Fantastic Picos Tour

Great flexibility, Juan was very knowledgeable, great views. We explored the Picos, had great (unique) food. No way we could have done optó on our own. It was worthwhile.

Must See - Picos de Europa

I could not recommend this any higher!! Juan was so nice, so knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with. He took us through all these small towns, stopping for an expresso, giving us the history of each place as we passed through, and then up the gravel roads to the furthest spot you can go by suv. He took photos and then took us out to a fantastic local lunch in a tiny village. The food was fantastic and having Juan there to guide us, translate for us and answer our many questions is something we would never have been able to experience had we tried this on our own. Well worth the money!!

Beautiful day visiting the Picos de Europa with Juan

We had a wonderful day with Juan. We arrived at Bilbao port and took Zone Transfers to Santander where we met Juan. We had such a beautiful day. Having spent a lot of time in Spain, I never saw the northern part of the country. I really wanted to see the Picos de Europa. We stopped to see Potes, continued on the Hotel Oso for a fabulous lunch, and then up to the Picos. Juan has a great vehicle to climb these beautiful mountains. We stop at the base of peaks for a coffee and then continued on our journey. I was so glad we did this tour! Then as we were off the coast of Spain under sail, we saw them again from a different view point, breath taking! Thanks Juan!

Your first choice for personalized tours in Northern Spain

If you are considering booking a tour (this one or any other) with Northern Spain Private Tours, do not hesitate - book it now! Our tour of the Picos de Europa with Juan was one of the highlights of our visit to Spain. We have visited Spain numerous times previously but always the South. This was our first visit to the north of Spain and it was simply indescribable. We love all of Spain but the lush beauty of the north is something I think so many people pass by for the "typical" Spain of Madrid and Andalucia. Working with Juan was a pleasure from start to finish. He designed a full-day tour of some of the highlights of the Picos and even added a stop for us in Santillana del Mar at our request. Having grown up in the area and being a geologist by profession, Juan's knowledge of the region and its treasures is second to none. On top of this, Juan is an excellent driver, friendly companion, and an all-around great guy which is no small thing when you are planning to be together for hours on end. Our family enjoyed spending the day with him and getting to know parts of Spain we never would have seen on our own. Although the tour covered a lot, our time with Juan only made us want to return in the future to see more of the wonders of northern Spain. The value of the experience was worth the price. More people should take the time to explore places off the beaten path and I'm a huge proponent of supporting local businesses. This is a must for anyone planning a visit to northern Spain.

Great Tour

We really enjoyed a great one day tour to Picos de Europa from Santander with Juan. Everything went very smoothly - and we were able to visit around almost ten different places during the day - far more than on standard tours.
Juan has great knowledge of this part of Spain and is able to plan an itinerary in advance and/or make recommendations and decisions as the day progresses, based on preferences, weather, etc.
His 4 wheel drive vehicle is perfect for travelling onto the gravel roads high up in the Picos hills/mountains, reaching places other tours don't go to.
Highly recommended.

Excellent trip for family
We just completed a unforgettable trip (2 days) with Juan to Picos de Europa. He has arranged schedule so reasonable with a combination of drive through beautiful villages and hiking to our needs. We visited old mine in the mountain, hiked to old yew forest and visited handful very beautiful and interesting villages. Juan has been super helpful during the trip, our whole family cannot be more happier and this trip is definitely worthwhile to take if you want to have a unique experience in Picos de Europe with teenagers.

Best Tour Picos has to Offer!!!

Our tour guide Juan was a true pleasure! He has so much knowledge of Northern Spain and an excellent driver!!!! Those mountains are no joke! Juan was punctual and made our entire day full of stops and memories to last a lifetime. Being with the locals and eating outside the “typical” tourist locations was a really treat. If I could I would have requested him for more touring days in Northern Spain.
