A really good trip to venecia. An amazing place to visit, our guide company was gray line and the tour guy Jacopo , excellent very knowledgeable , nice and friendly, we highly recommend them.

Venice is a must see when visiting Italy and this day trip fulfilled that requirement. I highly recommend visitors take the early morning train from Termini to Venice and spend one night, returning to Rome the next day, or to Naples. The day trip was spent mostly traveling (3.5 hours each way) which limited the amount of time to really soak in Venice. Nevertheless, our tour guides from Grey Line were phenomenal and very attentive to our tour group.

Tour guide was excellent. He kept us informed at every steps. Explained everything and advised us what to do on our own. He was with the group till the last step and ensured everyone got off at the right train stop.

Great trip though crowded and hot. Our guide, Almudena, was great and made sure that everyone was taken care of. Our gondola ride was great too. Lots of shops and restaurants for souvenirs and food. The high-speed train ride was a nice way to get there and back.

Good experience and first with this company. Got to Venice at Noon. Lost guide at Rialto Bridge. Caught up at 2pm to eat.. food place was not great at all… we went rogue after as we didn’t like the fast pace and not having time to take in sites. After going rogue we went on gondola ride, shopping and even sat down for coffee. We then met group at end of day for Happy Hour. Happy Hour place the spritz was wonderful and so was the appetizer. The train ride 4 hours to Venice and 4 hour’s back can be harsh. Too little time to squeeze things in.

We started early to meet our guide who escorted us the entire trip and was available throughout the day - whatever we needed, it was accommodated.
The weather was superb, sunny and a light breeze so some of the laneways were a bit chilly. Lucky we prepared for all contingencies so we could easily take the layers off and on as needed.
Our guide suggested a few spots for eating and we took advantage of finding a restaurant slightly away from the main thoroughfare that provided a cosy atmosphere and the ability to relax and talk without the buzz of people.
Make no mistake, Venice is a busy spot so be prepared for people walking into you and almost tripping you over to get that whole one centimetre in front of you… and yes there were prams and dogs to navigate too. Regardless, this was a high point of the holiday, perfect to get a taste of Venice.

You don’t need a tour guide you just need to:
- Figure out the train station
- Decide whether you want a day trip or overnight trip (day trip is nice; multiple days is better if you can afford it)
- Exchange your money ahead of time (preferably with your U.S. bank prior to arrival if possible); have plenty ready for Venice—most shops only accept euro or charge a hefty fee for cards
- Do your research; figure out what’s important for you to see and do in Venice ahead of time, then make your plan (this could help inform whether you go for a day or several days)
The main feedback I have on this trip is that it:
- Felt hard to follow and disjointed due to accommodating several languages but advertising the accommodation of one; this made the informational session twice as long and took up too much of our time in Venice and when this might be a once in a lifetime experience
- Had poor communication; we paid for the tour but were told several times we could go if we wanted—I would’ve rather the guide structured it as the first hour being the tour and then the last few hours being for shopping, eating, etc. The way it was communicated made it unclear whether we’d have any free time if we followed and created an unnecessary sense of urgency when Venice should’ve been a calming and romantic experience
- Felt like being babysat; the belittling vibe from the guide wasn’t it
- Had poor appetizers and drinks; not the best food or drink in Venice for the significant booking price of this journey
- The value add was not worth the price and I have several other tour guided experiences to compare it to; so I don’t say this all lightly—it was disappointing
I am not one to write poor reviews so trust me when I write this. Save yourself money. And enjoy Venice without a guide. If you do your homework ahead and actually read reviews like this, you’ll be okay. I wish I would’ve read more reviews on this journey prior to booking or trusted myself more. If you have ever navigated a subway or train station in your life, you’ll be able to figure this all out—that’s the part you need to focus on most.

Loved this tour!! Our guide, Val was excellent!! She is very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. She did a great job of keeping up with a large group in crowded areas. She helped all of us feel comfortable at the train station and on the train going and returning. The tour is not rushed. We enjoyed our free time in Venice. The gondola ride was romantic. Even though the city was very crowded, it is beautiful! We made the best of it and marked this destination off our bucket list. We highly recommend this tour!! It is very enjoyable!

We're absolutely delighted to hear that we had such an incredible experience on our tour! It seems like Val was a standout guide, impressing us with her knowledge, friendliness, and professionalism. Absolutely beautiful place to visit, shop, eat, learn the history and of course take a gondola ride. I appreciated Antonella’s great directions, information and support to ensure we were making the most out of our time in Venice. So far, my favorite area of Italy.

We purchased a tour which included a tour guide and including the Venice canal taxi. We did not do the gondola, but had time for St Mark's, Doge Palace, and lunch. You can buy tickets for the tour online or for the train only at the train station or online. It is ALL day.

You definitely have a guide the whole time! We had a wonderful guide Rosella who spoke 4 languages! You meet the guide at the train station and she gets u on the train, then gives u the option to stay with her or go explore Venice on your own. We stayed with her and she got us to the gondola’s and got our tickets and then St. Marco church. Then the group all meets back together and back on the train. So you have options, go on your own in Venice and meet back up with the group, or stay with the group. There will still be small amounts of time on your own either way and the guide is very clear where and what time to meet her!! Enjoy! ECL.
