My family and I visited Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast this past week from the US, and were fortunate enough to have found Umberto and his family to be our hosts and guides for our first visit to this part of Italy. Umberto was friendly, helpful and responsive as I worked with him to plan our itinerary (probably asking him too many questions along the way) and flexible when I changed our arrival flight. No ask was too big, or too small, and each was greeted with the same patience and kindness he showed throughout.
One of Umberto’s colleagues, Alfredo, met us at the airport in Rome (patiently waiting for our somewhat late flight) and quickly whisked us and our bags to the car for the drive to Sorrento. The drive was easy and he pointed out sites along the way. The 3+ hour drive couldn’t have been any easier for us.
The next day, Umberto’s son Manuel was our personal guide to the Amalfi Coast. He arrived early in the hotel lobby, and discussed a tour that would be best for our family. We saw Positano, Praiano and Amfali, with us having more than enough time in each location. Manuel spoke perfect English, had a wonderful personality, and entertained us while the educated us on the region. He accommodated any request and took wonderful pictures for us throughout the journey.
Umberto also helped arrange two separate tours through other companies for us. The first, was a day trip to Capri with “You Know” (www.TripAdvisor.com/recensioni). Just like Umberto and his team, Federico, the captain of our boat was phenomenal. He made sure everyone on our small group tour understood the sites as we sailed around the island, and gave us a chance to swim twice. Federico served snacks, drinks and lunch, while also providing great advice on how best to experience Capri. I cannot speak highly enough of Federico and You Know!
On our last day in the region, Alfredo once again picked us up at the hotel to take us to Rome for the next leg of our journey, but along the way we stopped in Pompeii and Vesuvius. Once again at Pompeii, Umberto arranged for our private tour, this time with Rosella Sommella, who truly made the whole place come to life. She shared vibrant stories, great insights, and knew the ruins so well. We learned so much, and had fun while doing it. After Pompeii, we had the opportunity to hike up Vesuvius before making the drive to Rome. Once again, Alfredo treated us so well, and even helped us bring our bags into the hotel lobby in Rome.
Grazie Umberto, Alfredo and Manuel. You made the start of our vacation in Italy perfect, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else but you to my friends and family.

If you need a private driver in Italy and want to save time and avoid taking trains or buses, Umberto is the person to call! We had the pleasure of using his service on 4 occasions during our recent trip to Italy and his service is second to none!
His son, Antonio, drove us on 3 separate occasions to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast and was an excellent driver - always on time - and his company was so enjoyable! Thank you Umberto and a special thank you to Antonio for helping make our trip to Italy so great!
Ps. We had originally booked Umberto’s service for a trip that was planned for May 2020. We had sent Umberto a PayPal deposit and when we had to cancel the trip in March 2020, due to the pandemic, he immediately refunded our entire deposit. We will plan to use his service again in future trips to Italy!
His son, Antonio, drove us on 3 separate occasions to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast and was an excellent driver - always on time - and his company was so enjoyable! Thank you Umberto and a special thank you to Antonio for helping make our trip to Italy so great!

Positano was beautiful but I didn't expect so many people. I was very impressed with the company we booked with: Umberto/Italy driver. I accidentally booked our trip for the wrong day and discovered it the day before. Umberto was so accommodating and made some changes to get us booked for the correct day. He also replied to every whatsapp very quickly. Our driver Paulo was also very nice and fun! Bottomed line, Positano was too crowded for my liking but very beautiful. I would highly recommend Italy Driver for any private excursion!

We did 2 tours with Umberto. First was Pompeii and Vesuvius with lunch at a winery. The lunch, wine and whole experience was fantastic, first class. and cost much less than expected.
The next day we toured the Amalfi Coast. He also drove us from and to the train station, which was a blessing for a group of 8 with luggage.
Umberto is friendly, funny, flexible, very organized and easy to deal with. We communicated a lot before and during our trip via whats app and email. He helped take a lot of stress out of our vacation and helped make some special memories.

Umberto and his team are the best!! We were fortunate enough to find him on a previous trip to Campania in 2019, and his help and personal attention to detail and our comfort and interests were exceptional both times. His services range from railway/airport/hotel transfers, to working with the traveler to customize an itinerary for your stay. In our case, that included hotel recommendations, guides and tickets for specific attractions, excursions to Ercolano, Pompei, Capri, and an unforgettable Amalfi drive. He is an exceptional host, and we have really appreciated his help and expertise every time we have been in the Napoli/Costa Amalfitana area. He’s the best!

We booked a ride from the train station in Salerno to Sorrento and had the pleasure of meeting Umberto who was amazing! He gave us some tips and because of his suggestion of seeing the entire Amalfi coast, we extended our trip and called to see if he could help arrange a driving tour around the coast. Manuel, his handsome, chivalrous and sweetheart of a son picked us up and we not only saw the beautiful coast, but we jammed out to our favorite songs and had the best time!! What a great family, we saw the heart of Italian hospitality through these two! I will be keeping their number for any family and friends who visit the Almafi Coast!

In vacanza in 5 a Napoli avendo un giorno a disposizione ho cercato qualcuno che organizzasse tour in costiera
Il caso ha voluto che mi imbattessi nella pagina web di italy driver e il fatto che Umberto avesse vissuto negli USA ma avesse aperto l attività qui mi ha incuriosito
Meno male,servizio eccellente,Umberto celere nell' organizzare il tutto e Antonio che ci ha accompagnato tutta la giornata è stato molto bravo ad illustrarci tutto quello che abbiamo visitato e molto carino e professionale
Dovessi tornare a Napoli chiamerei ancora loro ad occhi chiusi
Bravi continuate così 💪

Amazing!! We had a group of 13, our drivers were Umberto and his son Manny. Both of these guys are just simply fantastic!! Every time we are in Italy we always called them to be our drivers. They are both so Knowledgeable of the area. Highly recommended!

Hi,
I contacted Italy Driver by email.....unfortunately cannot put email on Trip Advisor, so not sure what to say. Check website again - Italydriver.
Owned by Umberto. He was very helpful and friendly.
Our driver was Enrico, and we could not have had a better day.
Enrico rang ahead and organised lunch for us seafront at Amalfi and a tour of award winning pastry cafe at Minori.
Could not recommend him highly enough.
