We had such an amazing time! So glad we booked this tour, we got to really experience Sicily to the fullest. Filippo and Erica are very knowledgeable of the areas we visited and made sure we had a great time. Everything about this tour deserves 5 stars! The van that seated the 6 in our party was very comfortable, the places we stopped to see were beautiful, and we felt we had plenty of time in each area to not feel rushed! You MUST book this tour if you have a day in Messina, you will not regret it!!.

I didn't know how much it was beautiful Messina until i did this tour with Filippo. He showed me Etna and Taormina and he explained to me a lot of thing. I enjoyed this tour very much because Filippo is very polite and funny guy, in one word remarkable!

After considerable research on TripAdvisor, we decided on Sicily Best Tour for a private tour of Taormina, Castelmola and Savoca. Filippo picked us up at the port and took us along the Sicilian Coast to the beautiful town of Taormina, first treating us to delicious fresh cannolis and bottled water. He provided excellent guidance and advice on what to see and provided plenty of time for us to visit the most iconic sites in the town. We enjoyed everything about Taormina, but especially the Greek Theater and the shops along the main street. Instead of going to Castelmola, we decided to spend some time at Giardini Naxos. After a driving tour of the town and a walk on a black sand beach, Filippo took us up the mountains to the quaint town of Savoca. He walked with us to explain the highlights of the town, especially the locations where "The Godfather" was filmed. He provided excellent insights into the history of the town and the movie production. He had planned the day so that when we arrived in Savoca, the tour buses had left and there were only a few other tourists. The history, sites, and views from the towns were amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed our day in Sicily. When we arrived back in Messina, Filippo also took us to see the key sites to include the largest astronomical clock in Europe. All in all, this was a great day and Filippo was an exceptional tour guide.

We arrived on our cruise ship and were promptly met by Filippo who was an outstanding guide. He was so personable and knowledgeable about all the places we visited. There were four of us on the tour and all agreed that this was an outstanding tour. Filippo provided us with water/soft drinks plus cannoli and another pastry that were both excellent. You add those special touches along with a friendly, knowledgeable guide and a clean, comfortable van and you have the perfect tour company! I highly recommend using them for your tour in Sicily!

I booked this tour many months in advance, and I think I was a little confused, because in our earlier emails, it sounded like Filippo himself would be our driver and guide, but as it got closer, we learned that we would have a driver and “tour coordinator” or hostess. Via email, we arranged for a version of one of the tours on the site that would allow us to see Savoca, Taormina, and Castelmola, with perhaps a stop at the beach at the end as my husband always loves to take a dip in the Med when possible and we knew it would be hot.
When we got off the boat, a little early, it seemed that our adorable guide Claudia had been waiting for nearly an hour, so that was the initial miscommunication. She sent me a text and picture where she would be, which was helpful, but I felt bad that she’d been waiting. Then she asked about our itinerary, which I thought was already set: Savoca, Taormina, Castelmola, 20min at the beach. In our emails, Filippo had outlined the day with specific times even. I saw that Claudia had the email, but told her we trusted her in terms of the best route and timing, so we wound up starting with the view of Isola Bella, where we had a toast and cannoli, which I think is always included, but we pretended it was for my birthday that day, and then a couple hours in Taormina. It was crowded and hot, but our group of 6 enjoyed walking around and shopping a bit.
I wish I had known that tickets were required to see the theatre. By the time we got there, the line was too long for us to get tickets, see the site, and then make it back at the appointed time. Here’s where it would’ve been nice to have had an official guide that could’ve done this with us or have gotten the tickets for us in advance.
We requested a nice restaurant with a view of Mount Etna, and Claudia was able to get us a spot on the patio at a nice restaurant, although it was so hot and the view a bit hazy (which I know can’t be helped), so a different spot with AC might’ve been more pleasant for us weak Americans. It was also a bit of an issue that the restaurant couldn’t take credit cards that day. We were able to do some shuffling and make it work, but it was a minor inconvenience.
When we got back in the van, Claudia asked if we would like to see Savoca or Messina. We stuck with Savoca since it was part of the original plan, even though she said the church in Messina is beautiful. I wasn’t really dressed to see the inside of church anyway. Claudia was right in that there wasn’t much to see aside from Bar Vitelli and the church from the movie The Godfather, but it nice and quiet and I enjoyed the short walk. Perhaps a tiny walking tour or an included drink or tasting in Savoca would make it more of a stop.
When one of the people in our group wasn’t feeling well, both Claudia and our driver Pietro made sure that she could wait in the van and were really very sweet. Claudia even followed up later via text. I appreciated Pietro offering to take some pictures for me too.
All in all, it was a great day and Claudia was a lovely and informative guide. In the end, we didn’t have time to go to the beach, which was ok, but I think we could’ve tightened up the time we spent at lunch to make it work. I know the beauty of private tours is really the flexibility, but it seemed like there were a few details that hadn’t been worked out that we had to decide on the day of and a few things that could’ve made it smoother (mainly the theatre in Taormina). Still, I wouldn’t hesitate to use this company again.

Definitivamente la mejor manera de conocer Taormina, Castelmola, Savoca y Messina es junto a Filipo. Viajamos junto a una amiga en crucero en Mayo y tomamos este tour privado. Filipo fue puntual, amable, simpático, con un gran conocimiento de los lugares a visitar. Pero lejos de todo, tuvo en gran detalle, fue especialmente a comprar al mejor lugar los famosos pasteles sicilanos muy temprano, los Cannolo!!Estaba incréibles.Efectivamente son los mejores ya que seguimos probando otros y no fueron superados. Y sobre todo que se preocupó de que estuvieran hechos en el momento. Yo viajo bastante siempre en la modalidad de tour privado y la verdad es que nunca ma habia tocado un guía como Filipo. No solo se preocupó que conocieramos de la historia de cada lugar, sino que además probar algo típico de la reposteria de la región que es famosa a nivel mundial.

Without any doubts the choice to rely on Sicily Best Tour was a success , Filippo has an excellent knowledge of his island, the tour he recomended proved to be enchanting. We visited Taormina , Savoca and Castelmola places full of history and culture . Filippo recommended a very good restaurant in Castelmola where as soon as we arrived we found our reserved table with a beautiful panoramic view of Mount Etna , he was available to our every need , for me this is essential in a private tour . If you are looking for a private tour high level entrusted to Sicily Best Tour !!!

We are a family group of 8 people coming on Celebrity Infinity on July 21st arriving at noon. We are interested in a tour of Taormina and Castelmola and anything else you recommend. What can you offer? Two of the people are older, 82 and 83. The rest are in their 50s and 20s. I am also a travel agent.
