Really interesting tour of the cave museum & a wine tasting in Requena. The caves are so unique & the history of their use is fascinating.
Johan is extremely knowledgeable and informative.
We enjoyed learning about the history of the area & the wines. We then went to a second wine tasting at a small wine producer which was lovely.

Johan was wonderful. Super knowledgeable about the city, and of course, the wine! Both winery’s were lovely, great wine, and great people. We learned so much and may have purchased TOO much wine to bring back. Highly recommend the rose’ at the second winery!
Conversation was great, and my partner and I both took a short wine induced nap on the ride home :)

Thanks for your review, Michael! That Bobal rosé is indeed really nice, but I'm sure one can never have TOO much wine! The nap on the way back to Valencia is normal, no one can avoid it! See you next time.

thanks for the review Max; having fun and learning something can go hand in hand! You don't mention the wines you tasted but I seem to remember that the bottles were all empty at the end of the tastings! See you next time!

We took a private tour with Johan in Janurary of 2022. He was extremely prompt at coordinating our last minute tour. He picked us up at Plaça de la Verge and drove us to the first stop, Murviedro - Bodega Historica. The drive was very enjoyable and went by quick in a clean, comfortable vehicle. On the drive he was friendly and knolwedgeable communicating in perfect English about Valencia in general and started giving basic background about wine in Spain. The history and touring of the wine caves was interesting, and the wine tasting that followed was amazing with delcious wines and Johan's commentary. We purchased several wine bottles and were given two as gifts to bring home, as well as the glasses we used for tasting. We then took a quick stroll through the old town before contuning on our journey to Bodega Vera de Estenas. Here Johan showed us the grapes and vines in the field, the entire production set up, then more wine tasting. We had a nice drive back to Valencia talking more with Johan and learning about life in Spain. We handed Johan the money, and went on our way. Johan reached out and said we had overpaid (we misunderstood the cost in an email) and met us later that evening to return the overpayment! We would highly recommend this tour with Johan. His knowledge and the amazing wine was the highlight of our trip!

Incredible experience. Johan was super polite and knowledgeable. He knew everyone at the vineyards and was fun to talk to. We were a couple that paid for three people so we could go and it was still worth it! Thank you Johan, we will definitely come back to Valencia again and come say hello!

thanks for the nice review, hmsspe... I'm happy that you thought it was all worth it, even paying for 3 people (which is the minimum on this short tour, I'm afraid), the other option would have been the full day tour, which you could do with only 2... I look forward to exploring other parts of Valencia's wine regions with you!

We did an amazing short wine tour with Johan. He picked us up at our Airbnb and drove us through the wine region of Utiel. There he showed us around and told us about the history of the region and its vineyards without turning it into a lecture. This man knows more than just his wines, after living in Valencia for years he knows the city much better than your average city guide. Wether you’re looking for the best wine bars, restaurants, or cafes, Johan will tell you where the locals enjoy themselves and their city.
Originally we wanted to do a day tour but as we were only in Valencia for a few days we chose this shorter morning tour.
All in all an excellent experience, don’t miss out on this one!

thanks for your review, WouterDeJong; the short tour is a good option, but the day tour is more relaxed, we have more time at every stop, more time for questions, and more time to savour the wine...

We did the monring tour because we only had a few days in Valencia and there's so much to do there! We really enjoyed the day out with Johan, he is very easy-going and knows his stuff on wine and its history. We highly recommend this - thanks Johan!

This was a good one: beautiful trip, relaxed atmosphere, good explanations, stunning sceneries and .... very good wine. Affordable too and I liked the small group, which gives you the feeling it's a private tour.

thanks 556riky, for this nice review. Actually, right now I'm offering this tour in TripAdvisor specifically as a Private Tour, because there will be less risk of being infected with Covid-19. All my TripAdvisor tours are private tours.

We had a marvelous morning with Johan who showed us the beautiful surroundings of Valencia in just 5 hours. That was due to our limited schedule but more than worth it. We visited the Caves of Requena and tasted some very good wines at bodegas selected by Johan. Afterwards he drove us savely back to Valencia.

thanks for the review! This morning tour is a bit faster than the usual longer and more relaxed wine tour (with lunch included), but still worth it, certainly if you have limited time.
