseeing in Tangier to be had, it was a significantly different place than most think of and the guide did a wonderful job of explaining the history and how things have changed throughout time.

Our family of 5, including daughters 23 and 16 and son age 12, had an awesome time on our trip to Tangier. It was a little unexpected that we shared a shuttle to and from the ferry with 2 other families, but it wasn't an issue. Once in Tangier, we had our own personal guide, Hassan, and driver.

Hassan (may not be correct spelling) was excellent and provided extremely interesting information about the sites, culture, and the uniquely friendly relationship Morocco has had with the USA since 1776.

Highly recommend him as a guide! Unlike some of the other reviews, our ferry rides and lunch (except for drinks) were all included in the price we paid up front.

For lunch, there were two chicken dishes offered and both were delicious. We chose not to ride the camels and spent some extra time shopping in the market.

It was a long day but totally worth it!

I was traveling with my two college age daughters for our day trip to Tangier. I booked months in advance and communication from Mahsa was excellent and thorough. We paid in advance for the ferry tickets, camel ride and lunch and the rest was billed later closer to the tour. Our driver, Juanlu, was on time, courteous and a good driver. While he did not speak English, he used his translator app to communicate with us and point out some sites. Once at the Tarifa port, we picked up our reserved tickets from the FRS ticket office. We boarded the 11:00 am ferry which lasts about an hour. Our crossing was a bit windy and rocky, so take dramamine if prone to seasickness. We were all good, but a few passengers were not. Our Moroccan guide was waiting for us at the port exit. Our guide was excellent and such a good ambassador for Tangier and Morocco and our driver was great. We went to several overlooks for the view and pictures, Cape Spartel to see the old lighthouse, camel riding on the beach, walking tour of the old town and fortress of Tangier, tasty Moroccan lunch, and shopping at a lovely textile shop and apothecary. Our guide was so personable, informative and so helpful with taking pictures of our family. He captured wonderful footage of us on the camels -- video and pictures! I really appreciated his attentiveness to answer all of our questions and to explain history, culture and details to us. He enjoyed sharing about his city and country and our driver was always ready to pick us up and drive us safely to the next spot. We packed a lot into the day and it was worth it! Our guide helped us to pick up our return ferry tickets at the FRS and dropped us at the terminal door. The return ferry ride was smooth and our Spain driver was waiting for us at the meeting spot. Juanlu returned us safely to Seville. It was a fantastic and most memorable day and I recommend to go!

It’s a long trip from Sevilla but so worth it. The tour coordinator Mahsa was very responsive before the tour. They coordinated pick up from our hotel (Juan Luis~excellence. He was early picking us up and waiting for us when we returned. Our guide, Charif Tangier, was outstanding. He’s so caring and personable. We rode camels, held snakes and saw how carpets are made. It’s a 16-17 hour trip so be prepared.
