Disappointed that my tour I had booked was cancelled with less than 24hours notice. Left with no options for any other tours the only day I had left in Rome. Likely my only chance to see this. Incredibly disappointed. Not reliable

Awesome tour. Highly recommended. First time in Rome. Learned a lot of interesting facts thanks to the tour guide in regards to how the Colosseum was build and maintained. Or how humans never fought against animals in it and so on. The Colosseum is massive even in todays standards. The Rome of old is extremely captivating. I’ve never seen anything like it. I learned a lot thanks to my guide. Can’t stress enough... highly recommended.

To start out, we were extremely disappointed in the directions to the tour office. We took the subway and got there on time, but had no idea where to go once there. We ended up going to 3 different offices for Explore Italy Tours before reaching the correct one. Unless you take a taxi or Uber, it's not easy by following their instructions. Our official tour guide was late because of the rain with another tour and she was flustered in the beginning. When we walked in the gladiator's entrance (which was the whole reason for choosing this tour) it was over in a few minutes because there's a time restraint for how long you can stand in there. That was disappointing! She had a lot of information, but it wasn't easy to ask questions and find out the things you wanted to know about. To me, it was just ok, but I wouldn't go back. I hate to sound like a millennial, but I was underwhelmed by the experience.

Thank you for posting your review about Explore Italy Tours.
We are very sorry to hear that you did not find the directions to the meeting point very clear. On the other hand, we have visitors every day that find our office very easily since we have one of the closest offices to the Colosseum.
We are glad to hear the good comments about our guide knowledge moreover, the Arena floor is a very restricted and exclusive area, the time one group can spend there is limited by the venue for security reason.

What method of transportation would you recommend from the port of Civitavecchia to Rome where this tour begins? We arrive by cruise & I understand the port is not in Rome city. Thank you!
