You are so right that the Vatican Museums can be less busy in the evening and is a terrific choice for those who would also like a shorter visit than during the day tours since it doesn't include the Basilica of St. Peter so the time is well spent exploring the magnificent rooms and corridors, as well as the world famous Sistine Chapel! You chose well to visit the Vatican Museums with us on an evening tour, it is a magical experience and the lighting as dusk starts to set in, really enhances the beauty of these museums! Guia is pure elegance and charm and extraordinarily intelligent and knows all there is to know about artwork and history and so enjoys taking her guests around the museums. While it can be challenging for our youngest budding art historians, she is excellent at engaging children as well and mum and dad, so happy you all had such a great time and we will be sure to let her know! This 3,5 hour tour is designed to give you an overview of the main gems of the museums, we do also offer a more in-depth 5 hour adventure which allows us to explore more with you so perhaps we can do that with you next time! Yes, the Vatican is located on the other side of the river which is a bit of a stroll from the city centre, but not unpleasant if one takes the route from Castel Sant'Angelo across the world famous Ponte Sant'Angelo which brings you into the area of Piazza Navona. Otherwise there are taxis and buses one can use, or the metro A which takes you to Piazza di Spagna. Every feedback can really help us and guide us in our constant effort to give our clients the best experience possible. Gracelyn is a very good guide, who has been with us for a long time. She is very knowledgeable and thorough and she is always willing to share with her guests her stories, in the most relatable way. Normally our guides give a 20 minutes description about the Sistine Chapel, but I guess that there might have been extra questions for her to answer or that, maybe, standing and looking at pictures while listening to the explanation might have felt like more time had passed. I am sure that Gracelyn wanted to give you all the information so that when you entered the Sistine Chapel, you would have been able to have a better understanding of all the art and the symbolism: there is so much to see and to learn that it can feel overwhelming! We completely understand that standing in the courtyard listening to the guide's explanation can be tiring, especially during the night tour, maybe after a long day of touring, but unfortunately for the guides there is no other way of describing the Sistine Chapel. In fact, according to the Vatican rules, the guides are not allowed to give explanations inside the Sistine Chapel, in order to respect the silence. The Vatican only allows the guides to give the explanations about the Sistine Chapel in a few specific areas, such as the courtyard you mentioned, where few or no chairs are available. Anyway, we are happy that you enjoyed the next part of the tour, where you were able to move around the Museums while listening to Gracelyn's interesting explanations.
