Giorgio was a wonderful guide of Matera! It was very easy to book with him, and he gave clear instructions of where to meet. As we walked through the ancient city, he shared very interesting facts and stories about the city’s history. He also shared information about Italian culture in general to help tell the story of Matera in past and present, and how modern Italy is connected so deeply to its history. It was easy to ask questions and customize based on our interests. Thanks again! We hope to take part in one of your tours again in the future 😊

Giorgio gave us a unique experience in Matera! Very far from the classical touristic guide: he brought us in the heart of Matera and showed some corners that I've never seen before. I went there with my wife and some friends from Mexico. They loved it! Highly recommended!!

Exploring Matera with guide Giorgio was everything I'd imagined and more. He first took me to the opposite side of the gorge so I could experience the full view of Matera. Wow, so incredible. Then as we wandered the ancient streets he explained in detail the history of the city as it progressed through the ages and how it came to be a World UNESCO site. Giorgio is a wealth of knowledge and guiding experience. We explored a churches, cave dwellings, underground cistern, and visited a pastry shop, and more. As we walked and talked, I imagined how it would have been to live in this unique place. During the tour we had time for a break from the hot sun in the shade to try a local snack of Cruschi, dried peppers. As a female solo traveler, I appreciated Giorgio's expert guidance through this amazing city. Definitely a great value.

We took a 3 hour tour of Matera with Giorgio. It was so informative, interesting and was the highlight of our Italy trip! Giorgio shared so much about this special town, its history and answered all our questions. He really customized the tour based on our interests. He even took us to a special gelato spot because it was a very hot day! I can’t say enough about Giorgio. His knowledge and passion are evident. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a small, intimate tour of Matera!

Georgio was very knowledgeable and pleasant. I was recovering from knee surgery and he kept a pace that I was able to handle. My visit to Matera was a favorite activity of my trip to Italy. I highly recommend Georgio and this tour.

Giorgio was an amazing, very knowledgeable guide. He shared so much with us on the history and traditions of the area and provided great insight into the history of Matera.
I would highly recommend him and the Matera Sassi tour!

Georgio walked with us and shared his home and life with it. It was more than a tour. It was a personal expression of his connection with this land and his families history in it. We felt lucky to meet this man and learning about Matera.

Just book this tour, it's worth every penny. Giorgio is a very talented tour guide. He managed to keep us away from the crowds while still showing us all of Matera and imparting information not only about the town, but the people as well. He took us to a really cool shop owned by an early "settler" of the restored Matera and even suggested some great places to eat. We had a great time with him, learned so much and covered the whole town in our 3 hours together. Wear comfy shoes and be ready for lots of steps and stairs.
