We had only a few days in Barcelona, but I was glad we took the time to spend half a day seeing this very unique monastery. The skip-the-line aspect of this tour is valuable. For example, a boys' choir sings at 1 pm (while school is in session) - if you are waiting in line outside you will miss it. At some of our Spain tour spots, the lines were not actually that bad and the "skip-the-line" feature was not really necessary - that is the luck of the draw. But the lines were LONG at Montserrat, so if you can pay for that service you should. There is a museum with artwork collected by monks and donated by patrons, the Black Madonna, and the beautiful church. Is it somewhat like Mont St Michel, where it is a religious site but also filled with many tourists? Yes, but that does not take away from the beauty and unique character of the place. Possibly because they want to encourage visitors, they did not seem to be strict about the dress code (covered shoulders and knees); perhaps as tourism picks back up that will be enforced. Our guide (Angela) was knowledgeable and kind and gave us very interesting background and historical info that we would not otherwise have obtained.

A different experience for those visiting Barcelona.
Set in a very unique natural environment, this place has had a deep impact in the history and culture of Catalonia.
There are different ways to get to Montserrat , but this tour is by far the most confortable, fast and best prepared to get the most out of the experience.

Me montaron el tour en menos de 12 horas y adaptándose a mis necesidades. Montañas, monasterio y espiritualidad me acompañaron en todo momento. Visita muy emotiva. Mi guía, Angels, es una mujer con muchísimo conocimiento del lugar (parece que viva ahí) y lo sabe transmitir de una forma sencilla: geología, historia, normas benedictinas e incluso el día a día del monasterio. A pesar de haber pactado 4 horas viendo que aún quedaban cositas por visitar mi guía se adaptó para acabar tranquilamente.
Se respetan todas las normas de seguridad recomendadas por el ministerio de sanidad respecto a Covid-19.
Totalmente recomendable visitar Montserrat con Tour Travel & more.

Can you pick up from the cruise port?

We had ten people going to Montserrat in our group and they were happy to pick us up from the W Barcelona Hotel. I don't know about smaller parties but I just emailed them to ask. They were very nice.
My concern is that a couple of people in our group and elderly enough that walking about Montserrat - especially the steep incline into the center - could be too challenging. I cannot recall from my past visit if any type of conveyance is available. Is there any accomodation for the elderly? Thank you.
