John was very informative but still had a sense of humor. The skip the line option I would see the Vatican. The lines were insane. I would recommend bringing water. It was hot and it was not even that hot of a day. Squeezing all of the information in to a little over hours of actual tour time is impressive. You could stay all day if you wanted to.

On the day we visited, the Vatican was packed wall to wall, but Elaine, our Tour Guide made it enjoyable. She has an amazing knowledge of the history of the Vatican. She helped us maneuver the extraordinary crowds while providing in depth information about each area of the Vatican we visited. She also was able to get us into a restricted area in the Hall of Statues. Despite the thousands of people, we were the only group in that area. We're Catholic and we appreciated the deep respect and reverence Elaine showed towards the most holy areas of the Vatican. I really enjoyed the education she provided. Every time I see a bee, I'll remember our visit to the Vatican.

Fantastic! This tour was amazing. The history was so rich & expansive my son and I wished we had more time - we had so many more questions. We would absolutely recommend What A Life Tours and would hope to be put in Adriano’s group again. He was so knowledgeable and patient with our group. He answered every question and made sure everyone was ok along the way. We would recommend this tour and this company snd hope to see them again in the future.

Met our guide Adriano at the location provided - very easy to find. Provided us with headsets and how the tour would go, small group of people as advertised. He provided us with a chart of the paintings inside the Sistine Chapel so we knew what we would be looking at once inside. Then we walked into the Vatican, explored the grounds first. Sistine Chapel was next, words can’t describe what it was like to actually step inside. Then into St. Peter’s Basilica and a view of the square. Another WOW moment. Adriano pointed out the window where Popes’ have addressed the crowds before. Tour concluded shortly after. We were very impressed with Adriano, very intelligent and seemed to know everything we were viewing. Kept the group organized and made sure we stayed together, which wasn’t easy with such large crowds. This is a must do while visiting Rome of course, def recommend paying a little more for the small group with skip the line access. Well worth it.

I was very impressed by our guide. very knowledgeable and the kept tour very stress free. made me want to learn more about what I saw. despite the huge crowds our small group was able to keep together. we had time to see things and ask questions. small groups are the only way to go.

John T. was a very friendly tour guide. Very thorough and did not waste any time. He was also very knowledgeable. We heard him explaining things that other guides didn’t seem to be explaining. Would definitely recommend.

Hi there,
I have booked a ticket for June 21, 2023, at 14:00, which falls on a Wednesday. I just read that St. Peter's Basilica is closed on Wednesdays due to the Papal audience held on those days. However, it reopens again around 12-1 PM. Does this mean that we will still be able to visit the Basilica? It is included in our package. Please let me know.

Our visit began with the Vatican museums at 2pm so we didn’t actually get into the basilica until about 3:30-4 pm so you should be ok but to be certain check with your agency
Is the max number of guests 12 or 15 for this small group tour? Both are listed in separate places in the posting.

We had 12 on the Vatican tour I took. Our guide was very experienced and skilled at maneuvering the group into places out of the general crowd flow. We had headsets that enabled us to hear her explanations even in the most crowded areas. I would recommend the What A Life Vatican tour without hesitation.

The elevators were not convenient to the tour and several people were separated several times because of their use of the elevator. The guide was very patient but the split from the group was an issue

But there was an issue about one of the areas not opening till 1pm so our tour was a bit delayed. There’s so much to see the time will fly by.
I'm trying to decide between this tour and the early access tour. The early access tour says entry to st peter's is by the reserved access, implying it's quicker. Is it the same for this tour?

We didn’t do the early access tour but I wish we had. There were SOOO many people that we felt as if we we herded through like cattle. We didn’t have to wait in any lines to get in but once in the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel the crowds were unbelievable. They say Monday is the worst day to go ( of course we went on a Monday). I was under the impression that st Peter’s Basilica is open to the public without a ticket. You might want to Google that. Good luck!!

Yes - the Sistine Chapel is at the very end of this tour. You first visit St Peter's Basilica, then the Vatican Museum of which the last building you enter is the Sistine Chapel. Note that you cannot take photos in a few locations, including the Sistine Chapel. It's beautiful and I enjoyed taking memory snapshots which are perhaps even better :-).
Hi! Our family is interested in your tour but have a question about elevator access. My husband is using a light scooter ( 15kg) and that would require an elevator. Is that something that you can accommodate? If not, can you steer me in the right direction? Thank you!

I can tell you that there were areas that were stair-accessible only (which is due to the age of the buildings, not a fault of the tour operator). Our guide was very helpful in directing a family that was with us with a large stroller, to use an alternate route that had elevator access, and meet us in a specific location to meet back up with the group. That being said, I believe there were one or two spots that may have had to be skipped - but the tour company here would hopefully be able to answer that question for you!
