Our tour guide Marco was wonderfully knowledgeable and kind. Our group was originally supposed to be a small group of 8 but turned into 20, not a huge deal to us but just something to take note on if you value that. I will preface by saying if you want a calm experience I recommend booking a private tour for 6am, once the Sistine Chapel / Museum / St. Peter’s is open, it is VERY crowded, very overwhelming at times (and this was in the fall not even summer). Beautiful artwork and our tour guide Marco had a little something to say about it all, our group had headphones that were connected to a radio speaker so we could pretty clearly hear Marco over the crowd noise. I highly recommend if you are spending a couple days in Rome to do this on a single day as the Vatican is so large you cannot just do it within a few hours, however if you only want to see the Sistine Chapel/few exhibits/St. Peters, then 3 hours would be sufficient. I do highly recommend doing a tour as it is very overwhelming inside, it is nice to have some direction!

J'espère rendre service aux futurs personnes via notre expérience : réservation pour une visite du vatican + chapelle sixtine. A l'arrivée le guide n'est pas français mais italien .. déjà ça commence mal nous ne parlons pas italien nous demandons à l'accueil de nous changer de groupe .. trop tard! le guide italien est payé, si vous voulez un groupe en français il faut payer pour un groupe français .. donc déjà la première réservation est loupée merci pour votre professionnalisme, aucun geste sur la deuxième réservation que nous décidons quand même de payer car on ne vient pas à Rome toutes les semaines. Nous partons avec notre guide (qui parle le français approximativement) mais nous arrivons à la comprendre. Déjà il faut savoir que le vatican c'est 35 000 visiteurs par jour donc attention la foule.. et la tout ce complique ..notre guide n'est pas guide et ne connais ni le vatican ni la chapelle sixtine, en gros on apprend rien "regardez les belles tapisseries", "regardez les marbres au sol comme il sont beaux", "regardez ces peintures..." etc ... bref une guide non officielle de la ville de Rome mais une jolie arnaque à finalement 200 euros la journée ça fait bobo. En une heure la visite est bouclée ! à l'arrache, sans nous raconter ni la vie de michel ange ni de rafael ..bref avec ma fille à la fin de la "visite" on décide de faire demi tour et de tout recommencer en se débrouillant comme on peut pour avoir de l'info. Pour info, pour la visite de colisée le lendemain nous sommes passés par GetYourGuide et là nous avions une guide officielle de la ville de Rome avec 4h de visite incroyable ! cherchez l'erreur .. Trip Advisor c'est BadTripAdvisor, donc plus jamais..

Arrived at the meeting point to be told that we had to pay an extra €70 each for entry to the Vatican - as I paid for a guided tour this seemed to be very unreasonable and no previous mention was made that the entry fee wasn’t included.
To make matters worse when we enquired at another tour operator they advised that entry to the Vatican was only €21.
As a result of this we didn’t get the tour and where left very disappointed

Hello Lauren,
Thanks for your review. It is clearly written on the exclusions as well as on the voucher / booking confirmation that the tickets to the Vatican musuems was not included. We were asking you to pay 'SEVENTEEN EURO' which was the cost of the ticket per person NOT 70€ upon check in.
Thank you anyway for the feedback and we hope that you enjoyed the rest of your vacation.

Disappointing Tour. Guide was a nice lady but had very average English and far too slow getting to the highlights which meant the teenagers lost interest. Seemed to want to do the tour on her terms, not ours. One of the reasons I booked this tour was it was advertised as a bit shorter than others but it went way over in time. I was also a bit surprised to have to pay extra for VATICAN entry when we arrived at the Quo Vadis offices as assumed this was covered but it was in the small print so fair enough I suppose…. But the advertised price is arguably misleading. Guide Didn’t have a good understanding of the Vatican layout in terms of whether earpieces could be rented, location of cafés/ restaurants etc. Basic stuff she should know. She did have very good knowledge of the museums and their content but struggled to communicate it well and in a timely fashion. I would not recommend this tour, especially for families with teenagers.

Paulo has an unbelievable amount of knowledge and was able to answer any questions. He especially took his time and care listening to our 6 year old twins and showing them what he thought they would enjoy too. The office were so friendly and there is no way we would have learnt so much in those two hours without them. Worth every penny!

This was the best tour we could do. The lines are so long and the groups are so big. We skipped all the lines including the skip the line, line. To have a small group and to have the opportunity to ask our questions and see what we wanted to see was priceless. The Vatican and Sistine Chapel can be overwhelming, but they are so beautiful. I wouldn’t miss this. We took a tour about 15 years ago and didn’t have a private tour and were crushed by the crowds. This was much better.

Am confused...So aside from paying the price listed on trip advisor or viator we still have to pay another fee at the vatican. Please specified we we can plan accordingly. Thank you!

Yes. I can’t remember the exact amount but it’s around €20 or more. It’s less for under 18s and students with a valid ID. You will also need to pay extra to climb up into the dome. This is about €15.

Hi, could you all please advise if ticket for 'A Vatican and Sistine Chapel Small-Group Tour ' consists of only the GUIDE & SKIP THE LINE facility ( not the entrance tickets that again costs extra to be bought from their local office just before their tour begins)?
Also, does this ticket include only the access to Vatican & Sistine chapel( Not the St. Peters Basilica tour). I am keen on all these three & bought this ticket thinking that it includes all three. Do I have to book again for saint Peters Basilica seperately?

St Peters Basilica is included as it is at the end of the Vatican museums and Sistine chapel tour and you can go in at no extra cost. That was certainly the case when I went in October.

Karen is correct...Please plan on a minimum of 3 hours with the tour guide. There are A LOT of people! Even with the tour guide, you are at the mercy of the ebb and flow of a sea of people. There will be security to clear. There will be areas where you will be able to stop and just take it all in. There will be halls to walk slowly. The Sistine Chapel was shoulder to shoulder. Your guide will leave at St Peter's where you're then welcome to stay as long as you like. Once you leave the basilica, no re-entrance. Your tour is then done.
